SPECIAL SUBJECTS.
posure. In my original exposure meter I provided a special scale for the subject which had to be set each time of using the meter. The standard value for average subjects was set at 100, and special ones at lower numbers down to 10 for cloud negatives. But experience soon showed that in nine cases out of ten the standard subject value is used, and that the more convenient way is to omit a special setting on the meter for the subject, and to presume that it is of average value; only making a variation from the calculated exposure when exceptional subjects are photographed. For all subjects of average colour, such as landscapes, foliage, trees, buildings, portraits, groups, ordinary rooms, church and other interiors, groups of flowers, etc., the calculated exp9sure will be right without variation.
