RESCUE and assistance Design and construction of each model fulfill the need for reliable, low maintenance standby and operation. The craft are designed to provide excellent maneuverability and sea keeping abilities in order to fulfill their prime function – to provide an effective means of search and recovery of persons missing at sea.
Ready for operation The Norsafe fleet of rescue boats are designed and manufactured according to SOLAS, Classification Society and National Authority requirements. All equipment has been approved and Wheel Marked in accordance with the EC Marine Equipment Directive.
As an option, the boats can be fitted with a mechanical override engine control system. Even if all on board engine electronics are heavily damaged or should fail completely, this system allows for the engines to be manually and mechanically run. This ensures a safe return for the crew to land or to the mothership.
In accordance with current IMO regulations, all Roll-on / Roll-off vessels must have fast rescue boats – having a minimum length of 6m and top speed of at least 20 knots.
Rescue and other missions The Norsafe rescue boat’s layout and performance allows them to perform efficient rescue actions and other roles including boarding, work boat and survey duties.
Rescue and fast rescue boats Typical propulsion is diesel engine with water jet, but boats can be delivered with outboard engines and some models with shaft driven propeller. The diesel engines are equipped with fresh water engine cooling. Typical engine power is from 140hp to 440hp. Waterjets are suitable for both shallow waters as well as high speeds in adverse conditions. When equipped with minor engine for 6 knots operation, the boat is classified as rescue boat only.

Reliable in all situations The boat’s deck area is self-bailing. Norsafe rescue boats are made of fibreglass reinforced fire retardant-polyester (GRP). Both hull and innerliner are one piece mouldings, bonded together with the resulting spaces filled with buoyant foam, making the boat unsinkable even when damaged. Norsafe are able to use advanced construction methods and materials to provide the strongest and most durable hulls available in the industry. The hull is protected by a heavy duty fender which is shock absorbing and will not absord water. The fender is low maintenance, double skinned and ultimately easily replaceable. Following fabrication, all Norsafe boats are fully Factory Acceptance Tested (FAT) to ensure the boat performance and on board systems are fully functioning according to standard test procedures and the agreed specification for the equipment. Customers are welcome to attend FAT and sea trials at Norsafe’s factory which has easy ocean access.
Lifting arrangements Typical lifting is by single point off-load arrangement, but multi-point lifting slings are available on request. Design features: • Aft deck watertight hatch giving access to batteries, automatic bilge pump, drive shaft and waterjet • Equipment storages with hatches • Manual and electric bilge pump • On load painter release hook • Towing and mooring attachments • Secure grab handles throughout the boat • Anti-slip deck surface • Lifelines fitted on the gunwhale • Wet exhaust system • Dual engine shut off in case of capsize or driver emergency, provided by dead man switch and mercury switch • Sprayhood to protect persons on deck • Norsafe can provide equipment items from well known suppliers, including motor and propulsion alternatives, rescue equipment, navigation and communication equipment, lighting and custom deck equipment.
