GUMBOOT DANCING At the start of 2017, an opportunity was created for girls who would like to take Dance Studies as an 8th subject, as well as other learners who would like to learn ballet privately. As part of the Grade 10 Dance Studies curriculum, learners have to study a form of African Dance. Instead of doing a quick crash course in African Dancing, Mrs M Russell decided to do a more thorough job and involved all of the dancers, not just the grade 10s. She t h e n e m p l o ye d t h e a s s i sta n c e o f t h e professionals from our brother school over on the other side of the railway track. On the 18 October we welcomed the gumboot dancers from Pretoria Boys High School, who came to give a demonstra on of what our dancers are aspiring to. The boys were then joined by our dancers, who had been learning this dance form for just over one term. The girls also performed two ballet items on the 13 October at night of the Proms, which were a resounding success.
