We extend a hardy welcome to our Annual 34th Bull Sale. Our Sale this year will be held at the Ranch (8 miles south and 4 miles west of Swift Current, Sask. ) We have a large Sale Barn, all the Bulls will be displayed right in the facility on a dirt floor and bright overhead lights. Come early to inspect the bulls and enjoy a complimentary smoked brisket meal prepared by Smoke Shack. Then settle in for a video Bull Sale. We have personal from Livestock Media Plus for those of you who wish to bid via Internet. Our bull selection is backed by a cowherd that has been consistently built on moderate sized, hardy, fertile solid structured females. Our cows range out all winter right up to and including calving. They must walk a mile every day regardless of the weather to get to and from their winter ration of cut feed, silage and hay, maintaining sound muscle tone to start calving the last week in March and into April. Our first calf heifers and a selection of second calf cows calve out in February at the headquarters so they can be watched during colder weather. And this year February proved to be a cold frigid one. It seemed to hang on like a bad marriage. However I was reassured by my wife, Wanda, that I didn’t know what that was like. But I do know she was a frigid month. We are proud to offer 48 Black Angus yearling bulls in addition to four Red Angus yearling bulls. We are excited to include Greg Gillis of GJG Angus with his 3 yearling Black Angus bulls. We are pleased with and excited about the development of our Bulls this year. Every year they seem to get more consistent and this year certainly proved that. We have prided ourselves on developing bulls for using on heifers with reliability and with enough performance in them to be retained for the cow herd in later years. We have continually used low birth weight, short gestation bulls on our replacement heifers and have developed a solid program for producing heifer bulls, while still maintaining great performance with strong feet and leg structure.
