VONNIESSEN HENRY Henry was born January 25, 1929 in Rosthern, Saskatchewan and passed away at age 81 on June 1, 2010 after a 14 year battle with cancer. Survived by his wife of 55 years Laura; children Sharon (Greg) and Sandra (Brian); his 4 grandchildren: Ryan, Charlene, Allyanna and Andralyn. Henry spent a number of years in the Okanagan Valley as owner of Superior Peat. A very special, heartfelt thanks to the nurses and staff on the Palliative Care Ward at Abbotsford Regional Hospital. A celebration of life service will be held Friday, June 4 at 10:00 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, 3845 Gladwin Road, Abbotsford, with reception to follow. Left behind the hardships she endured for 18½ years and was promoted to a new life. She leaves behind parents Trude and Gerry Schalm. Siblings Corinna, Kyle, Terry, Janis and Jared. Dozens of aunts and uncles and 140 cousins. Also surviving are her birth Father, siblings, grandparents and uncles. She was pre-deceased by her birth mother. FLAHERTY Robert Edward (Bob)

Of Penticton, BC and formerly of Ottawa and Hamilton, ON passed away peacefully on May 30, 2010 at the age of 74 years after a lengthy battle with Parkinson’s Disease. Dear Husband to Jill (Hyatt) of Penticton, Dad to Shawne, Darlene (Brian) Coles and Jennifer (Bryan) Gunn, all of St. Albert, AB. We were Bob’s Girls and he was a best friend to all four of us. He was also Papa to Branden, Travis and Evan Coles and Amy, Ellen and Lucy Gunn. Bob also leaves behind one sister Joan (Stan) Ritchie and one brother Garry (Judy) Flaherty. Bob was predeceased by his parents Robert Sr. and Mary Flaherty. Bob was a dedicated employee of Revenue Canada Taxation Department for over 30 years. He was an active member of Branch 40 of the Royal Canadian Legion, Penticton. Past Master of Corinthian Lodge AF&AM No. 513 GRC Hamilton, ON. Member of Orion Lodge AF&AM No. 51 GRC Penticton, Murton Lodge of Perfection, Hamilton, Penticton Chapter of Rose Croix, BC Consistory, 32 Degree Mason, Gizeh Temple Arabian Band of the Shriners, Masonic Past Masters Association, Columbia Basin Past Master’s Association. Bob enjoyed his volunteer work, especially with Ironman Canada in its inaugural years. Bob’s Family would like to thank all of his caregivers at the Concorde and Westview North for all you have done for Bob in his last years we cannot say enough on how grateful we are. Remembering... A bbrother, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, friend. Fred Kay gr ppassed away on Monday, May 10th, 22010. He was predeceased by his wife Lynn Kay and daughter Lois Truant. Fred will be missed by his sister, Frances (Gordon) Parker, his children, Arlene (Gordon) Simpson, Garry (Tammy) Kay, Bruce G ((Louise) Kay Sharon (Rick) Wilcox his grandchildren, Doug Simpson, hi Bob (Karen) Simpson, Becky (Dave) Bo Kay, Chloe Elmer, Josephine Kay, Kay Tara (Matt) Sherlock, Lisa (Gerald) Bouchard, Sadie Hanon, Tracy (Michael) Bouchar McKenzie, Terri (Greg) Stewart, Christine and M K i T Jacqueline Wilcox, and his great-grandchildren, Emma and Clara Simpson, Katelyn Kay, Hailey and Alexis Sherlock, Connor, Mason, Jaxon, and Gracie Bouchard, Sophie and Molly McKenzie, Sydney and Bradley Stewart, and many long time friends and colleagues. Fred was born in Penticton, and lived in Kaleden and Penticton. He was the proprietor of Hunt Motors on Main and later worked for Weyerhaeuser, Inc. Fred liked to spend his winters in Arizona where he made many more friends. He will be remembered most for his love of cars, ‘patience’ with fishing, skill at woodworking, 64 years with the Gyro club and his enthusiastic performances as a Shriner clown, helping those in need in our community. So long brother, husband, father, grandfather, greatgrandfather, friend; gone but not forgotten. A service for Fred and his wife Lynn will be held on July 31st at 11:00 a.m. at the Saint Saviour’s Anglican Church at 150 Orchard st. in Penticton.
