Inspired by the giant Illustrated index of imagined animals, work with professional animators to bring your own imagined animal to life in these hands-on workshops.

13 Junior Rangers – Fins, Scales and Tails: Join the City of Melbourne Park Rangers for an aquatic adventure in Royal Park this summer. Participants will engage in a series of games, activities and craft that explore the murky and mysterious world of Melbourne's waterways and the creatures that inhabit them.

15 The Peasant PrinceMelbourne Recital: Best-selling children’s book The Peasant Prince comes to life with music, storytelling and big-screen projections. Li Cunxin’s inspirational tale based upon his autobiography, Mao’s Last Dancer, traces the journey of a young boy from rural China who, against all odds, becomes one of the most famous dancers in the world.

ACMI Kids Flicks-The Little Mermaid 3D: Hans Christian Anderson's classic fable gets a spirited Disney makeover in this 1989 adaptation, one of their last animated films to use traditional handpainted cels. 22 Splash into Summer at the Healesville Sanctuary- Chill out in our misty spray zones, wade through the Badger Creek Sprinkler Spray and discover how our animals keep cool over the warmer months. If you’re lucky enough, you might get a glimpse of our Dingoes cooling off in one of their favourite pastimes - walking through Badger Creek or see a gorgeous Goanna going for a dip.

25 Sand SculptingFrankston Waterfront For four months from Boxing Day 2014, the Frankston Waterfront will be again transformed as over 3,500 tonnes of sand is carved into spectacular sculptures as Disney, Pixar, Marvel and Star Wars characters come to life in large scale sand sculptures

26 Docklands Australia Day- Take part in the free face painting, embrace the Docklands breeze with free kite making and flying and enjoy the entertainment around the Docklands precinct for all-Australian family fun.
