Callies too strong for Showvillage CALLIES showed no remorse when they thwarted Showvillage United 3-1 in their Safa Nelson Mandela Bay SAB Regional League clash at the Motherwell NU 9 Stadium on Saturday. Londt Park side skipper Shenniel Benn was a major catalyst in his side, troubling the Showvillage defenders. For Callies’ first goal, Benn unleashed a thunderous shot past Showvillage goalkeeper Noyuyu Tshambo. Callies’ second goal was also scored by Benn, who was the man of the match. Quwan Tupac Haywood came up with Callies’ third goal. Showvillage’s second-half substitutions, Sivuyile Witbooi and Monwabisi Bless, nearly paid dividends. Witbooi was brought down in the box and referee Siyabulela Ngxabazi awarded a penalty to Showvillage. Bless scored from the spot, but it was too late to equalise. Fairview Rovers shattered Lion City’s dreams of winning the prestige trophy when they beat them 1-0. Another surprise came for log leaders Young Ideas when they lost 2-0 Hotspurs at the Moredyke fields. In an attempt to avoid relegation, Ikamva Movers managed to overcome Ghetto Stars 1-0 at Walmer High School. Royal Bucs, who are not at all worried about relegation, disappointed relegation candidates Camper United in their 1-1 draw. Camper were leading all the way, but
