Festas do Espírito Santo – São festas comuns a todas as ilhas, embora divergindo em alguns pormenores de ilha para ilha e até dentro da própria ilha. São consideradas as festas religiosas mais caraterísticas de toda a etnologia insular. Realizam-se de maio a setembro, com especial ênfase no 7º domingo depois da Páscoa e são da responsabilidade do Imperador. Festas dos Santos Padroeiros – As Festas dos Santos Padroeiros de cada freguesia também animam os meses de verão, com devotas procissões e animados arraiais. Estes festejos atingem o seu ponto alto em Vila do Porto, nas festas realizadas a 15 de agosto em honra de Nossa Senhora da Assunção.
The Holy Spirit Festivities – Celebrated throughout the Azores, the festivities differ from island to island and even within each island. They are considered the most characteristic of all the religious festivities. Celebrated from May to September, with a special emphasis on the 7th Sunday after Easter, they are organised by the Brotherhood of the Holy Spirit in each parish. Festivals of the Patron Saints – The Festivals of the Patron Saints of each parish also enliven the summer months, with religious processions and street celebrations. They reach their high point in Vila do Porto, in the celebrations held on 15th August, the day of Nossa Senhora da Assunção.
