BANQUET NETWORK’S SPECIAL NEEDS SUNDAY OCTOBER 1, 2017 FREEDOM CHURCH

DISASTER RELIEF APPRECIATION DAY— NOVEMBER 5 On DISASTER RELIEF appreciation Sunday this year.... BRBA will be asking people to donate equipment and funds for equipment to outfit our new SEND RELIEF trailer that was purchased with the help of the North American Mission Board in August. The old DR trailer is in Immokalee Florida now with all of our equipment being used on a daily basis doing flood and hurricane relief in and through the First Baptist Church there. Teams from BRBA and BCM/D will be going down to that location for the next several months until the needs there are somewhat subsided. What we would need for DISASTER RELIEF APPRECIATION this year is that churches in BRBA; individuals, Sunday school classes, small groups, para church organizations, etc. to buy needed equipment for the NEW DR trailer which will be assembled this winter or to donate the cost of purchasing the needed equipment so we can purchase it.

Freedom Church and The Banquet Network would like to invite you to our Special Needs Sunday on October 1, 2017. Pastor Michael Crawford will discuss the importance of acknowledging, including, and serving with people in the church who have special needs and disabilities. People with special needs and disabilities are one of the largest unreached people groups in the world when it comes to learning about the gospel, therefore it is the belief of Freedom Church and The Banquet Network that the church is disabled when it does not include people with disabilities. Our hope is that this Sunday will change the way we the church see people with disabilities. Informational Session from 12:15-1:00pm. thebanquetnetwork@gmail.com

We hope to have a list of needed items and their estimated cost per item by the annual meeting so your church / group can pick what you want to raise funds for, and once you let us know of your intent - we'll ask others not to donate for that specific item. Be looking for the "shopping list" soon. The needs are GREAT! Between multiple hurricanes and a earthquake already this season, resources and volunteers have been stretched to our limits. Anything you could do to help would be a tremendous blessing! If you want to volunteer to go to Florida between now and Thanksgiving to serve, go to www.bcmd.org and click on the Disaster Relief tab for information on how you can deploy. You do not need prior training... we will train you as you serve. Thank you for supporting SBC Disaster Relief .... ________________________________________________________

THE HISTORY OF THE COOPERATIVE PROGRAM Since its inception in 1845, the Southern Baptist Convention (SBC) has always had one mission - the Great Commission (Matt. 28:19-20). To fulfill its assigned part of this divine mandate, each SBC entity made special offering appeals to the churches. This method was referred to as the "societal" approach to missions and resulted in severe financial deficits, competition among entities, overlapping pledge campaigns, and frequent emergency appeals which greatly hampered the expanding ministry opportunities God was giving Southern Baptist. Some entities took out loans to cover operating costs until pledges or special offerings were received. In 1919, the leaders of the SBC proposed the 75 Million Campaign, a five‐year pledge campaign that, for the first time, included everything - the missions and ministries of all the state conventions as well as that of the Southern Baptist Convention. Though falling short of its goals, a God‐given partnership of missions support was conceived - The Cooperative Program. Since its launch in 1925, the effectiveness of the Cooperative Program has been dependent upon individuals, churches, state conventions, and SBC entities cooperating, working toward a common goal of sharing the gospel with every person on the planet.
