Pegasus Gymnastics 2 YOUTH OLYMPIC CHAMPIONS at PEGASUS! As you all know Pegasus had two boys selected as part of the Youth Olympic GB Team! There was an expectation that the Team would do very well, and they meet that expectation. James Hall and Courtney Tulloch both aged 17, helped the team to take the Gold medal, following on by storming the Individual Event and Apparatus finals! Courtney returned home as the Youth Olympic Champion on Rings! And James on Floor! James also took Silver on Pommel and Bronze on Vault.

What a result for the both the boys, the club, their families, and of course Ionut and the coaching team at the club! Congratulations to all.

YSAA AWARDS EVENING The Youth Sports Achievements Awards are held every year. Congratulations to the following gymnasts that were nominated: Annabel Agba, Euan Cox, Isaac Frimston, James Hall, Courtney Tulloch, Hattie Molloy, Harrison Cassella, Abigail Clarke, Maisie Jones, Jodie Cain, Ruby Chandler, Ben Quinney, Aisling Day, Gareth Thomas and Grace Pitman The awards came to a closing and the following gymnasts had received recognition as a winner within their category: Abigail Clarke, Ruby Chandler, Harrison Cassella, Hattie Molloy, Courtney Tulloch, and James Hall. Congratulations once again to all nominated.

ANNUAL FESTIVAL We have booked this years Annual Festival for

30th June 2013. The event shall be held at Mote Park Leisure Centre. The theme of this years festival is Circus! Keep the date free in your diary!

AWARD SCHEME Congratulations to all those that have already managed to pass a badge, or 2, maybe even 3! Badges shall continue until 9th March 2013.

TERM DATES Half Term is 18th— 24th Feb 2013 All Recreational classes and Squads shall continue to run There shall be no Kindergym classes during these dates and shall resume week beginning 25th Feb.


OUR NEXT MEETING DATE IS: 27TH FEBRUARY BETWEEN 6—9PM AT THE GYM Please come along and help us to come up with some great ideas of ways we can Fundraise for the Club! There is no agenda for this meeting and we welcome everyone with tea and biscuits!

HAVE YOU GOT AND NO LONGER WANT?........... Any DVD’s, CD’s or Computer Games that you no longer use? We would like to create an area that these can be rented from the club at a minimal cost! If so please leave them in a bag in the social area at the gym.

MOTHERS DAY—11TH MARCH Do you have any unwanted Lady’s gifts that you could donate to the club? Keep your eyes open for our Mother’s Day event

FACILITY UPDATE Another Facility Presentation completed Sunday 27th January! All those that attended received refreshments on arrival, a guided tour of the facility that shall be some 3 times the size of our current gym, and a presentation explaining where we have come from, and where we shall get to! The next presentation shall be held on Sunday 24th February between 1 - 3pm. Do come along to see what progress has been made and also to see how you could help your club grow and turn from this dream into reality!

UP AND COMING COMPETITIONS

We have developed an organisation for the ENGLISH CHAMPIONSHIPS—1ST—3RD MARCH younger members of the club called “Green EUROPA GYMNASTICS CENTRE Wings” . Its mission is to enthuse, inspire, motivate, help and encourage the young to reach out and embrace the idea of contribWOMEN’S REGIONAL GRADES—9TH—10TH MARCH uting towards shaping the world of the fuGUILDFORD SPECTRUM CENTRE ture.

“Where passion and talent are fused together by a common purpose: To make a difference in their lives and the lives of others.” Samuel Brooker and Rosy Wright were the 1st members of this organisation as they have made a significant contribution towards the “New Facility Fund”

SENIOR MEN’S BRITISH—22—24TH MARCH LIVERPOOL ECHO ARENA DOVER GIRLS FLOOR & VAULT—24TH MARCH DOVER GYMNASTICS CLUB

FLOOR & VAULT TAKE PART IN GYM FUSION EVENT The Floor & Vault Squad took part in the East Regions Gym Fusion Event Sunday 10th February. The theme was “Magical” and the title of our team’s performance was “The Magnificent Mask”.


FUNDRAISING VALENTINE BALL Wow! What a fantastic evening…. Drinks on arrival, table magician, a delicious 3 course meal, auction, Michael Buble tribute singer, and party till early hours in the morning! What shall next year include? A huge Thank you to Debbie Shephard for organising the evening and the Friends of Pegasus. The event raised a huge £5275, £1000 of this total due to the sale of 2 large momentous frames one containing a signed photo of James Hall and the other Courtney Tulloch with their medals from the Youth Olympics and a action shot taken and designed by our club photographer Helen Cooper.

We have extended the Book sale as it has been so successful and we are still receiving new books! If you have any more books that you would like to donate then please leave them in the social area for pricing

Visit the club website and sign up to support Friends of Pegasus. Then whenever you go through the Easyfundraising website to shop online at any of the thousands of retailers supporting the scheme, including Tesco, Sainsburys, M&S, Argos and Asda, the retailer will make a donation to The Friends to support club funds.

WALL OF HONOUR If you have made a donation or raised money for the Facility Fund visit the club website to see if you are on our wall of Honour…….. A real duplicate shall be put in place at the new facility!

PYJAMA WEEK

BAD WEATHER LEADING TO CLUB CLOSURES

We have exciting news! We shall be having a pyjama week! Yes that means that you can come to the gym and participate in your class wearing pyjamas between 4th – 9th March……

Winter is here and the snow should it arrive again will inevitably cause problems! Should for any reason the club be closed due to bad weather it shall be posted on Facebook and on the Club Website.

The idea has come about from a group of girls in the Saturday 10.30 class as a fundraiser. We are asking for a small donation of £1 per head!
