Inside this cosy and quaint café you’ll find an assortment of tables complete with wooden tubs filled with crayons, pencils and textas for the wee ones to enjoy, a craft menu and of course a food menu. Kids and adults are free to choose crafty activities like painting, badge making, collage and more with prices starting from as little as $1 and $2 per activity depending on what you would like to whip up. The helpful staff are only too happy to assist you with questions you may have about the craft menu while also fetching you a coffee – yes, one could safely say Crafternoon café is the place to visit to get a caffeine and craft hit all rolled into one.

The big sweetener for kids at Chester White are the iPads which are filled with child friendly games, not the blood and guts shooting ones, but wholesome fun educational ones. Mr 3 is slightly obsessed with my iPhone games at the moment so it was the perfect distraction – while we ate, he was in gaming heaven. The kids were perfect, I must say. Mr 3 had his orange juice and meal brought out to him quickly and Mr 1 was more than happy to munch on the grainy table bread and watch the chaos of the kitchen behind him. The kids’ menu is basic but very tasty and is very gourmet compared to your average kids’ menu and includes margherita pizza, penne napoli and good old fish and hips.

Recently renovated, The Plough is a cosy place with two open fireplaces and two areas to dine in. The new owners have revamped the pub, the menu and even have a cosy B&B for overnight visitors. The menu consists of good wholesome country pub food that is done to perfection. Now what about the little ones? Well The Plough has covered all bases for us foodie parents. For dirty bottoms, they have a change table in the toilets. For dining, The Plough offers highchairs and a good little kids’ menu, which has a variety of choices such as calamari, fish, pasta and even a junior steak, all at the very affordable price of $6 with chips.
