Motherwell’s Imbasa Primary wins national music competition NCEBA DLADLA

I

MBASA Primary School girls made Nelson Mandela Bay and the Eastern Cape proud for winning the South African Schools Choral Eisteddfod Music National Competition in the Sextet category early this month.

The dedicated girls, Yonela Tenge, Silindokuhle Mtanase, Ntulikazi Cacela, Thembakazi Gagayi, Mihlali Giya and Anelisiwe Manase, aged between 10 and 12 years from the impoverished area of NU12 Motherwell in

Port Elizabeth, competed in the German piece “Seid uns zweiten” and won the hearts of the national adjudicators in the competition held at the Rhema Church, in Midrand, Johannesburg from July 2 to 3, 2013. Though the competition was held during the province’s mid-year vacation, it was not a problem for dedicated school choir conductor Nyameka Vara who has found her replicas in these highly talented children she fondly referred to as “my angels.” “It wasn’t easy during the school holidays but the parents and members of staff gave me their full support. Even when we were still on

the road, they phoned asking where we were and whether everything was fine. We had to do it for them,” said Vara proudly. She added, “On arrival we had mixed feelings. There was that excitement of taking part in a national competition in Gauteng, and the fear of having to face a tough competition from the best choirs in the country. The KwaZulu-Natal choir sang well, but my little angels were focused. They told me not to worry.” According to Vara, one of the adjudicators commented about her children’s age and understanding of a foreign song and said he wished they could join a musical theatre.

“We are very proud of what Ms Vara has done, taking our children from nothing and making them the champions of music in the country,” said Imbasa principal Phopho Mayekiso. According to Mayekiso, Vara brings a sparklight in an area otherwise doomed with unemployment, poverty, crime and drugs. SGB Deputy Chairperson Anele Ramabele said that wherever they come from, children have dreams. With this kind of nurturing and support, he was certain that their future would be bright. “As parents, we are very happy!” he said.

Unathi cherishes coming home to PE to sing and say thanks NCEBA DLADLA MUSICIAN, actress and Metro FM presenter Unathi Msengana will be part of the panel of Idols judges in the forthcoming season.

Joyous Celebration 17 comes to PE in a Grand Finale NCEBA DLADLA MULTI-Award winning gospel ensemble Joyous Celebration will be taking their MTN Joyous Celebration Tour to Port Elizabeth at the NMMU Indoor Sports Centre, Missionvale Campus on August 2 and 3. Fresh from Durban’s ICC the 50 powerful ensemble is promising electrifying performances to mesmerise the audiences in the grand finale of their 2013 Grateful Annual Tour. The tour kicked off in Carnival City, Johannesburg, earlier this year. “The Grateful Tour has seen sold-out shows in all the cities it has visited, delivering astonishing performances that left the fans anointed by the Holy Spirit and singing along to every song; and now it is the friendly city’s opportunity to witness the spiritual fulfilment of the Grateful Tour,” said Nomsa Zwane, of Dinoko Communications. Nelson Mandela Bay fans will also get an opportunity to see their own shining stars

Phelo Bala, Unathi Mzekeli and Sylvester Funani, with the last-named dishing his solo act “Ingxangxasi”. The ensemble’s latest offering does not disappoint. They are giving their all in a performance that is breath-taking and inspiring from beginning to end. “We have been so blessed on this tour having performed to sold out audience of over 20 thousand fans around the country since the beginning of the tour,” said co-founder and producer of the ensemble Jabu Hlongwane. Pastor Holongwane said the love and support that they have received from fans during this tour was amazing and that they appreciated it. “The MTN Joyous Celebration ‘Grateful Tour’ has been nothing short of remarkable. It is only fitting that it concludes in PE where fans are sure to be left in awe of the ensembles’ amazing performance,” said Ryan Gould, MTN SA Brand and Communications General Manager. Tickets are available at Computicket and Shoprite priced between R150 andR300.

Gauteng-based multi-award winning musician visited her “home” Nelson Mandela Bay last Friday for special a concert named “An Intimate Night with Unathi” at the Boardwalk International Conference Centre (ICC) to launch her live DVD. An intimate night with Unathi featuring her friends and producer Kabomo was a milestone for Unathi’s musical career. She financed the project herself and was excited about the prospect of launching it at home. “The show,” she said, “is about my journey, my growth, my joys and my sorrows.” Nothing was so important to Unathi than coming here to sing her own songs and tell her own stories. “This is to say thank you to the people of the province who have been behind me all these years,” said Unathi who spent some of her childhood in Tshiwula Street, New Brighton and attended St Joseph’s Primary School. According to Unathi, to come home is one thing, but to come and say thank you is quite another. She proudly said, “I have since evolved. I have grown and I want to share that with my people. I want them to see my 10-years’ growth since I started my musical career. I am now a mother, a wife of my husband Thomas Msengana’s AmaBhele clan and a business woman.” Unathi has grown tremendously from the young lady who sang Usana Lwam with Zola during the Metro FM Awards in Port Elizabeth in 2006.

This Rhodes University journalism graduate who also got an opportunity to study and qualify in International Media Studies at a University in Netherlands, spent some years in Namibia and Cardiff, Wales. “But the beautiful Eastern Cape culture, which is bold, bright and beautiful, will always be my first love. This is the place that gave you stars like the Bala Brothers, Zahara and Simphiwe Dana. For me, this is something you can be proud.” Juggling motherhood, radio, music, idols judging and being a co-owner of a production company was not easy for Unathi. But, she succeeds “because of the Grace of God, being strict with time management and working with a team of incredibly gifted musicians with whom I share something wonderful.” For her 67 minutes for Mandela, Unathi and her company gave food, clothing, blankets and shoes to the needy in New Brighton.

Cikizwa Saul from New Brighton in Port Elizabeth. I was diagnosed with asthma and tonsillitis when I was twelve years old. In 2009 I started experiencing backache and headaches and was later diagnosed with high blood pressure. I went to the clinic for treatment but in 2010 I overheard people in the taxi talking about Gotha products. I stopped the taxi at the Pick n Pay centre and bought Gotha spray and sprayed it on my back and rubbed it in. I also sprayed it in my mouth. At home I washed my swollen feet and sprayed my feet. Within three days I experienced no more pains and my blood pressure was normal. I advise people to buy Gotha products. They are excellent products and you will see the results. Go forward Gotha Health. I am Siphe Mfihlo from Whittlesea (Queenstown) now residing at Orange Farm (Gauteng) My situation was beyond redemption before I learned about Magogotha health products. I had exasperating stomach problems, my face was covered with something like dandruff, which was embarrassing to appear in public. I read about this Gotha health product in a newspaper and visited one of their stores where I bought Ostrich Oil Soap, Re-gen Skin Cream and Herbal Tea blend. I utilised this product for a while and within three weeks there was a massive change in my body and to my face. I value the product and I recommend it to the nation or for everyone with the same problem. Thank you for making a difference in my life and keep up the good work and for making us proud of your Gotha products.

My name is Siqhamo Mnyazi. Last year I injured my shoulder when I was playing football with friends. I experienced a lot of pain; I couldn't even sleep the first night. My radio was on Umhlobo Wenene FM and I heard about the Gotha Health products. I went to the pharmacy to buy the Magogotha twin pack. I used the Aloe spray regularly on my shoulder. It was unbelievable. Just 3 weeks and I was healed. I will suggest the Gotha products to any person with a sport injury. Gotha products work 100%. I recommend the Gotha product, thank you GOTHA HEALTH.

My name is Vuyiswa Gwaqu from Siya Street, Joe Slovo in Port Elizabeth. One day I was cleaning my yard, when I felt a sharp pain in my spinal cord. The doctors diagnosed me with stress, arthritis and tonsillitis. It was very painful. I heard people talking about Gotha Products on the radio and early the next morning I took a taxi to a Gotha shop in the Pick n Pay centre. I bought a Twin Pack and Aloe Spray. I used the products and after just two weeks I could see the improvement. Then my husband passed away and I didn't have enough money to buy the products. It was a very stressful time, but then I bought the Herbal Tea blend and the stress was gone. Forward Gotha! Forward. Carniboost + Hypermag - Twin pack is a

combination of Magnesium and L-Crnitine. Magnesium is an essential mineral for staying healthy, it improves muscle function and prevents insomnia, constipation, heart attacks, hypertension and migraines. L-Carnitine has been found to improve the body's ability to improve memory, increase energy, raise metabolism, and enhance overall quality of life.

Oxi-Vite is an easy way to ensure that you are getting the adequate supply of vitamins, minerals and antioxidants that you need each day. Available in adult syrup and children's syrup. Gotha Oxi-Vite has specifically been made a liquid formulation as liquid nutrients are absorbed faster and more effectively.

Eunice Tokwe from Kwazakhele in Port Elizabeth. Previously I had a job in a restaurant, but had to stop working due to my knee problem and high blood pressure. I couldn't walk for long distances and it was difficult to stand for any length of time. As time passed I heard people on the radio speaking about Gotha Twin Pack. I visited one of their branches in Dasi, accompanied by my grandchildren. They had to carry me to the top of the stairs. I bought the Twin Pack and Aloe spray. I drank the tablets and drops in the morning and applied the spray to my knee. I have been using Magogotha products now for five years and honestly, I can walk again without any assistance and I have no more pains in my knee. I do all the cleaning at home myself and there is nothing I cannot do. Furthermore, my sister had blisters on the back of her ear. I also gave her Gotha spray. Within seven days my sister was completely healed and the blisters disappeared. When I go for checkups even my high blood pressure is normal. I will use Gotha Products till the end of my life.

My name is Tornado Khetho from Lusikisiki in Ngobozana location. I injured my knee playing football with some of the guys in my community. I heard about Gotha Health. I bought the Gotha spray and Gotha soap. Within three days my knee was better. Go gotha Magogotha, your products are something to be proud of. Thanks Gotha health.

Ntengento highlighted that despite being unemployed, kids needed to be treated with dignity especially on Mandela Day, because President Mandela “loves children.”

Flamingo 15-12. In Junior Section League Loyiso Stars and Brazil Stars gave a good account of themselves when they drew 9-9 in the tough encounter. Flamingo punished Island City 10-0 in the one- sided affair.

SELBY MADIKANE Stars comprising the former and current learners of Esitiyeni Public Primary School decided to embark on cleaning that school in honouring the ailing world icon Nelson Mandela during his 95th birthday. According to Stars President Elliot Zonke their club could not afford to watch other people doing good for the needy people. “We decided to beautify our community’s all important school after having assessed the situation of their grounds. Moreover, this is the time to do something for the needy people. This world-revered icon Madiba has taught the world to be united and do away with selfishness. May Madiba recuperate speedily”, said President Zonke. Stars Deputy President Rev. Nombulelo Ndzuzo thanked the parents for allowing the club to use their children in making a difference to Esitiyeni Primary School. Rev. Ndzuzo said, “Our players arrived at the school early and cleaned this school. I want to thank our players for this job well done and their parents for buying food for these players who spent the entire day at this school.”
