The term ‘misfit’ has always been perceived with a negative connotation. No one compliments anyone a misfit because of it. Its synonyms, among others, are “deviant,” “odd fish,” “weirdo,” and “outcast,”. But it is not a bad word. When someone is proud of how unique they are and realise that they don’t fit in a specific group of people or a situation, they are a misfit - “nonconformist”, “individualist.” A ‘misfit’ simply, is someone different.
