Alison McWeeny is an amazing 20 year old woman. She holds 21 Washington State records in Power Lifting. She took first place in the Strong Man Competition at Central Washington University in May 2009. She is currently attending Central Washington University, majoring in Physical Education, Nutrition, Fine Art and minoring in Coaching. She made the Deans List for the spring quarter of 2008 with a 4.0 GPA. Now she has a cumulative GPA 3.1 and she also was awarded 2008 USAPL (USA Power Lifting) Athlete of the Year. On July 4, 2009, Alison was involved in a very serious boating accident on the Columbia River in Vantage, WA. She was on the bow of a friend’s boat when the boat hit multiple waves that caused the boat to plunge head first in the water. Alison jumped as far away as she could in the short amount of time she had, but that wasn’t enough. The propeller sucked her right back in and shredded her legs. Once she surfaced she knew right away what happened, treading water and yelling for help a nearby boat pulled her aboard. Once on the boat she began coaching them to make tourniquets on her legs and to call 911. She was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle where she had 3 surgeries. The end result is her left leg being amputated above her knee and her right leg having 6 enormous lacerations on the bottom side. Any donation you can give will be greatly appreciated and will go towards Alison’s prosthetic leg, life expenses and undetermined expenses that will occur due to her injury.
