of one extraordinary family, the Hervey's have expressed their passions and personalities across the Estate. Its colourful heritage, once reserved for a privileged few, is now on show for all to see. The Estate reflects the Hervey's passion for everything Italian, influenced by their travels in Europe. The Rotunda is a Neo-classical masterpiece, created by the 4th Earl of Bristol to house treasures such as an extensive collection of silver and portraiture. These treasures also include paintings by Reynolds, Gainsborough and Vigee Le Brun and a dominating sculpture in the Entrance Hall; ‘The Fury of Athamus’ by Flaxman. There’s also fascinating collections of fans, porcelain, books and furniture to discover. From upstairs to downstairs, step back into the 1930s with life below stairs and experience what life was like for staff at Ickworth. Each month, on special Living History days, see the Cooks, the Housekeeper and other staff and eavesdrop on their fascinating stories. Delve deeper into Ickworth’s history with morning and afternoon tours led by a team of knowledgeable and passionate volunteers. Enjoy Ickworth throughout the seasons with an ever-changing landscape. Be inspired by the ancient woodland and pastoral fields with a variety of walks, from a rambling 2 miles to an adventurous 7 miles.
