Pipers has an exceptional atmosphere and when it comes to the Sixth Form, the School goes above and beyond to provide support academically and personally. When I joined in Year 9, I lacked confidence. Now, through the constant support of the School community and its nurturing environment, I am able to speak to a large audience and even host a live show on Pipers Radio every Monday. Through all the extra-curricular opportunities on offer, students can immerse themselves in a variety of different activities. This year I am taking part in the Young Enterprise scheme to support the subjects I am studying at A Level; IT, Maths, Business and Further Maths. In addition, I am involved in extra-curricular activities aimed towards my future career prospects, such as the Extended Project Qualification (EPQ), debating and Bar Mock Trials, as well as those for my personal enjoyment which include guitar lesson and Pipers Radio. Having Dyslexia has always brought the worry that I might struggle to keep up with the pace of lessons and fall behind in my work. However, that has been far from the case, as the teachers have accommodated any need or concern I have had. I have been amazed by every single teacher’s efforts towards individual students and their willingness to find innovative ways to explain topics to ensure all students fully understand their course. The teachers genuinely focus on bringing out the best ability each student has to offer; from catch-up meetings with the Headmistress, proactive and hands-on Form Tutors and Head of Years, and plenty of opportunities for all types of hobbies and career paths, all students are fully supported to reach their dreams and aspirations. What surprises me most about the Sixth Form here is the determination that all students have and their willingness to submerge themselves in the vast opportunities Pipers offers. The Sixth Form Centre offers a dynamic and exciting environment where students can relax, work and have fun all in one place. Being here is like a reward for many years of hard work, as well as preparing us with the right tools and mindset for stepping out into the real world.
