Third international commercial shot in the Bay Nelson Mandela Bay last week formed the backdrop for the third international television commercial to be filmed here. A Cape Town-based production house filmed the commercial for a client in the United Kingdom. Ongama Mtimka, municipal spokesperson, said this is yet another milestone underscoring the success of the Municipality in promoting the city as a prime destination for film productions. Farm Film Productions shot the commercial at the Pearson Conservatory in St George’s Park. This is the third international production to be filmed in the city since December last year. The first commercial was a documentary by an Irish company and another was a Citroen commercial shot last year, also by a
Cape Town-based company. Three national productions were shot in the Bay this year, including one for SABC’s Live music shows by Urban Brew, a Nedbank commercial by The Bomb Productions and a documentary by Safari Vet School. Economic Development, Tourism and Agriculture Portfolio Chairperson, Cllr Chippa Ngcolomba, said he was pleased that the promotion initiatives of the city were showing results. “We are thrilled that we are getting returns on our investments in promoting the city as a destination for film productions. The city has great potential to benefit from the multi-billion-dollar global film industry. It presents us with great opportunities, not only to host productions but also to discover, nurture and export our talent.”
