These incent ives g et t o t he hear t of sustainab le develop m ent by har m onizing hum an develop m ent , cult ural p reser vat ion and ecolog ical m anag em ent . In p ur suing t his m ission, Planet Ind onesia has alread y created 10 0 new yout h leader s in clim ate act ion, cond ucted t he fir st st ud y on over 20 0 b ird species in West Bor neo, and em p owered 150 0 ind ig enous w om en as b usiness leader s. The reason b ehind Planet Ind onesia?s rapid success is clear : a p assionate and skilled staff t hat w holehear ted ly listens t o t he need s, desires and values of t he com m unit ies in w hich t hey w or k. Dear Friendsand Readers, As I sit at t he kit chen tab le, b ack in t he United States, w r it ing t o you all after our fir st year at Planet Ind onesia, I can?t help b ut feel over w helm ed wit h g rat it ude. I rem em b er sitt ing in t his sam e p osit ion over m y m or ning coffee in Decem b er 20 14 , and feeling excited , ter r ified , and m ot ivated ab out t he 20 15 year. The fir st year for any not -for -p rofit is often t he t oug hest , revealing if t he or g anizat ion can com pete and rally sup p or t on a g lob al -scale. Reflect ing b ack at our 20 15 year I feel a sense of awe in w hat we were ab le t o accom plish. We are a not -for -p rofit t hat facilitates p rod uct ive econom ic act ivit ies by found ing com m unal b usinesses t o help at -r isk
