Dayanghirang said that the City Engineer’s Office can cancel their drainage permit if ever there are violations also the CEO can call attention to these erring developers. compliance to their drainage plan) Dayanghirang said. He said that flooding in the city can be mitigated by appropriate engineering interventions and community support. The participation of the community can be in the form of adhering to the provisions of the Solid Waste Management Act which prohibits dumping of wastes in waterways and canals and also by helping in the drainage clean-up drive thru the Food- for- Work program. The City Government launched its Food-For- Work program in February of this year which provides for local volunteers to do drainage and canal clean-up in exchange for food and groceries. The program now covers 37 barangays and has over 23,000 volunteers. (PIA/RG Alama)
