by Emma Sophia Chenski Age 8 December 2012 Chapter One Witch and Wizard One night a little girl, only the age of ten, lay still in her bed. She was wondering what her life would be like next year. She did not know how much her life would change when she turned eleven years old. She was a little witch and did not even know it! She could always do special things, like making glass break without it shattering. She thought it was magic, but then she thought to herself magic is not real, is it? The little girl’s name was Lily. When Lily turned 11 she found out the truth she was a witch!! She met two little kids TJ and Dandelion. Lily was so happy to meet them! They were both 11, like Lily. They all went to the same British magic school. They had to get sorted into a house. They all got put in the same house the Lions! There was a great feast after the sorting. TJ was too full to eat the next day! The first class Lily attended was Charms class, and Lily was so happy. She had never done magic. TJ was so happy too. They were all ready to learn charms. During the first class, they all learned how to make things float. After, they went to have lunch. TJ made Lily float. It was fun to Lily, but Dandelion was perfect at making things float. TJ called Dandelion a neat nick. She was not happy about that. TJ and Dandelion did not talk with each other after that. But Lily told Dandelion to stop before Dandelion could throw her lunch at TJ! At 2:00 pm, they went to the green house. Dandelion was not so good, but Lily…… she was perfect at herbology! TJ did not call Lily a neat nick because he was in LOVE with Lily! Dandelion was in a bad mood because of that. Dandelion loved TJ. It was hard to believe when Dandelion told TJ after all they were mad at each other. But when TJ told Lily, Lily was not upset. But Dandelion was upset. She was so sad that she did not come to diner! TJ did not want to be mean but Lily was really nice. Dandelion did come to charms class, but she made Lily float. It was not fun. Dandelion put Lily upside down. Lily felt like she was going to be sick. Dandelion said that it was on accident but it was not on accident. Now Lily had to go up to the nurse to make her stop throwing up. When Lily got up to the nurse she was a wreck! Her dress was torn, her face was covered with dirt. Then she said, “What happened to you?” Lily told her she got tossed upside down by a first year named Dandelion. The nurse said. “No!

Dandelion is the best at making things float. She could not have made you float because you’re her best friend, right?” “No, she put me upside down and said it was an accident.” “Well if you ask me it was not an accident,” said the nurse. “If I were you I would go up to her room and ask what’s wrong; that’s what best friends do they say what’s wrong when their friends do something wrong.” The next day Lily felt a lot better and Dandelion said sorry that she put Lily upside down. Dandelion also said that she could not control her anger, and Lily said it was ok. But TJ, he was madder than ever. He even screamed at Dandelion. She ran crying out of the room, and Lily went after her. You can imagine what Lily said to TJ. She said a lot of hurtful things to TJ. Lily was now angry at TJ. TJ was now even angrier at everybody he met. When the teacher came up to him, TJ lost five points from the Lions and almost lost ten if he yelled at the teacher one more time. TJ was soon going to go to History of Magic, and he had to calm down soon. If they lost more points, they would lose the house cup. The Sea Serpents had won the cup for the last ten years, and the Lions wanted to win the cup this year. So they had to get points, not lose them. Lily said to TJ it was hard because Sea Serpent was the mean house, and TJ was the only lion in History of Magic class. It was a long hour for TJ, but it was ok because their teacher was nice and TJ got B+. That was a long test. Finally TJ could sit down by the fire with his friends. Lily had said sorry and Dandelion had said sorry for not talking much. TJ was happy. It was a long time since he got a B+, and that was a little sad, but worth it because he was with his friends and Lily and Dandelion had signed up for History of Magic. Lily was getting better at Charms. And Lily was almost as good as Dandelion. Dandelion did not say that you have to do this or you have to do that to Lily, because they were best friends. That night Dandelion heard a crash and woke up and screamed. It was a thief robbing Dandelion and Lily. Lily got out of bed and said …… “Professor Numbledor!” It was that moment that there was silence. But then Lily heard footsteps outside the door and then the robber flew to the window and was gone. Lily saw that the window was broken and waved her wand and said “revivo” and it was good as new. Lily told TJ everything that happened, and Dandelion she screaming. TJ laughed, but Dandelion said it’s not funny. Next was Potions and it was not that hard for Lily and Dandelion, but it was really hard for TJ. Lily got an A++ on her work, Dandelion a B+ and TJ a D. “Poor TJ,” said Dandelion. “He was working really hard but I saw he forgot half a cup of water and his potion turned blue.” Their next class was History of Magic, and TJ got B+, Lily a B++ and Dandelion a A++. “I want to

be good at something,” said TJ. “You girls are good at everything, but me I am good at nothing.” Lily said, “That’s not true. Did you know that Dandelion got a F in Herbology? I got a A++ and ten points for the Lions.” “I think Dandelion is best at History of Magic,” said TJ. “I mean she always gets points and A++s at that subject.” “TJ, I think that you only get bad marks in Potions because Professor Ken always says you are two minutes late,” said Lily. “It is not far from our exams,” said Dandelion who just came in their room. “How long have you been eavesdropping,” said TJ? “Oh, long enough,” said Dandelion. “Dandelion, how do you get so good at classes,” said TJ? “I just sit and work in my bed and then go over the work to see if it is right; if not I have to do all of my homework; if I am right I get to eat my cupcakes from lunch,” said Dandelion. “TJ you should have an idea of how you are going to catch up on homework,” said Dandelion. “Lily, how do you do your homework,” said TJ? “I do it in class even if I am caught.” “Lily, you do it in class, but how do you pay attention to Professor Ken?” “I don’t listen to him; I know everything he says. Don’t you know that potion A means potion B?” said Lily. TJ had one answer – no! The next day TJ had a new plan for how he was going to do his homework. He would do it in class like Lily. But that day in Potions TJ was caught and got five points taken away. Then Lily got caught and had a trick that she said, “I was doing extra homework because I liked that TJ was too. But then he was caught and I was going to put it away but then you caught me. I wanted to show my work but then but when TJ was caught I didn’t think it was a good idea.” Professor Ken said that Lily and TJ both get ten points for the Lions, and, “you both can show us what you have been working on by tomorrow, can’t you?”

Lily said that she and TJ would give Professor Ken ten pages of what they had been working by next week. Professor Ken would give them fifty points for the Lions, if not they would lose fifty points and get extra homework. When TJ got back to his room he was going to ask Lily what to do. Lily said that she would go to the library and work on her report and when she was done she would copy it for TJ. TJ said thank you. “You are a lifesaver and you do have a trick to say why are reports are the same don’t you,” said TJ. Lily did have something but she thought they weren’t going to need it. They were ready for the homework assignment but then something happened that night that changed everything and that thing was a person and the thing that the person did was the worst thing that could happen to Lily and TJ. When Lily woke up she found that the report was ripped on the floor and when she told TJ, TJ was screaming like mad. “What are we going to do?” said TJ. “I am going to go down to the library and get as much work down as I can,” said Lily. “TJ, you better come too. I think that you could work on potions too,” said Lily. Lily and TJ went down to the library and saw that it was closed. “Now what are we going to do?” said TJ. “We are going to lose fifty points and get extra homework,” said Lily. “No, we are not,” said Dandelion who came down too. “Can you stop doing that?” said TJ . “Doing what?” said Dandelion. “Going to breakfast and ending up here in five minutes,” said TJ. “So what are we going to do,” said Lily. “That is easy,” said Dandelion. “Since Lily did all of your work now you have to do all of her work.” “What the,” said TJ. “I don’t know anything about potions, Dandelion.” “How about I do my work and TJ does his?” said Lily. “Ok,” sighed TJ, “but I bet you anything that we’re going to lose points, not gain,” and the next day

Lily was done with her work but TJ was on the 2nd page. TJ had to get eight more pages done in a day. TJ was begging and begging for help to Lily and Dandelion. But Dandelion said no and Lily said ok but Dandelion said no to Lily too. TJ went straight to the library to work on the essay and made it to the 8th page but then he had to go to Potions. When TJ went to go to Potions he found Lily with 20 pages of work. To TJ’s great surprise one copy was for him and he gave Lily a great hug. When they went down to Potions, as soon as Lily and TJ came in Professor Ken asked for homework. Lily and TJ gave their work to Professor Ken. Professor Ken then said, “50 points for TJ and 50 points for Lily.” Dandelion was shocked but Lily and TJ were delighted at the end of the lesson Dandelion asked Professor Ken if she could do a project about potions and get points too but Professor Ken said no. Dandelion hated all the attention that Lily and TJ were getting. She wanted some attention too. “It’s just not fair,” said Dandelion to herself, “Why do Lily and TJ get all that attention just for some homework?” That night Dandelion dreamed that TJ and Lily were getting fifty points a day. Dandelion suddenly woke up because Lily was shaking her saying, “I’m not as smarter than you!” “Yes you are!” screamed Dandelion back. There was a silence. Then Lily ran out of the room. Dandelion felt bad and wanted to make Lily happy and she tried to talk to her but it did not work. Lily looked at Dandelion than ran up to her bedroom. When Dandelion got up to Lily’s room she looked at Lily and saw that Lily ripped her A ++ potions and said to Dandelion, “You’re smart the way you are. I was just trying to get me and TJ out of trouble.” They both looked at each other and they both said, “Let’s just forget what happened.” But Lily did not forget what happened. She kept it a secret to herself. Dandelion and Lily were so unhappy they didn’t want to study and that made Lily crazy because she had a essay on history of magic and she had to do it in two hours. She did everything right on time. It was a relief now that Lily, Dandelion and TJ had a favorite spot right under an apple tree where they could relax in the sun and pick apples. It was fun to them and it was quiet too. Lily made a picture frame so they could hang up a picture of them three. That morning Lily, TJ and Dandelion went down to breakfast. TJ wanted to say what’s going on

but he didn’t. Lily wanted to tell TJ but then Dandelion jinxed her not to say anything. Lily got the charm off in her room. Lily heard something coming from the stairs out of the room Lily opened the door to find Dandelion and TJ. TJ, who couldn’t help it, said, “WHAT’S GOING ON!” Lily looked from TJ to Dandelion. “Can me and TJ have a moment?” Lily asked. Dandelion said, “You’re going to tell him. I just know it.” Lily and TJ went into Lily’s room. Dandelion had a dream and she was saying “Lily and TJ, why won’t you give me credit?” TJ said, “I’m going to tell Dandelion a piece of my mind.” “NO!” said Lily. “I will and I am,” said TJ. TJ busted right out of the door. “Dandelion, me and you have to talk to each other in my room NOW!” Dandelion, with tears in her eyes went down to TJ’s room. Lily followed them, TJ not knowing. Lily secretly hid in TJ’s room. About a half an hour later Dandelion ran out of the room sobbing. Them TJ locked the door shut. Lily said, “Oh no, I hope this isn’t not going to hurt.” Then when TJ wasn’t looking she tapped her wand in the air and said, “Open locks.” It opened. Then she cast a hearing spell on TJ and ran out of the room; then lifted the charm on TJ and locked the doors. At dinner both friends looked at Lily. TJ smiling Dandelion about to throw her food at Lily. It was a sad night for Lily. She said to herself, “Who do you like more Dandelion or TJ?” Lily called TJ and Dandelion into her room. “TJ,” Lily said to TJ, “Over all you are my Best Friend out of Dandelion. Dandelion I’m sorry but..” Then out of nowhere Dandelion said, “Lily, this friendship is OVER!” Lily looked as if she was about to cry but she held it in. TJ then screamed at Dandelion, “This friendship is over TOO!” Lily then said, “Guys to you hear that?” There was an ominous noise coming from downstairs. “Wwwwhat do you think that is?” said Dandelion. TJ said, “Iiii don’t know.”

Lily said, “I’m going to find out,” in a confident way. Lily opened the door and saw a portal that sucked Dandelion, TJ and herself into it. “Where are we going?” said TJ. Then they all were at the market that was about to close. “The market is closing in five minutes,” said the operator of the store. We have to find our way out of here said Dandelion. TJ said, “Are you scared Dandelion?” TJ only said this because she hurt Lily’s feelings. Lily said knock it off TJ and TJ said all right. Lily said, “Let’s split up.” They all said ok but Dandelion said to herself, “Oh great, how are we going to make a portal anyway?” Lily remembered how to make one. She saw it in a book. She practiced it on the way there. “Lecorm perorm portal appear. Send us where we belong and let us not lose an ear.” Dandelion heard Lily and said let us not lose an ear in a teasing way but to her surprise it was a real portal. Dandelion got sucked in she said, “Come on Lily!” “I’m not leaving TJ behind,” said Lily. Lily ran up through all the aisles and to her shock she found TJ running to catch a train. Lily said, “TJ wait! We found our way home.” TJ turned around and slipped. Lily ran to pick him up. Then she said, “Heal.” TJ’s cut vanished. “Thanks,” he said. Together they ran but to their shock the doors were locked.
