World Language teachers continue to pursue cutting edge instructional practices that will allow them to prepare students who are capable, curious, caring, and confident learners who understand and respond to the challenges of an ever-changing world. This course seeks to study sound pedagogical practices that will sharpen our knowledge and skills in preparing students on their path to language proficiency through the 3 modes of communication interpretive, presentational, and interpersonal. This course will focus on the employment of authentic texts, engaging materials, and relevant cultural content through Stage 3 of Understanding by Design.
World Language teachers are continually researching and implementing best practices to facilitate the growth and development of students who are capable, curious, caring and confident learners who understand and respond to the challenges of an ever-changing world. This course SOUTHW seeks to research and create real-world choice homework and class activities for students. EST Research has shown that offering choice in the MIDDLE classroom is linked to increased student effort, performance and subsequent learning (Marzano). This course will sharpen our knowledge and skills in preparing students who positively engage in an ever-changing world. Furthermore, this course will focus on the creation of real-world choice homework for students in world language classes
