WELCOME TO HÖHENKIRCHEN HOME OF THE GRASSHOPPERS The Grasshoppers, the hockey department of the Höhenkirchen Sports Club, are especially proud to be hosting the very first Mami’s Hockey Tournament. Welcome to a real Bavarian weekend in the heart of Upper Bavaria, taking place during the traditional Leonhardi Fest in Höhenkichen-Siegertsbrunn! In 2012 we founded our Mami‘s Munich Hockey Team, the MINGA MUMS. Women from different Munich field hockey clubs got together as one Mom‘s team to play with and against teams of other countries. This tournament is an event from Moms for Moms. No kids, no partners – it‘s just about us, friendships and having lots of fun whilst playing hockey! We participated in tournaments in Spain and Belgium. With so many Moms wanting to come to the Munich area we decided to start our own tournament history as well. So here it goes ... It is a tradition in our little village of HöhenkirchenSiegertsbrunn to bless the horses once a year. In a very beautiful parade on Sunday morning with the country‘s traditional clothing and Bavarian festivities you can experience a true Bavarian event, the LEONHARDI FEST, if you‘d like. We‘ve chosen this weekend to let you know a bit of the Bavarian culture. On top, Munich is just a 25 minutes train ride away, inviting you with all its sightseeing opportunities. We are happy that the first Bavarian Mami’s Hockey Festival will be our first of many international tournaments on our brand new pitch! I am really pleased that of all places our little town has been chosen for the very first Mums Hockey Festival. You have made a great choice - to play sports and then to party!! We can contribute by adding a great atmosphere as the original Leonhardifest is taking place from Friday to Sunday, giving you the chance to get to know the Bavarian lifestyle and also to see how the Bavarians celebrate. I am absolutely certain, that those responsible for our Hockey department, have done a great job organising the “1st Bavarian Mami’s Hockey Festival”, just as you would expect them to. You can look forward to an exciting weekend of both sporting and social entertainment. It is also my pleasure, to welcome you on behalf of the entire club, Spielvereinigung Höhenkirchen e. V. Our club, which consists of eleven departments and nearly 3000 members, has a wide range of sporting activities on offer. This allows the locals and in particular the youth of Höhenkirchen-Siegertsbrunn to make the most of their free time in a constructive manner.

It is also important to note, that all of this is supported by the representatives of the local community, who share an interest in sport. They have provided us with exemplary facilities, a testament to their support, including both of our new artificial pitches, which we opened last year to commemorate our 70 year anniversary. To combine the Hockey Festival with the festivities of the Leonhardi Fest is an excellent idea from our hockey department. I am sure that the sporting element, the social and traditional aspects of the occasion will in particular bring joy and excitement to our friends from abroad. We would like to welcome all of the Mamis as well as our friends and members from Spielvereinigung Hรถhenkirchen. We wish all of you a lovely, exiting and entertaining festive few days.

WHAT TO EXPECT

FRIDAY, 8 JULY – EXPERIENCE THE BAVARIAN FESTIVAL We will meet in Höhenkirchen-Siegertsbrunn between 18:00 and 19:00 at the beer festival in a real Bavarian tent (Kirchenweg, Siegertsbrunn). You will experience a true Bavarian evening with music, Bavarian food, traditional Bavarian happenings & lots of laughter and fun. It’s not exactly the Oktoberfest – but to be honest – it’s a lot more traditional and more like the “real” Oktoberfest originally was.

SATURDAY, 9 JULY – HOCKEY DAY & SHOW NIGHT Our hockey tournament begins at 8:00 with the well known “flag parade”. So have your flags ready, mums! Between games there are special Bavarian “happenings” organized especially for you. The points you can get here will be included in your total team result. Refreshment is provided (coffee, cake, drinks). For Lunch we offer a Greek grill buffet at the Greek restaurant “Ammos” near by the pitch. If you need a relaxing massage in between games enjoy a short treatment in the dressing room of the Grasshoppers’ Clubhouse in change of a voluntary contribution/money donation. In the evening we will meet in the Bavarian restaurant “Inselkammer” at 20:00. A traditional buffet will be ready for you. As usual we request that every team prepares a little show. This year’s theme will be open. Your performances and the Player’s Party start after dinner.

SUNDAY, 10 JULY – BAVARIAN TRADITION-HORSE PARADE For the ones amongst you who would like to experience Bavaria at full length, come and watch the Bavarian horse blessing parade Sunday morning at 10:00 (ecumenical worship at 9:00 in St. Leonhard’s Chapel). Horses, participants and lots of the audience are dressed and decorated beautifully. As they parade around the village church the priest blesses the horses. With these wonderful pictures and memories we will say good-bye to you 4 and hope to see you again next year!
