EXETER
Football
P
hillips Exeter’s 2016 football team came together on September 1 ready to work. Since that day, we have grown to be much more than just a team. We’re a family. We rely on each other both on and off the field. Playing football for Exeter is an experience we’ll never forget. There are so many special aspects and traditions of Big Red football: “Together,” “4,” “Raider of the Week.” The entire team would like to thank Coach Morris, the rest of the coaching staff, Mac and Freddy, and the athletic trainers for all the work they put in every single day to make sure we are ready to play to the best of our abilities every Saturday. We’d also like to thank the fans who come up to support us at Phelps Stadium. This season there are a lot of new faces on the team because so many seniors graduated last spring. During preseason, the team started out with two captains; two more were added when classes started. Our schedule is so short that we are, of course, excited for every game, but E/A is like a whole separate season for us. During this one-week season, we forget about the last seven games and focus solely on beating Andover. Records get thrown out the window and anything can happen: drama, nail-biters, and epic comebacks are all par for the course. It’s an absolute privilege to suit up for the Big Red in November and play in “The Game.” The captains and the rest of the team would like to thank all the fans for coming out and supporting the blue and Big Red. We are excited to play our hearts out and let it all hang out, which is exactly what E/A is about.
