LIVING OUR VALUES

Gathering in Sisterhood Leads to Meaningful Impact

In Pi Beta Phi, we deeply cherish the values of community and togetherness. From chapter-specific events and traditions to collaboration with members across North America, there is no replacement for being together with our sisters. As California Zeta prepares for the Fall 2024 term, we look forward to reuniting on campus and the abundance of opportunities it will bring.

Returning to campus is always a special time filled with excitement and gratitude. One of the things we cherish most is the sense of belonging and sisterhood that comes

with reuniting with our Pi Phi sisters. Whether it's catching up over dinner, attending chapter meetings or simply hanging out in the living room, there's always a sense of warmth and community that makes campus feel like home.

Being together on campus not only allows us to foster genuine connection and Sincere Friendship, but also provides the opportunity for community engagement. As Pi Phis, we embrace our mission to enrich lives through community service. Giving back is at the core of who we are, and California Zeta is

dedicated to fulfilling this vision for our sisterhood.

At California Zeta, there are many opportunities to engage with our community in purposeful ways.

The Fall 2024 term is especially meaningful, as we get to celebrate Read > Lead > Achieve ® month in September alongside the entirety of our sisterhood. Our chapter is also looking forward to expanding our Champions are Readers ®(CAR) program by forming relationships with new schools we haven’t had the opportunity to collaborate with before. CAR and Read > Lead > Achieve are both beloved at our chapter, and we are also excited to spread Pi Phi Love by attending other philanthropic events on campus.

The Fall 2024 term looks promising at California Zeta, and as Vice President Community Relations, I’m honored to keep witnessing Pi Phi’s commitment to bettering the lives of our sisters and community members. Nothing fills our hearts with more Pi Phi Pride than authentically living the values of our sisterhood.

WOMEN NEED WOMEN

As a member of the Austin, Texas, Alumnae Club, ROSANNE ROBERTSON EASTON has found true fulfillment in staying engaged with Pi Phi. Read more about why Rosanne deeply values friendship and connection and how she hopes to extend the same love she finds within our sisterhood.

WHAT DREW YOU TO PI PHI DURING RECRUITMENT?

I was from Texas and knew no one in California, but my very first friend I made was California Zeta BAILEY DEMOND SLATER. Despite the geographical distance, we are still friends today!

WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE PI PHI MEMORY?

My favorite memory is being a freshman and looking up to the beautiful and intelligent juniors and seniors. I think that was one of the best benefits I got from being in Pi Phi—having good role models to show me how to manage my time and take care of myself as a firstyear college student.

WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE THING ABOUT ALUMNAE LIFE?

Meeting and making friends with women of all ages; I learn from both younger and older members. I love being introduced to all the wisdom that comes with women from different generations.

WHAT MADE YOU INITIALLY WANT TO JOIN THE AUSTIN, TEXAS, ALUMNAE CLUB?

I joined the Austin, Texas, Alumnae Club because I missed being connected to Pi Phi. I wanted the feeling of being among educated women again— I wanted to be inspired by them to challenge myself in new ways.

HOW HAVE YOUR LEADERSHIP ROLES IN THE CLUB SHAPED YOU AS A PERSON?

My roles over the years have helped me learn I can always make time for volunteering, no matter how busy I think I am. I’ve also learned new techniques with technology that allow me to collaborate with women virtually and in-person. This has been so educational for me in our world of ever-changing technology!

HOW HAS PI PHI MADE AN IMPACT ON YOUR LIFE?

I have met women in my city that I would not have met otherwise. I have the security of knowing I could count on those women if I needed a friend

to listen, offer advice or even help me or one of my sons find a job.

AS AN ENGAGED PI PHI ALUMNA YOURSELF, WHY DO YOU THINK STAYING INVOLVED IS SO IMPORTANT?

My alumnae club keeps me intellectually and socially fulfilled. Like all humans, I need people, and particularly, women need women—especially when we lose our mothers and other family members. We need women to lift us up and let us lean on them.

I also stay involved because of what I can offer. No matter how many friends I have, I always have room in my heart for more. If a sister needs a friend, I'll show up and be that friend.
