Braun joins national education council Pine Technical & Community College President Joe Mulford congratulates PTCC Program Director Heidi Jo Braun on her recent election to the board of directors of The National Council for Workforce Education, the national forum to direct the future role of postsecondary institutions in workforce education and economic development. When discussing her involvement with NCWE, Braun shared, “I aim to be a strategically engaged team player who builds a strong network of independent relationships. I also want to be a resource for others. Having been involved with three TAACCT grants in our state, I have seen the power of networks and partnerships in creating opportunities for our workforce.” Braun has served in administrative positions in the customized training and continuing education field for the past 14 years. She builds collaboration between academic curriculum and corporate and continuing education programs to recommend and develop training products that meet the needs of businesses and industries in the community. “NCWE serves as the national leader providing resources and expertise to community colleges to enhance their efforts in preparing the current and future workforce in a global economy. I hope to extend these resources back to our East Central region in Minnesota and western Wisconsin. Networking is key, and I hope to build a substantial network of resources for our college and our community. Having experience in both the private sector and the state college system, I understand the power of public-private collaboration.” Braun also looks forward to the knowledge she will gain and bring back to her local community. She explained, “I have a true passion for helping Minnesota manufacturing companies compete and grow profitably, and in order to do that they need to have a strong workforce. The success of rural colleges depends on building a large network of partners through collaboration. Working with the college community at large to make this happen is essential.”
