Dr. Katie Howie

Dr. Katharine “Katie” Howie is an assistant professor at the College of Business and Economic Development at the University of Southern Mississippi where she teaches courses on digital marketing and social media strategy. She has published academic research in high quality journals such as the Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science, the Journal of Business Ethics, Journal of Product and Brand Management, among others. She received her Ph.D in business administration from the University of Mississippi, and an MBA and BS in marketing from Missouri State University. She is also on the editorial board for the Journal of Business Ethics. In her free time she loves to be outdoors, cooking, or playing with her pups and kids.

Emelie Johnson Vegh Emelie Johnson Vegh works in Carpe Momentum, a collaboration with (her Geek Week co-presenter) Eva Bertilsson. Their goal is to help people acquire knowledge and skills in science-based, modern, humane, and empowering teaching strategies for the benefit of learners of all species. Within Carpe Momentum, Emelie teaches seminars on the general principles of behavior and learning, coaching trainers in the skill of creating great training sessions regardless of venue or species. Emelie has a degree in education and is a high school teacher in Swedish and English (both language studies and literature). She added to her degree with further studies of both linguistics and children’s literature. She writes fiction for adults and has also published a series of children’s books with a focus on positive reinforcement training. She works as a translator and editor, reveling in finding ways to tell stories and make information available to a great many people. Together with Eva, she published the book Agility Right from the Start, which outlines the authors’ philosophy and structured approach to training – making it a worthwhile read not just for agility enthusiasts. Emelie has been part of the Clicker Expo faculty for many years, teaching together with Eva. Emelie and Eva, aka E&E, also introduced TAGteach to Scandinavia in 2005 and were the first European TAGteach faculty. Emelie lives with her husband, three children and two dogs in Malmö, Sweden. She enjoys many different sports and finding ways of breaking them down and teaching them to others, both adults and children. Her goal is to make learning accessible, interesting and fun. As a dog trainer, Emelie has experience from a variety of venues and has competed in various dog sports
