THERE WAS A GUY CALLED COVID-19

by Vid Strojan Hi!

If you don’t know, there was once a 19year-old kid from China named Covid. He was always arguing with his parents and never listened to them. But wait, there is even more!

After a big apocalypse with people dying and getting in quarantine, he is still alive.

Before I tell you this story, I have to tell you THAT story!

After another boring day in school, he ordered sushi in a street take away. With sushi in his hand, he got on the bus, sat down and started eating. He was hungry so he ate very quickly. He had an hour and a half more to his home, so he fell asleep. After 15 minutes Covid was feeling sick, his head hurt, he could not even move and he had a dry cough.

At home, his mum told him that he couldn't go to school, but do you remember; when I told you that he never listened to his parents? Well that was the problem. He still went to school for the next two weeks and then people started dying from an unknown virus.

After research, a scientist, who was Covid's father, named the virus COVID–19. He did not want to blame his son, so he blamed bats.

Now you know why you are in quarantine and if you want, you can ask me for more information.

During the quarantine my mom usually wakes me up at 9 o'clock. Then I have my breakfast. After I eat my breakfast I brush my teeth. Then I do my homework. At two o'clock I finish with studying. Then I play video games until lunch. We usually have lunch between four and five p.m. Then I watch anime until I go to bed.

In Slovenia life isn't very exciting at this time because currently Slovenia is quarantined. There aren't many people outside. It is online school in Slovenia so children work from home. Adults work from home or they are still going to work like always.

During the week, the day starts at about 7.00 am. We have our breakfast together and we usually eat cereals or bread with salami and cheese. Sometimes my sister Neli has eggs. A lot of Slovenian people have breakfast like this. My mum leaves home at 7.20 am. She goes to work by car. Sometimes she goes to work by train or she rides her bike. The roads are busy because a lot of Slovenians go to work at this time. My sister and I leave the flat at 8 o'clock. We go to school on foot. We get home about 1.00 or 2.00 pm, but mum comes home about 4.00 pm. Slovenian people usually go home from work at 1.00 pm until evening hours. Then Neli and I do our homework and go to the music school. A lot of students in Slovenia have extracurricular activities (hobbies). We usually go to bed at 9.30 pm. At the weekend we sometimes go on a trip, we watch a good film or we play games. My mum (sometimes my sister and I too) do the housework. We go shopping, too. My mum likes walking our dog, so we often go for long walks. My sister and I often study. This is our normal day.

During the week, the day starts at about 7. I usually do not eat breakfast but my family and other people do. My mom and dad always drink coffee in the morning. But now that I have school online I eat breakfast with all of my family members because usually we do not have enough time for that. My mom leaves the house at 8. Both of my sisters leave at 7:30 and they go to school by bus. My dad usually works late or he has night shifts, it depends. I live 5 minutes away from my school so I walk.

My family always has dinner together because everyone is always at home. We have it at around 6 or 7pm. When I still had my volleyball practices we did not eat together every day. After our dinner I watch TV or do my homework and the same applies for my sister. My mom, and little sister go to bed at around 10 and me and my other sister go at 11 or 12 pm. At the weekend I had my volleyball matches and my parents came, but not anymore. Sometimes we watch a movie together or go for a walk on Golovec. I hang out with my friends and my dad and mom hang out with their friends but not as often as we used to. We also went to church every Sunday and to the supermarket afterwards.

During the week I usually wake up at about 7:30 and go to school at 8:00 am. The first class starts at 8:20 am. I have four to eight classes every day. When I get home, I play some video games and watch TV. After that I do my homework and sometimes read. Then I watch some more TV and go to sleep. During the weekend I sleep a lot and when I wake up, I play video games, go outside, watch TV, read …

At least that's how it was before the quarantine. Now I'm home all day but still I don't have enough time. I have about three classes every day and when I finish, I start playing video games but that doesn't last long, because my mom comes home and always finds something that I missed. Then in the evening I make plans for the following day, read some more and go to sleep.

I usually get up in the morning and have breakfast. Then I go on my computer and do my homework. Then I lie in bed all day. I go to bed around 11 pm.

Daily life in Slovenia at this time isn't very exciting. Students do their school work on computers. Some parents go to work and some are working from home. The whole Slovenia is currently in quarantine. We mostly can't go anywhere and there is a curfew at 9 pm.

Ljubljana is not such a big city, but it's big enough that I can get lost there. There are a lot of tourists in every part of the year, well, not this year because of the Covid, but usually there are. Sometimes there are even too many of them. Maybe somebody will think there are too many shops there, but I like shopping, so I'm good with that. For me, there are not enough art galleries. Well, I never even go in one, and I didn't even know if there were any in Ljubljana. There aren't any skyscrapers. And there are not enough cinemas either. I mean, I like Ljubljana the way it is, but it could still have more cinemas, because I love watching movies. There are too many shops, there are not enough cinemas...

Ljubljana is the capital city of Slovenia. Because it's a big city, there's too much traffic and that's bad. A lot of visitors from other countries come to Ljubljana because it's a beautiful city and anyway it's not as big as the other big cities. There isn't too much noise except when there are protests. In Ljubljana there are too many shops but there aren't enough hospitals I think.

I live in Ljubljana, the capital of Slovenia. I think it's a beautiful city because it doesn't have too many people and too much pollution. In Ljubljana there are a few churches and a castle that's been made into a museum. In the city center there aren't many cars because there are enough buses. Jure
