A Case Story by Delbert Baursachs

My name is Delbert Bauersachs I am the third son of Calvin and Mayme Bauersachs. On February 28, 1959 I was called to the US Army for two years. Following my two, eight week training’s I was shipped to Butzbach, Germany over 5,000 miles from home for 18 months of more training. On April 14, 1959 my parents bought out the Case dealer in Pinckneyville and on April 28 the contract was signed by the St. Louis branch manager Ed Reiske, territory man Duane Chronister and my folks.

The dealer in Pinckneyville was McKinstry Tractor & Implement Company. They wanted to move the business out five miles west of town to the farm. So they built the block building 84x36 in the fall of 1959. They moved all the parts and tools to the new building. My two older brothers, Kenny and Glen were married and lived close by to help. The year 1960 was a very slow and hard year, my two brothers bought a new Case 611 and 700 tractor. I got home on February 13, 1961 and my folks wanted me to help. My two brothers farmed on their own and eased away from the business.
