Kay Tadjoedin - Corporate Marketing Communications

What is your current role, and how long have you been working in this position? This March marks the first year I have worked in Plataran Indonesia, and what a proud year it has been. I am responsible for taking care of the Marketing Communication department, which consists of maintaining the brand identity and strengthen brand awareness through how we communicate with our clientele and beyond.

What motivates you to work in the hospitality industry? Living and based in Bali, always spark my curiosity in the industry that has become the backbone of this Island because it has so many impacts on the local community and its contribution to their prosperity. When the pandemic hits, it challenged me to work in this industry and take part in its revival to restore their glory.

How do you motivate your team to Think Fresh and Act fast in this pandemic era? To maintain a balanced life. Keeping sharp-minded, but don’t forget to decompress and reset. Because I believe in a healthy body and mind, we can give birth to the most creative ideas while following through until completion.

What are your hopes for 2021 for the hospitality industry in Indonesia? My hope is this challenge will ‘make’ rather than ‘break’ us. And the industry will prevail with better quality improvement, so we will be ready to welcome the reward when the time has come. I hope that the industry will come out stronger, infused with humility and more agile, infused with patience.

What is your current role, and how long have you worked in this position? I am now working as corporate chef for Plataran and I have been in this position for five years. I started working as a chef in 2010, and it is my 17th year in the hospitality industry. It has been quite some time, I learn a lot during that time and gain a lot of experience too.

What motivated you to work in the hospitality industry? Hospitality industry is a very dynamic field that requires discipline and hard work. Especially in my case, the profession demands a certain level of dedication and consistency. But what motivates me the most to work in this field is the nature of this platform. The culinary section gives room for unlimited creativity and enables me to really experiment and explore my ideas. Even the best part of it, is being able to finally put it into action and bring it to life.

How do you motivate your team to Think Fresh and act fast in this pandemic era? I always tell my team to stay grateful in such conditions, pray and remember God. By that, I believe each one of them could make the right decisions at the right time. By surrendering the situation to God, it gives us a clear and sound time which is vital in making decisions. I constantly remind my team to focus and give their best at work. Leave the rest to God because our job is to work and stay creative in the process and the results will follow.

What are your hopes in 2021 for the hospitality industry in Indonesia? My hope is that we can all maintain Indonesia’s charm and it’s natural beauty, because Indonesia’s charm is a small part of heaven that God gave to us. Indonesia with its nature, culture, cuisine and also its diversity. I hope this will ensure the growth and sustainability of the hospitality industry in Indonesia during this challenging time.

Anton Saputro - Manager of Enam Langit by Plataran

What is your current role, and how long have you been working in this role? My current role is Operation Manager at Enam Langit by Plataran. I’ve been working in the world of hospitality since 2007. I had training at Amanjiwo Magelang for 3 months and immediately became a daily worker for 6 months. After that, I moved from one hotel to another in Yogyakarta and finally arrived at Hotel Tentrem, at that time Tentrem had problems with permits and I moved to Hotel Mulia Senayan, Jakarta.

What motivates you to work in the hospitality industry? My initial goal of studying in the world of hospitality was to work on a cruise ship to travel around the world. However, after frequently meeting many diverse guests, I find that many guests prefer to stay in hotels and Plataran is the best Indonesian Hospitality Brand. Not only working, through hospitality I have a chance to build relationships with every guest whom I meet.

What is the most important behavior we need in this pandemic time? The most important behavior today is optimism and surely follows the Government’s regulation and safety protocol. For example, discipline in using face shield, hand glove, and mask when in public areas as well at work.

What are your hopes for the future of the hospitality industry in Indonesia? I am personally convinced and optimistic that the hospitality industry in Indonesia will soon return to normal and grow more rapidly. And along with Plataran, we continue to strive to make it happen.
