prague archaeology museum This site is very complicated, it is the interface of two different urban principles. Old city structure of Malá strana and latter structure of Karlin from 19th century. This results in enormouse amount of impulses from surrounding area, I tried to pick only the most importnat ones for me. The most important is accentuation of the connection between new building and the City of Prague Museum, new museum will serve as an complementary building to the old one and it is still going to be same institution. I placed the current museum into the center of my design, circles from this center will influence not just the volume of my design, but also landcaping of the area between both museums. Prague archeology museum is imaginary coming from ground as lot of archeological artefacts does. From the whole volume of site coming up is by one of the circles created void area, serving as an public space in front of the entry to museum. This cut will create different type of facade, which will showcase the museum to the outside world, especially using potential of North-South highway going through the city right next to the site of new museum. Important for my project is also history of this place, especially railway station Těšnov, which has been here before and was torn down because of highway in 1985.


Main urban design idea for this project was to refer to the old museum building and thereby clearly show the connection between these buildings. For that I used system of circles with museum in its center. One of these circles created southern facade of my museum. These circles will be readible also in materials of public space and sidewalks around both museums.

DIAGRAM for visitors

For this project I used double skin facade, with corten steel for the external layer. By punching different size of holes in to the corten steel, I am able create various images reffering to the archaeology and in place reffering to the legacy of Těťnov railway station. In exactly the same place where original arch was, I recreated it, in the corten facade.

This project was bachelor thesis at the Faculty of Architecture at CTU. Part of the project was not just developing the concept idea but also creating construction documents, structural plans, details, static calculations etc. It obviuosly had some influence on the project in the latter phase and it slightly changed, but I was still able to retain the original ideas from the architectural study.

theater in garden Building or even designing anything to monastery garden of such an important monument as Emauzský klášter is, one must be very careful and cautious and have a great humility. Current state with tennis courts in monastery garden is absolutely outrageous and I am trying to fix it. My primary goal is to reinforce strengths, especially the monastery and its garden. Mass of my building is basicly formed by the surrounding environment, I obey street line of neighbouring building. From west is my limitation the eastern wall of monastery, I am not crossing the line of this wall and this is my way to respect the historical monument of monastery. In the same time I am building up to the same height as surrounding buildings. This project is bringing new function into the neighborhood, theater, it is an initiatory building. This project was awarded in student competition and showcased on architectural websites.

kansas state boathouse My design is formed by two basic elements, program and site. First the program of the buliding. The main purpose of building is to create an enviroment for the women´s rowing team. Because the boats are long and thin, the buliding also becomes long and thin to mimic this shape. Since the buliding is for watching the 2000m rowing race, I placed the buliding as an extension of this race. So, the pathway of the race is the basis for the line which defines the building. As the race proceeds, viewers will see the race in its entirety. The interior of the upper floor is well suited for viewing with a small amphitheater. The rowing tank for practice is also directed to this view, so that the racers may see the race line during practicing for motivation. The long walls which are parallel to this view define the view of the race. Articulated long walls from exposed concrete creates a frame for both the race and the surrounding nature, primarily the water. As a connection to the row team, the inner length of the building is 1863 inches. This length is derived from the year that Kansas State University was established. On an almost spiritual basis, the energy from the race is supposed to terminate and flow through the structure. To reinforce this strength of the race, I felt that concrete was a logical choice in material.

The space between building and parking is intersection of two elements. The water is represented with the direction of race which is the direction of building and the other set of lines represent the slope downwards based off of contour lines. Both elements are represented, geometrically as well as materially. Lines extending direction of a house are interrupted with spaces parallel with the the direction of contour lines. Details around the water elements are done in very similar manner as the Boathouse.

05 My design of castle rock building is derived mostly from surronding environment. Main idea is to continue and extend the rock looking up on the castle rock in front of it. As the rock consists from different shapes and stones, my proposal consists from many pieces as well. I used several elements to shape those pieces, every building has an view on at least one of the points of intereset. Most important is obviously the Castle rock, therefore all of the front suites has an view towards the Castle rock monument. If it is not possible to ensure view towards the main monument, I tried to ensure that there is another point of interest to see, for example the big rock or trees, both existing or new ones.

castle rock retreat I divided the program of building to have inside a single stone (building) one or two suites. Reception with a lounge and bar is in the biggest rock. Next to the biggest rock is the discovery center, which I designed as an interactive exhibition. Buildings structural material is concrete, but I chosed rainscreen double facade with a cor-ten steel as a visible material. To even more evoke the extension of the long cliff rock, I decided to shape the rainscreen part of a facade to remind organic shape of stone. But I still wanted to keep the walls straight, therefore I designed different length of metal supports holding the cor-ten steel.

residential house Designing resedential building into the central area of Prague was very interesting project. The location cleared pointed out that appartments will be very luxorioous, especially the ones in top floors with view over the beautiful landscape of red roofs of Prague and therefore one of the requirements was to achieve maximum floor area possible. I was supposed to design 6 storey building with a footprint of 24 by 24 meters, but from west and east there were another bulidings, in total 12 buildings next to each other. Another requirement was to keep in mind the real demand for appartments, which on the other hand was in favor of small and cheap flats. My final proposal exactly meets these requirements. In bottom floors I have small studios or one bedroom appartments and towards the top, there are bigger appartments, two or three bedrooms appartments. In the top two floors are 4 luxorious appartments with gorgeous views towards Prague.

my personal retreat This project took place in Divoká Šárka, natural reserve on the northwestern outskirts of Prague. You can find steep rocks, extensive meadows as well as romantic valleys with a stream flowing through. One of my essential concept was to respect this beautiful nature and fit into perfect environment. I was supposed to design an object, which would be possible to use throughout the whole year. Because of the nature of the surrounding environment I decided to work with more volumes, creating gradation and merging with adjoining rock.

art under ground The building in this project is formed of three elements adn their intersection underground. In a block 15 metres wide and long and 9 metres tall is inserted helix, which is all exhibition space and the art is displayed on the sourrounding walls of the original block. To bring daylight into the gallery, I have cut a hole in the middle of helix, with traingular prism. This prism rises above ground and creates interesting glass construction.

the architecture student Second project for Digital visual effects in architecture seminar was about explanating Le Corbusiers Ronchamp chapel with motion graphics. Video was composited of real life footage from university library and rendered animation of 3D computer model in Autodesk 3ds max. Footage was filmed with DSLR camera, motion tracked and composited in Adobe After Effects with sequences of animated chapell and motion graphics created in After effects and Illustrator. On this project I was collaborating with Scott Davis and Winston Wolf. Film is on vimeo website (https://vimeo.com/52918675).

left behind Final project for Digital visual effects in architecture seminar was about presenting piece of architecture through a story. Our idea was based on contrast between timeless architecture and through out the time corroding bike left in that architecture. For this purpose we picked Barcelona pavillion from Mies van Der Rohe and showed this architectural masterpiece through different year seasons. my signature

My goal was to create an 3 dimensional project, which could be my logo or signature. It is based on the similarity of my second name with a notion of mathematical symbol. “Šuma” is similar to “suma” (summary in czech), therefore I used mathematical symbol for sum as void around which I am building five prisms. Five because there are five symbols in my second name: S u m a and ˇ . According to importance of each of them, I decided the height of each prisms.
