McNeese State has had six players compete in the Major Leagues and one - Clay Condrey - was a member of the world champion Philadelphia Phillies in 2008. Also, Jacob Marceaux was a first round draft choice of the Florida Marlins in 2005. Current Cowboy baseball coach Terry Burrows competed in the majors for the Texas Rangers, the Milwaukee Brewers and the San Diego Padres. The last two former Cowboys on a major league roster were Bob Howry and Condrey. Howry has retired while Condrey is a free agent. McNeese players drafted most recently by the pros were catcher Taylor Freeman by the New York Mets and shortstop Shon Landry by the St. Louis Cardinals.
