Welcome We are very excited to be the new co-directors of Ballet Stars and we would like to thank you for coming along to support our concert. Our students and teachers have been working incredibly hard on their routines and we are so proud of them all. We are both very passionate about providing students with a dance education that is professional and up-to-date, with global dance trends (both stylistically and artistically). We look forward to using our experience, our networks and our passion to provide endless opportunities for our students and teachers in the years to come. Some people have asked us why we want to offer such professional training when the majority of our students won't want to pursue a career in the performing arts. Our answer is simple, we believe that every student is entitled to the best education despite what they choose to do with it. We are very proud to offer students training and exams in the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) ballet syllabus which is the world’s largest ballet syllabus and a requirement of entry for the majority of professional ballet schools within Australia. In many states within Australia, RAD Vocational Graded qualifications are endorsed by State awarding bodies for credits towards the Certificate of Education. We are both dancers who grew up training in rural areas and went on to pursue professional careers internationally. We know what it takes and are excited to help local dancers achieve their big city dreams. We believe that dance as an art form can do magical things for both young children and adults. In the younger years it helps students with coordination, concentration, rhythm and discipline. As students mature, dance is also wonderful for confidence and fitness. It often becomes a way that many students express emotions and deal with many life challenges that come along. Dance can say more than a thousand words. We think we have found the best jobs in the world, every day we get to teach children of all ages and get to share in the exciting moments like finally learning to skip, finally nailing that triple pirouette or the first aerial. We take our jobs very seriously and we believe that as teachers we have a great responsibility. We understand that much of what we do is also teaching our students life skills and not just dance steps. At Ballet Stars we offer two part-time programs (one in ballet and one in musical theatre). These were previously known as our Rising Stars, however, we've decided to change that name because in our eyes, all of our students are rising stars. Some of them will grow up to be the type of rising star that will become a teacher, some will become nurses, some doctors, some scientists, some artists and maybe even some anthropologists! No matter what our students go onto achieve after their time spent in our school, in our eyes they will always be our rising stars. Thank you for supporting our Ballet Stars family. Kristi first started training in Wee Waa, NSW, she then went onto train in RAD ballet, tap, jazz and contemporary in Tamworth before continuing her dance education in Sydney and then the USA. Kristi was the full scholarship student at Urban Dance Centre in Sydney and the recipient of the Outstanding Student Award at the Broadway Dance Centre in New York City. Television credits include Good Morning America and Everybody Dance Now. Stage credits include the Off-Broadway production of Pygmalion with the Always Love Lucy theatre company, Microsoft Protégé at Sydney Theatre, NYC Fashion Week, The Lillian Booth Actors Home, Celebration of VOP: Frank Hatchett at Symphony Space and the Osvaldo Supino 2014 Living Again USA tour. Singing credits include John Forslund’s Bound for Broadway at the West End Theatre, The Duplex and The Broadway Comedy Club. Commercial credits include IBM for the 2016 Genius Awards and Pfizer’s Polase. You may recognise Kristi from the commercial for Runway Day Spa or as the dancer in the commercial for The Australian Wool Fashion Awards. Kristi is the co-producer of Sydney’s Don’t Dis Disabilities and the Wool Awards. Kristi has adjudicated in both the USA and Australia. As a judge Kristi is represented by Impact Dance Adjudicators (America’s only adjudication agency). Kristi attended McCarthy Catholic College before completing her senior schooling at Calrossy Anglican Girls School. While at school in Tamworth, Kristi performed in the Tamworth Musical Society’s productions of Annie, Showboat and The Boyfriend. Kristi is proud to be the Australian liaison for New York City’s Broadway Dance Centre and is passionate about providing opportunities for dancers in her home town.
Morgan Holt (Co-Director)
Morgan started training in dance at the age of four, following in her sisters footsteps. From a young age Morgan focused on ballet, which lead her to winning numerous championships Australia wide, high placings in the RAD scholarships and being accepted into the Australian Ballet Interstage Program. As Morgan’s love of dance grew, she moved into learning different styles which gained her a place at Urban Dance Centre to study full-time. Whilst still studying, Morgan found work teaching, working for Ubisoft and games such as Just Dance & Abba, photoshoots for BLOCH, Mercedes Benz & Dancetrain Magazine. From here Morgan gained a place as a Principal dancer in the contemporary company LOcREaDO, was assistant to Jason Winters, choreographed for numerous events (Mercedes Benz, Fashion Palette & X-Factor), performed on TV shows Everybody Dance Now & Dance Academy, then appeared in various music videos for australian artists. Morgan age 19, then received her first contract overseas for Princess Cruise Lines. Touring the world for several years, Morgan was then offered a land based contract in Dubai as a Dance Captain/Aerialist in the Pacha Dinner Show. Morgan has recently moved back to Australia and is focusing on training new up and upcoming talent.
Carolyn Magill (Director of RAD and Tap)

Carolyn is a registered Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) ballet teacher and a registered tap dance instructor in the Les Griffiths Tap Dancing Academy (LGTDA) syllabus. Carolyn has been teaching in Tamworth since 2013 and prior to that taught in Sydney and in the Southern Highlands of NSW. Growing up in Wollongong, Carolyn studied at Wollongong Dance Studio under Kerry Lester, taking classes in RAD ballet, tap, jazz, national character and contemporary. After completing a Degree in Biomedical Science (2002) at the University of Technology Sydney, Carolyn danced for Atelier School of Ballet in Bowral, NSW then in Sydney where she ran her own small studio. Completing her certificate in Ballet Teaching Studies (CBTS) in 2011 under Miss Eliza Harper (Nadine’s Academy of Dance), Carolyn has taught ballet, tap and contemporary dance in Tamworth since 2011. Carolyn is married with four children, two of which currently take dance classes.

Julie combines her extensive experience in customer service, retail and administrative roles to bring a welcoming vibe to all who attend the studio. Over the years she has worked in a variety of industries from banking and insurance to photography and fashion. Julie has experience in and is also currently working for NSW Department of Education as an Aboriginal Education Officer. Her current role covers children from Kindergarten to Year 6 - a friendly face who is always happy to assist you with your enquiries. Away from the studio, Julie has a passion for photography and has completed her Diploma in Photo Imaging with New England TAFE in 2013 for which she received the New Media Award for her commitment and high marks. She is the Official Photographer for Ballet Stars Tamworth. She also specialises in women’s contemporary and family portraiture.

Lucinda Burt (Teacher)
Lucinda started training in dance at the very young age of five years. Luci grew up studying RAD ballet at RAD Ballet in Tamworth and since she started, hasn’t stopped. Luci has a love and passion for contemporary and ballet and spends much of her time educating herself on these genres in particular. At the age of 14, Luci won the senior classical championship at the Tamworth Eisteddfod. After graduating from McCarthy Catholic College, Luci spent 18 months living in London, which is when she decided that she would come back to Australia and study to become an RAD ballet teacher. Luci is currently studying her Classical Ballet Teaching Studies (CBTS) with the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD).

Amanda Ward (Teacher) Amanda has as a passion for teaching Flamenco, demonstrating a strong, feminine style that is contemporary yet firmly planted in the traditions of Flamenco. She can’t wait to share this vibrant cultural art form with others. Amanda is an Acrobatics Arts Certified Instructor and has been teaching Acro Dance at BST since 2016. Formerly, Amanda has been a Queensland Womens’ Artistic Gymnastics Coach, instructing a range of gymnastics programs from Kindergym to Competition Level 4. She also holds her Diploma in Classical Yoga and has previously taught Pregnancy Yoga, Baby and Me Yoga, Yoga for Kindy, School-aged Yoga groups, and Adult Yoga. Amanda also has experience in working in both the Queensland and NSW Education systems as a Deputy Principal, Performing Arts Coordinator, Film and Television Panel Member, and teacher, providing her with the expertise to teach students from pre-primary age to adult. Outside the studio, Amanda works in Child Protection and her commitment to working with children is evidently consistent. She looks forward to sharing her skills, knowledge and experience with BST students and families. Amanda currently has one of her own children in our Part-Time Ballet Program, and enjoys undertaking BST Adult classes herself. She is the founder of the Dance Fitness Class newly added to the Ballet Stars curriculums as a short introduction to dance program for new beginner adults looking to have fun and enjoy learning new skills in a safe environment.
Shelby Botfield (Teacher) Shelby started her dance education at The Owl and The Pussycat School of Dance at the age of 6 and started Physie from the age of 2. She grew up studying all styles of Dance and was selected in the Owl and The Pussycat Dedicated and Talented classes. She continued her training in Dance, adding Gymnastics to her education. Shelby is an Acrobatic Arts Certified Teacher and studied her Cert IV Dance Teaching and Business Management through Australian Teachers of Dancing. Shelby first started teaching with assisting in the Little Gems Class at The Owl and the Pussycat and has continued her teaching to go on to be a qualified APDA Physie Teacher and has placed nationally in APDA Physie with national 3rd, 4th and 5th placings. She has extended her dance training with numerous workshops such as the McDonald College International Summer School. She wishes to extender her dance knowledge even further. Shelby has also been in multiple shows and concerts including New England Capers and Dance Festival as a featured artist, Carmen Sweet by Expressions Dance Company, Dancer and Model at the Australian Wool Fashion Awards and a backup dancer for multiple singers.
Emmalene Tinson (Teacher) Emmalene started dance at the age of three years old. She grew up studying ballet, jazz, contemporary, lyrical and Hip-hop at The Owl and the Pussycat Boutique School of Dance. After starting dancing at Ballet Stars in 2015, Emmalene soon became a trainee teacher in 2016 here at Ballet Stars as she studied her Cert IV in Dance Teaching and Business Management through the Australian College of Dance. She is now a dance teacher at Ballet Stars. Emmalene has danced in multiple shows and concerts including School Spectacular in Sydney, Phantom of the Opera by The Tamworth Musical Society, Cosmic by Australian Entertainment Works and a backup dancer for multiple singers.

Tim Godden (Teacher) Tim is an accomplished musician with a diverse range of musical interests. He is a classically trained pianist and obtained his A.Mus.A at the age of 16. Tim’s heavy involvement with the Tamworth Musical Society has been invaluable in developing his musical skills, having been Rehearsal Pianist or Musical Director for most productions since 2003. He has had experience in working with a wide range of vocal abilities and strongly believes in encouraging singers to “follow the musical dots” when learning new songs. Tim’s involvement throughout the wider musical community is extensive. He regularly accompanies instrumental musicians for recitals and exams and has a small piano teaching studio. Tim is coMusical Director and keyboardist of the 2340 Big Band, organist at St John’s Anglican Church and was Musical Director for the entertainment at the 2014 and 2015 Quality Business Awards held at TRECC. He is also the Choir Director at McCarthy Catholic College. Tim is pleased to be able to share his skills and experience with the students at Ballet Stars.

Part-Time Ballet Program Our Part Time Ballet Program is designed for students who are interested in exploring a career in classical ballet. Students are accepted into this program on an audition basis and spend a minimum of 10 hours intensitve training at the studio each week. Students in this program work closely with Miss Morgan in an environment where we customise our training for each individual student. We understand the demands required of ballet dancers and also the challenges that come with pursuing this dream from a rural area. We work closely with each individual family of these students to consistently provide training that works for that student.
