Sustainable Earth: Playgrounds for this Planet We believe the environment our children play in is as important as the playground, which is why we have championed environmental responsibility for nearly two decades. A proud pioneer in the use of recycled materials, since 1990 we’ve designed our playground equipment, recreation site amenities and safety surfacing with safety and sustainability in mind.
Our bright and colorful play structures have the highest amount of post-consumer recycled content available in the commercial playground market. Our use of post consumer HDPE (high-density polyethylene) recycled plastic lumber in our structures, decks and recreation site furnishings effectively utilizes millions of recycled milk containers each year that would otherwise end up in a landfill. Our poured-in-place safety surfacing and other rubber surfacing options are made from 100% post-consumer content that we source from landfills.
Our products count toward LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification because of the high level of recycled content in our playgrounds. In 2005, our company was recognized as the first playground manufacturer to meet the environmental standards set forth by California’s Collaborative for High Performance (CHPS), a non-profit that promotes energy efficient quality school facilities and has set a new standard for sustainability in California and nationwide.
Progressive Design Playgrounds are safe for children and the environment. Our manufactured products do not, and have never, contained PVC or phthalates.
A commitment to sustainability is present in every area of our business from the packaging to the playground. We make extensive use of recycled, renewable and non-toxic materials, conserve energy whenever possible, increase efficiencies and recycle nearly all of our manufacturing waste. Outdoor Learning Environments are natural playgrounds that allow children to explore their surroundings with sight, hearing, touch and smell. We work closely with childhood development experts to create custom Outdoor Learning Environments that provide the necessary levels of stimulation and social interaction for children with difficulty processing and integrating the sensory experiences of sight, hearing, touch, sound and smell. We also work closely with our customers to develop and build unique and creative play spaces that offer physical and therapeutic benefits to provide every children with a personalized play experience regardless of their abilities.
Natural Play: Engaging Body and Mind Nature is the perfect playground and optimal learning environment for children because it is filled with patterns, textures, loose parts, physical and imaginative play opportunities and continuous change. Safety, Standards and Affiliations Progressive Design Playgrounds produces the highest quality commercial playgrounds on the market. Our commercial children’s play structures and recreation site furnishings are manufactured primarily out of recycled plastic that is safe, durable and virtually maintenance free. The company takes a proactive approach to safety compliance by continuously upgrading our products and creating new playground structures that meet or exceed United States and international safety requirements including guidelines set forth by the International Playground Equipment Manufacturers Association (IPEMA), the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) and ASTM International. Progressive Design Playgrounds’ play structures are designed in accordance with the latest American with Disabilities Act (ADA) standards.
The Consumer Product Safety Commission The Consumer Product Safety Commission is an independent agency of the United States federal government whose purpose is to provide the public with current product safety information and recommended safety practices. Earth Award By reducing waste and pollution, increasing community education and involvement, and by simply seeing a problem and findinvg a solution, Progressive Design Playgrounds was awarded the San Diego Earth Award in 1997 and 2005 for being an environmentally responsible company. San Diego EarthWorks, a non-profit organization committed to education and action on environmental issues, presented the award. GSA (General Services Administration) – GSA allows federal government entities to purchase Progressive Design Playgrounds products at most favorable pricing while satisfying agency purchasing requirements. CMAS (California Multiple Award Schedule) - CMAS allows state and local government entities to purchase Progressive Design Playgrounds products at most favorable pricing. The use of this contract is optional and available to any and all state and local government agencies. No bids are required to purchase.
Outdoor Learning Environments Progressive Design Playgrounds introduced the concept of Outdoor Learning Environments in response to feedback from childhood development experts about the need for educationalbased play and as a way to bridge traditional playgrounds and the environment, creating a pioneering and fun way for children to fully reap the benefit of play. Outdoor Learning Environments extend the classroom into the outdoors where children can play with and among natural elements such as sand, water and living plants. These natural playgrounds give children the opportunity to learn through cause and effect the impact they have on their immediate surroundings and the environment as a whole. Through natural learning, the outdoor classroom enhances and reinforces the lessons students learn in every subject from math to the arts. Numerous studies find that the natural world is essential to a child’s physical and emotional health. The correlation between outdoor play and social, cognitive and behavior development is well documented with evidence supporting benefits such as improved recall of information, creative problem solving and increased creativity among children. Finally, there is strong evidence to support that natural playgrounds have academic benefits because outdoor play fosters a sense of wonder that serves as a motivator for life long learning. Outdoor Learning Environments come in many different configurations depending upon the school, the community, the climate and resources available. They range from vegetable gardens, to slides built into grass hills, to stages where pretend play capitalizes on natural surroundings to stimulate young minds. More elaborate natural playgrounds include science labs, greenhouses, ponds, dirt trails, trike trails and mazes and reading amphitheaters. They often include local plants and boulders, contributing to the authenticity of the natural environment. These outdoor classrooms function as play areas on their own or as additions to traditional physically challenging stand alone play structures such as overhead ladders, ring mazes, and climbing walls. And while Outdoor Learning Environments are custom built, they all require one essential ingredient to be successful: imagination. Imagination is a gift inherent in the minds of young children and one that will be challenged and even questioned as they grow in this age of modern technology. Outdoor Learn Environments fosters and nurtures this precious gift by supplementing traditional learning with natural learning, creating a curriculum that goes far beyond what young children learn from a textbook.

Play Structures 0-2 Age Group Our Pint-Size Play structures are especially designed to meet the developmental needs of infants and pre-toddlers. Lower deck heights, smaller slides, slimmer recycled plastic profiles make for a more welcoming opportunity for young minds to explore and learn. Our use of brightly colored components, together with our uniquely designed roof tops, contributes to imaginative play and lets infants and pre-toddlers know that this is their own special place. We believe that a careful blend of active elements, such as age appropriate slides, tunnels, and manipulative elements, along with more passive activities such as panels, is ultimately the key to the successful physical, social and intellectual development of our children! Our play structures are manufactured out of solid profiles of 100% premium HDPE recycled plastic lumber (RPL) and offer numerous advantages over conventional powder coated metal structures. Recycled plastic is maintenance free with no possibility of corrosion and does not require painting or touch ups as color is molded all of the way through. It does not get as hot in the sun and is softer and safer for children. Our play equipment is built extra tough to withstand years of heavy use. To ensure durability and longevity, all recycled plastic components are made out of solid plastic profiles such as 6x6 solid plastic posts, 2x6 or 4x6 solid plastic deck planks, plastic guardrails. With these state-of-the-art features, our recycled plastic components come standard with an outstanding limited lifetime warranty.

Pint-Size Play Progressive Design Playgrounds line of recycled plastic play structures for the early childhood market are called Pint-Size Play. These structures are a perfect fit for the small day care center on a limited budget. These stimulating structures provide excellent developmental stimulation for children at an affordable price.

This 2’x2’ box of fun gives children the opportunity to develop cognitive and social skills as well as hand eye coordination. The Shape Box has a gently sloped face which aids children in their use of this stimulating and engaging play feature. Specifications General Recycled plastic used in the fabrication of playground equipment shall be made out of HDPE derived from purified recycled milk containers. All recycled plastic profiles shall be solid and dense. No hollow profiles of recycled plastic or laminated profiled (such as metal posts covered with recycled plastic exterior or recycled plastic slats supported by an aluminum structural core) shall be used. All recycled plastic edges shall be rounded. Post Package Main support posts shall be made out of 6x6 solid recycled plastic. Secondary posts shall be made out of 6x6, 4x6, or 4x4 solid recycled plastic. All recycled plastic edges shall be rounded. Full Platform Flooring at Full Platforms shall be fabricated out of 4x6 or 2x6 solid recycled plastic planks. Proved a ½”space between floorboards where applicable. Add deck components are supported with 8”x3/4” HDPE band boards and 2x6 recycled plastic floor joist. The center joist will have a 2”x2” metal angle bracket covered with ½”x2.5” recycled plastic. All recycled plastic edges shall be rounded. Full Platforms shall measure 46 ½”x 46 ½”. Small Platform Flooring at Small Platforms shall be fabricated out of 4x6 or 2x6 solid recycled plastic planks. Provide a ½” space between floorboards where applicable. Add deck components are supported with 8”x3/4” HDPE band boards and 2x6 recycled plastic floor joist. The center joist will have a 2”x2” metal angle bracket covered with ½”x2.5” recycled plastic. All recycled plastic edges shall be rounded. Small Platforms shall measure 22 ½” x 46 ½”. Clatter Bridge Clatter Bridge shall be fabricated out of 3x4 solid recycled plastic planks. All recycled plastic edges shall be rounded. All recycled plastic edges shall be rounded. Inclined Ladder shall be available for deck heights from 24” to 60”. Recycled Plastic Rung Ladder Recycled Plastic Rung Ladder shall be made out of 4x4 solid recycled plastic posts, rungs shall be made out of 1.050” OD galvanized steel tubing, powder coated. All recycled plastic edges shall be rounded. Inclined Ladder shall be available for deck heights form 24” to 60”. Recycled Plastic Flex Climber Recycled Plastic Flex Climber shall be made out of 3x4 or 4x4 solid recycled plastic slats. All recycled plastic edges shall be rounded. Full Wall Full Wall shall be made out of new HDPE plastic panels ¾” thick, Installed using stainless steel 3/8x2” lags. Full Wall shall measure 40“ wide at 36” high. Small Wall Small Wall shall be made out of new HDPE plastic panels ¾” thick, Installed using stainless steel 3/8x2” lags. Small Wall shall measure 11 1/2“ wide at 36” high. Recycled Plastic Rooftop Recycled Plastic Rooftops shall be fabricated out of solid HDPE plastic panels ¾” thick. All recycled plastic edges shall be rounded. Recycled Plastic Bench: Recycled Plastic Bench shall be fabricated out of solid 2x64 recycled plastic planks with recycled plastic) frames. All recycled plastic edges shall be rounded. Recycled Plastic Trash Receptacle Recycled Plastic Trash Receptacle shall be fabricated out of solid 2x4 recycle plastic planks with powder-coated galvanized steel frames a galvanized steel liner and an HDPE flat top. All recycled plastic edges shall be rounded. Recycled Plastic Picnic Table Recycled Plastic Picnic Table shall be fabricated out of solid 2x6 recycled plastic planks with 2x4 recycled plastic frames. All recycled plastic edges shall be rounded. Rotationally Molded Plastic Components Rotationally molded plastic components such as panels, rooftops, slides, tubes, etc. shall be of high quality/commercial grade and shall be manufactured out of rotationally molded, high density polyethylene. All plastic components shall be treated with a UV Stabilizer for color stability and shall have color molded in.

High Density Polyethylene Components Activity panels shall be made out of ¾’ thick extruded high-density polyethylene panels. High-density polyethylene panels shall have UV stabilized colors molded in for color stability. Metal Components Metal components constitute the following components: Arch Climber, Loop Arch Climber, Loop Ladder, Coil Climber, Chain Climber, Snake Climber, Fire pole, Grab Bars (standard) Grab Bars (u-shape), Guardrails, Handrails, Overhead Ladder (straight), Overhead Ladder (camelback adventure), Overhead Ladder (narrow), Overhead Ladder (zigzag), Pipe Wall, Overhead Ring Maze (straight), Overhead Ring Maze (serpentine), Overhead Ring Maze (zigzag), Parallel Bars, Turn Bar, Chin-up Bar, Curl Station, Monkey Grip, Vertical Rung Ladder, Slide Bracket, Pipe Bolt, Swings, etc. Metal components shall be heavy-duty/ commercial grade, made out of galvanized steel tubing, steel angles & steel plates. Sizes & specifications shall be as follows: 5” OD x 11 gauge “Allied Flo-Coat Galvanized Tubing” shall be used at support posts and 3 ½” OD x 11 gauge “Allied Flo-Coat shall be used at support and posts and 3 ½” OD x 11 gauge “Allied FloCoat Galvanized Tubing” shall be used at support beams with a minimum tensile strength of 55,000 PSI, milled per ASTM A-135, ASTM A-500 and tested per ASTM E-8. All galvanized steel tubing shall be powder coated (4-6 mil.). 4” square x 11 gauge “Allied Flo-Coat Galvanized Tubing” shall be used at support posts for recycled plastic swing structures. Minimum yield shall be 50,000 PSI with a minimum tensile strength of 55,000 PSI, milled per ASTM A-135, ASTM A-500 and tested per ASTM E-8. Support posts shall be laminated with recycled plastic planks on two sides. All Galvanized steel tubing shall be powder coated (4-6 mil.). 2.375” OD x 10 gauge “Allied Flo-Coat Galvanized Tubing” shall be used at main horizontal support beams for Overhead Ladder (straight, zigzag) at main support beams for Overhead Ring Maze (straight, s-shape, winding), at main support beam for Flex Bridge rails, at horizontal beam for Single Post Swings, etc. All galvanized steel tubing shall be powder coated (4-6 mil.). 1.900” OD x 11 gauge “Allied Flo-Coat Galvanized Tubing” shall be used at main horizontal support beams for Overhead Ladder (humpback), at main support beams at Arch Climber/Loop Arch Climber/ Loop Ladder/ Coil Climber/ Humpback Climber/ Snake Climber/ Fire pole/ Parallel Bars, etc. All galvanized steel tubing shall be powder coated (4-6 mil). 1.75” OD x 12 gauge “Allied Flo-Coat Galvanized Tubing” shall be used at grip areas such as top & bottom rails at pipe walls, rungs for Flex Bridge, Overhead Ladder (straight, zigzag, humpback), rungs for Arch Climbers, etc. All galvanized steel tubing shall be powder coated (4-6 mil.). 1.050” OD x 14 2.375” OD x 10 gauge “Allied Flo-Coat Galvanized Tubing” shall be used at hand grip areas of Turn Bar, Chin-up Bar, Inclined Ladder, Recycled Plastic Rung Ladder Ring Maze (straight, s-shape, winding), Loop Ladder, Coil Climber, Grab Bars (standard, u-shape), Snake Climber, Curl Station, Pull-up Station, vertical slats at Pipe Walls, etc. All galvanized steel components shall be powder coated (4-6 mil.).

1.050” OD Schedule 40 Galvanized Steel Pipe shall be used for making pipe bolts. Weld joints at pipe bolts shall e cleaned and treated with cold galvanizing compound. 2 ½” x ¼’ thick steel plates shall attach Arch Climber, Loop Ladder, etc. to the Full Platform. All edges shall be filed smooth in order to eliminate any sharp conditions. Plates shall be zinccoated after they have been cut to size and drilled prior to welding and fabrications. After welding and fabrications, plates shall be lightly sandblasted and then zinc-coated again, prior to powder coating (4-6 mil.). ¼” steel plates shall attach overhead ladder/monkey bars to the recycled plastic support posts. All edges shall be filed smooth in order to eliminate any sharp conditions. Plates shall be zinccoated after they have been cut to size and drilled, prior to welding and fabrication. After welding and fabrications, plates shall be lightly sandblasted and then zinc-coated again, prior to powder coating (4-6 mil). Aluminum parts such as steering wheels, pipe collars, etc. shall be made out of cast aluminum and shall be for commercial grade. Steering wheels shall be free to turn 360 degrees in either direction. Where applicable, aluminum parts shall have a powder coated finish (4-6 mil.). Welding Joints at metal components shall be welded. Welding shall be achieved using a stainless steel wire only. Stainless steel welding has an exceptional resistance to corrosion. Conventional welding using a regular wire is not acceptable due to tendencies of the weld joint to rust over time. Weld joints shall be cleaned, free of weld splatter, lightly sandblasted, zinc-coated and then powder coated (except for galvanized pipe bolts which shall be treated with ZRC Cold Galvanizing Compound or Zero Rust). Powder Coating Metal parts shall be powder coated after fabrication. Prior to powder coating, file all edges smooth, clean weld splatter and lightly sandblast parts to remove impurities. Powder coating shall be applied over a clean, dry substrate, free of any contamination and oxidation. Provide two layers of powder coating to achieve superior corrosion protection (4-6 mil.). 1. Apply a layer of zinc rich primer as a powder coating base layer. 2. Topcoat base layer with a layer of polyester powder coating. The owner shall select powder coating color(s). 3. Time lapse between the application of zinc rich primer and polyester top coating must not exceed 12 hours (maximum). Hardware and Miscellaneous Parts All hardware shall be treated to resist corrosion. Primary connections shall be made using stainless steel, vandal resistant “Torx-Plus Pin Head Socket Bolts” requiring a unique tool for attachment or disassembly. Galvanized hex bolts (where used) shall be counter sunk into recycled plastic. Primary bolts shall have a minimum diameter of 3/8” to ½”. Bolts/ nuts shall have a locking device or locking agent added to keep them from becoming loose. Hardware shall be installed in such way so that it does not create projections or protrusions beyond the limits set by CPSC and ASTM.

Terms and Conditions Terms of Sale To government agencies and tax supported institutions, and those with approved credit, payment is due within 30 days from the date of invoice. A 1.5% finance charge, compounded per month, will be imposed on all accounts due over 30 days. We also accept payment by VISA, Mastercard and American Express. All others require a 50% deposit at the time of order entry with the balance due prior to shipment or can be paid with a certified check upon receipt of the shipment (C.O.D.). Prices Prices are in U.S. funds. Catalog prices and prices on any list are subject to change without notice. Prices are F.O.B. our factory in Vista, CA. and do not include freight charges. Quoted prices are guaranteed for 30 days. Minimum Order U.S. $1000.00. $100.00 for GSA. Order Cancellation Once accepted, orders can be canceled only with the consent of Progressive Design Playgrounds and on terms which will indemnify Progressive Design Playgrounds against loss. Canceled orders are subject to a 20% restocking fee. Equipment “built-to-order” is non-cancelable. Freight Charges are determined and collected by the carrier at the Buyer’s Ship-To Address unless Progressive Design Playgrounds is requested and agrees to prepay and add this cost to the invoice. Unless specifically given routing instructions on the purchase order, shipment will be made via the carrier Progressive Design Playgrounds considers to be

most economical and practical in reaching the final destination. All domestic shipments are governed by ICC regulations. Progressive Design Playgrounds is not responsible for delays in transit and such delays shall not alter the invoicing terms. If the order does not arrive in a reasonable amount of time after being advised the shipment has left the factory, Progressive Design Playgrounds will assist in the tracing process. Loss or Damage in Transit Progressive Design Playgrounds is not responsible for loss or damage in transit. Our responsibility ends when the carrier signs the bill of lading, which is our receipt that the shipment was made complete and in good condition. It is the customer’s responsibility to check the received shipment. Photos must be taken of any damage and any shortages or damages must be noted on the freight bill before it is signed. It is the customer’s responsibility to file any freight claim. Contact Progressive Design Playgrounds, forwarding a copy of the freight claim, to arrange the order of replacement parts. Taxes If applicable, taxes will be added to the invoice except when a tax exempt certificate is provided with the purchase order at the time of order entry. Bonds Bid, Performance and Payment bonds are not included. Weights All published weights are estimated and include appropriate packing materials. Actual weights will vary.

Warranty General Guarantee Buyer agrees that products sold by Progressive Design Playgrounds carry only the following limited warranties: Limited lifetime warranty Recycled plastic parts and SS hardware against rot, insect infestation and structural failure due to corrosion, deterioration or workmanship. Recycled plastic parts and accessories include all upright posts, platforms, guardrails, rooftops, etc. Limited 10 year warranty Powder coated metal components such as climbers, overhead components (monkey bars, ring maze, etc.), rotationally molded plastic components (slides, roof tops, panels, etc) and all HDPE panels, and safety surface tiles against failure due to defective materials and workmanship. Limited 5 year warranty Shade canopies, rubber mulch, poured-in-place rubber safety surfacing and rubber tiles against failure due to defective materials and workmanship. Limited 3 year warranty X-wave, x-quake and other Playmotion products against failure due to defective materials and workmanship. Limited 1 year warranty Galvanized steel products such as basketball, tetherball, BBQs, bike racks, baseball backstops, etc., Vinyl coated steel benches and tables, Terra Pads, swing components and fiberglass rock climbing walls against failure due to defective materials and workmanship. Limitations Payment must have been received in full by Progressive Design Playgrounds before any warranty claim can be processed. Warranties do not include damage resulting from vandalism, misuse, accidents, normal wear-and-tear, negligence, or “Acts of God” and cosmetic issues such as but not limited to scratches, dents, marring, moderate warping, fading or discoloration, damage due to incorrect installation by installers not certified by Progressive Design Playgrounds, exposure to extreme weather, unauthorized repair, lack of maintenance, or other causes not within the control of Progressive Design Playgrounds. Warranty excludes structures not installed according to the layout plan and installation instructions, or not using components and specifications provided by Progressive Design Playgrounds or that have been modified, altered or repaired by anyone other than Progressive Design Playgrounds or by installers not certified by Progressive Design Playgrounds. Use of replacement parts other than those provided by Progressive Design Playgrounds will void all warranties. Play structures that are moved must to be upgraded to meet current CPSC and ASTM-1487 standards (as mandated by CPSC and ASTM) in order to continue to be under warranty. Moves must be done in consultation with Progressive Design Playgrounds to ensure warranty coverage.

Claims To make a claim under the terms of the Warranty, the Buyer’s written statement of claim, along with a copy of the original invoice, maintenance records, and supporting photographs, must be sent to Progressive Design Playgrounds, 2665 Vista Pacific Drive, Oceanside, CA 92056 USA within seven (7) calendar days of discovering the defect. Progressive Design Playgrounds shall determine if the claimed failure is covered by the provisions of this limited warranty. Remedy will be to repair or replace at the sole option of Progressive Design Playgrounds. Shipping costs for warranty items are excluded. Progressive Design Playgrounds will not be responsible for providing labor or the cost of labor for the removal of the defective part or parts or the installation of any replacement part or parts.parts shall be guaranteed for the balance of the original warranty period. Progressive Design Playgrounds will not accept the return of any product without establishing prior written approval. THIS WARRANTY IS EXCLUSIVE AND IS IN LIEU OF ALL OTHER WARRANTIES, WHETHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO ANY WARRANTY OF MERCHANTABILITY OR FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE. FUTHER, NO REPRESENTATIVE MAY BE SUBSTITUTED FOR THE AFOREDESCRIBED EXCLUSIVE LIMITED WARRANTY. TO THE EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, PROGRESSIVE DESIGN PLAYGROUNDS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY DIRECT, INDIRECT, SPECIAL, INCIDENTAL, OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES, WHICH ARE NOT INCLUDED IN THIS SALE OR EXPRESSLY EXCLUDED FROM THIS SALE.
