PINEHAVEN GAZEBO For Small, Large & Octagonal
BEFORE YOU START TOOLS REQUIRED:
Ground levelling tools, step ladder, tape measure, spirit level, pozi-driver, electric drill and hammer. (Circular saw if a timber floor was purchased).

SITE PREPARATION:
Your ground surface should be compacted to a ‘firm’ level surface. Ensure that no water will pond on the site. Your gazebo can be assembled on a reinforced concrete pad or a treated timber floor kit. It is also possible to erect on suitable earth surfaces or decking. See the ‘Anchoring’ section on page six for further details.
BASE PLATE
Establish the desired position of the gazebo, including where the entrance panel is to be situated. The ground should be level and firm. Nail the base plate elements together at the mitres, first using the 60mm nails on all mitres. (See Fig 1). Check the base plate measurements are the same from corner to corner across the floor area. Repeat the nailing using the 100mm nails provided on each of the mitres. (See Fig 1).

If you are locating your gazebo in a confined space, it may be best to assemble in an area where you have work-space, and then “walk” the completed structure into its final position. The top surface of the base plate assembly must be a flush surface and left free of obstruction to fit the walls.

TIMBER FLOOR (optional) Place the centre braces according to the model floor plan. Using the 100mm nails provided, nail two through each end. (See Fig 2).

Arrange the floor boards evenly on top of the frame, noting all boards have been cut with an angle mitred end of an approximate length. Align the end with a precut mitred angle of the floorboard flush to one edge of the base structure. (Generally best to allign this edge to the front of the gazebo).
Nail on the centre floorboard first and work your way to the outside board, securing all the boards as you go with the 60mm nails provided. (See Fig 3). Keep all boards “flush” to “slightly overhanging” on the outside edge. (See Fig 5).

At all times through this process, the floor level should be checked. Use packers or “infill” material to ensure the floor remains level. Once all boards have been nailed on to the frame, trim the boards with a circular saw to about a 1-5mm overhang of the base assembly. (See Fig 4 + 5).

Stand two wall panels noting each panel has a ‘fillet’ down the left side. Join a fillet with a ‘non fillet side’. (See Fig 8). Ensure the walls are flush and fasten with 4 x 50mm screws through the angled drill holes in the corner fillet. Repeat the process until all panels are fixed together.
FIXING WALLS
Align the wall panels on the base plate ensuring the opening is located in the desired position. Each panel should Fig.8 Fig.7 be fastened with 3 x 75mm screws; one in each corner, and one in the centre of each panel. (See Fig 9). The screws should be located through the rebate “channel” on the base of each Fig.9 Fig.10 panel. (See Fig 10). Re-check the wall measurements by ensuring the distance from corner to opposite corner is equal. A skewed form will lead to issues when assembling the roof.

ROOF FRAME
Note: each under roof member has pre-drilled holes on the ‘chisel end’. Working at ground level, align four under roof members to the spindle where marked. Fix using 4 x 50mm screws. Using a step ladder positioned inside the walls, lift the under roof assembly into position. Each aluminium bracket of the roof member should be aligned with a “wall fillet”. Fasten the roof member through the aluminium brackets down onto the top of the wall ‘fillet’ using 4 x 25mm screws provided. Fix the remaining roof members, screwing into the spindle first and then the aluminium bracket into the ‘fillet’.

Carefully position the cedar roof panels on the under roof frame. (See Fig 14). The bottom edge of the pine slat brace (on the inside centre of each roof panel) should just touch the top of the wall panel. (See Fig 13). The outer edges of each roof panel at its widest point should all be touching. The panels should be correctly aligned with the spindle. Check that the line of the cedar weatherboards is aligned across all panels. Fasten the roof panel to the top of the wall panel using 2 x 50mm screws through the pre-drilled holes. Repeat this process for all roof panels. (See Fig 14).

ROOF RIDGES
Position the roof ridges so each “chisel end” is flush with the spindle and acts as a “cap” over two adjoining roof panels. (See Fig 15). Screw the roof ridge to the under roof members using 4 x 75mm Hex screws provided. Take care that these screws go between the cedar roof panels to prevent possible splitting of the cedar weatherboards.
Caution: Do not place any more body weight than is necessary on the roof structure when fixing the top plates. Work from a stepladder positioned adjacent to each roof ridge and held by a second person. Fig. 15

SEATING
Nominate two wall panels for the six-sided gazebos and three wall panels for the octagonal for the seating. Position the seating brackets noting that the bottom edge sits on the base plate. The brackets are screwed into the wall using 4 x 75mm screws for each bracket. (See Fig 18). Place three seat slats evenly spaced apart for each section of seating. (Fig 19). Fix the seating sections by pre-drilling screw holes through the top of the seat slats into the seat brackets (to stop timber from splitting). Fix into position using 2 x 40mm screws in each end of each slat.

FINAL TOUCHES PAINTING & STAINING
Your gazebo is now complete. As all timber has been treated, you may choose to let it weather. Alternatively, you may wish to select a paint or stain of your choice, or a specified cedar coating to the roof.
ANCHORING
We recommend that you anchor the gazebo structure to the ground. Timber pegs (300mm) are suitable for earth surfaces. Use screws if anchoring to decking or dynabolts to other hard surfaces. Alternatively you may wish to add flooring (timber, concrete, bricks or tiles).
