Many experts might argue that vaping is a healthier alternative to smoking, and does not have very severe consequences on a person’ s health; however, a recent study found that most people who tried to quit smoking by vaping ended up using traditional and e-cigarettes (Blaha “5 Vaping Facts You Need to Know”).
One more false advantage of vapes is that they can help you lose weight. It is true that nicotine products enhance a person’s metabolism, aiding in the body's ability to burn fat more effectively, but these results are only short-term. More factors should be taken into account to achieve weight loss instead of relying only on nicotine (Jackson 2019).
Dr. Rofaelas has already spoken about the problem of students vaping in the school’s bathrooms with Dr. Giampapa, Head of School. This month he will have a discussion with the Student Council as well as with the Science Department regarding a campaign to raise awareness against this issue and stop students from vaping, at least within the school grounds. Dr. Rofaelas believes this campaign will help teach students about this “modern plague”, improving the health of the student body.
