KIDS DAY

Kids’ Day at the Phoenix Film Festival SATURDAY, MARCH 28 - 9AM TO 2PM PHOENIX FILM FESTIVAL PARTY PAVILION Kids’ Day is a FREE event and a great way for children of all ages to come out and experience the festival. They can select from a series of hands-on activity stations focusing on different aspects of film production and geared to various age and ability levels. From coloring black line reproductions of the festival poster for the youngest to acting and creating their own short films for the oldest, kids will love this action-packed morning. Everyone will get a kick out of the soundtrack station, where they create a musical soundtrack to a fun film, and the screenwriting station, where they write a script “Mad Lib” style.

EDUCATIONAL OUTREACH

Middle and High School Educational Program Ever wondered what goes into making a movie? Ever wanted to be part of the action? The Phoenix Film Festival Education Outreach Program is a great place to start! Designed specifically for middle and high school students, this weeklong program during the Phoenix Film Festival allows you to join other students in creating a film from script to screen one day at a time. Each day different aspects of filmmaking will be explored with various Film Industry Professionals. From film lovers to filmmakers, and from writers to actors, these seminars are a great way to complement your school’s current curriculum witreal world exploration and application.

Filmmaker Panel

Pre-Production Day

FRIDAY, MARCH 27 | 9AM – 2PM You will start with meeting filmmakers who have films in the Festival. In this exclusive panel session, they’ll share about their experiences making films and answer your questions about the process.

WEDNESDAY, APRIL 1 | 9AM – 2PM On pre-production day, you will learn from industry professionals about storyboarding a script and planning out shots. You will get to create a plan for filming the script using tools and terminology from the pros!

Screenwriting Day

Production Day

TUESDAY, MARCH 31 | 9AM – 2PM Join other students in writing a script during the screenwriting day. A panel of successful screenwriters will share lessons and answer your questions, then help you in creating your own story. The best script moves on into preproduction!!

THURSDAY, APRIL 2 | 9AM – 2PM On production day, you will actually film the script using the materials from pre-production day. Working with actors and crew members, you will get to find out first-hand what it is like to be behind the camera, next to the lights, or holding the boom mic.
