The reference 130 is one of the most storied and researched of all the models manufactured by Patek Philippe. It was frst released in 1934 and remained in their production until at least 1964. As a legacy watch from the golden age of horology, this chronograph perfectly captures the spirit of traditional quality watchmaking and was produced in many variations and metals. Some of the earliest timepieces were custom ordered and ofen single button chronographs, however by the mid-1930s there was a growing demand from clientele and in 1936 Patek Philippe formalize the caliber 13-130, using the Valjoux chronograph caliber 13, and added the 130 to indicate it would be used for the now iconic chronograph. This caliber remained in use until 1986 when it was replaced with the Lemania caliber 12. The Emile Vichet case styled afer the famed reference 96 had a contemporary design that ft perfectly with the Art Deco period of the era. The same case maker as the references 1518 and 2499, today they are icons in horology for their clean lines with slightly curved lugs that remain elegant and masculine.
