Question: What type of salary can I expect to earn once I’m qualified? Answer: It’s hard to say exactly how much you will earn as salaries vary between different organisations and clubs. If you’re an employed Gym Instructor, you could expect to earn somewhere in the region of £10,000 to £15,000 per year. If you’ve had additional training and have a wider range of skills then you could expect a further increase in salary of £5,000 to £10,000 per year. For employed Personal Trainers this figure should be more and you would be looking at something in the region of £18,000 to £25,000 per year. Freelance Personal Trainers charge on an hourly basis and their fees generally range from £25 to £70 per hour. Based on these figures, a Personal Trainer who works with 25 clients a week and works for 48 weeks of the year could expect to earn in the region of £30,000 to £84,000 a year. The hourly rate for most established Personal Trainers ranges from £30 to £35 per hour. At this rate you could expect to earn in the region of £36,000 to £42,000 per year.
