PRINCESS GALYANI VADHANA INSTITUTE OF MUSIC
Princess Galyani Vadhana Institute of Music (PGVIM), now in its 11th year, continues to strongly uphold the vision and wishes of Her Royal Highness Princess Galyani Vadhana. With a steadfast commitment to excellence, the institute aims to expand its reach globally, making a significant impact in the field of music education and performance. By fostering collaborations and cultural exchanges with international institutions, PGVIM seeks to enrich its programs and provide students with opportunities to broaden their horizons. As an institution at the forefront of music education, PGVIM strives to nurture the next generation of musicians who possess a deep understanding of both classical traditions and the contemporary music landscape, preparing them for success in the global music community.
Founded in 2007 as a royal project commemorating Her Royal Highness Princess Galyani Vadhana Krom Luang Naradhiwas Rajanagarindra's 84th birthday, PGVIM continues to embody her vision of educating new audiences and establishing international standards for Thai musicians. The institute serves as a platform for students, musicians, professionals, and audiences to engage in musical experiences, foster dialogue, and share their passion for music.

Located near the iconic Rama VIII bridge and the historic Bang Yi Khan area, PGVIM not only leads in integrating music with other disciplines but also strives to preserve the rich history of traditional and classical music through community outreach and social projects.
Currently, PGVIM offers two innovative programs, Bachelor and Master of Music, where students are encouraged to interact and integrate existing tools to find creative solutions and innovations, promoting a deeper understanding of classical music in the contemporary global context.
The Princess Galyani Vadhana International Music Festival (PGMF) was inaugurated in 2020 by the Princess Galyani Vadhana Institute of Music, embodying the motto "A Festival of Musical Celebration, Promoting New Generations, and Creating Sustainable Society." Its first edition, themed 'Classical Music Next Normal', aptly captured the challenges that classical musicians have faced during the COVID-19 pandemic and will continue to encounter in the post-pandemic era. Beyond being a platform to celebrate the beauty and power of classical music, the festival aims to inspire and support musicians as they navigate the new normal.
Among the highlights of the PGMF are the Guest Artists Performances, which not only entertain but also serve as a wellspring of inspiration for the Thai audience and the emerging generation of classical musicians. The festival also features the Call for Artists Competition, now known as the Performance and Promotion Competition, providing a platform for young classical musicians to showcase their artistry through creative performances while honing skills in project writing, public relations, and cultivating a fanbase.
In addition to the captivating performances, the PGMF hosts the "Business Model Pitching Competition" as part of its commitment to finding sustainable approaches that make classical music accessible in Thailand. Recognizing the significance of establishing a viable and sustainable classical music industry, this competition seeks innovative solutions to address these challenges and create a flourishing environment for classical music in the country. By integrating musical celebration, nurturing new generations, and fostering a sustainable society, the PGMF embodies the ethos of its motto, enriching the cultural landscape of Thailand.
The festival logo, inaugurated in 2021, is inspired by the iconic Rama VIII bridge, where Princess Galyani Vadhana Institute of Music is located, the hidden G-clef within the institute logo, and by Saeng Neung Kue Rung Ngam (
) , a song about Her Royal Highness
Princess Galyani Vadhana. The song compares the princess to an invisible light that brings out the hidden goodness and the beauty when reflected upon. Thus, the logo represents the festival’s aim, to be a place to support classical music and to be a platform to showcase the talents of the next generation musicians.
