Preface Dear members, You’ve all got to know PCM Focus as an ambitious community these days. We tend to live up to our own high expectations each and every time, cause we know our members only want the best there is to offer. One of the community updates we develop is the community database, better known as the FDB. Our most precious child is on the verge of being released, but of course it won’t be released after we’ve got some attention from you for our database. In this small magazine you’ll get some information about the stats in this database.

INTRODUCTION
PCM Focus Database The PCM Focus Database is a database made possible by the only dutch PCM community named PCM Focus and it guarantees an ideal mix of quality and quantity. The first PCM Focus Database was made possible by Stijn van de Walle, one of the founders and owners of PCM Focus. Within the PCM landscape, Stijn is better known for his alias, Camerluca. Some of his past projects include the Savoluca DB and the StanosLibre DB. Those are some well earned credits and every dutch PCM player will have some great memories from these databases. After the release of the first FDB, Stijn went to search for a possible co-leader for the database team. He found one in Wielrennen11 and together they worked through a couple of strong databases, which were marked by some signs of perfection. These days, they have built a great database team of members who still deliver a great contribution to PCM Focus updates. On the last page of this magazine, you can find the names of the staff for this PCM Focus Database.

STATSMATRIX MATTHIJS
Brief explanation Matthijs is a pure cycling freak. Matthijs is known to not only have followed the big races through the years. His knowledge comes from watching and researching the small races, through every detail. His knowledge has given the PCM Focus community a big hand out to deliver as much realism as possible in this community database. Ever since 2009 Matthijs has begun experimenting with various cycling stats in Pro Cycling Manager. The foundation of his statsmatrix is the use of minimum and maximum stats. Through the years, he has built a stats system applicable for the PCM Focus Database. The stats have been implemented and further perfected during the FDB era. Matthijs’ big goal is creating the ideal world of cycling as we know it today. It’s no secret and neither is it a miracle that within the FDB, the top world riders have a big pool of riders who can reach them, but can’t beat them every day! With the stats matrix made by Matthijs we can guarantee you that you’ll have great pleasure playing the PCM Focus database!
Types of rider In this magazine we list 6 categories of riders. We listed the stats that define every particular type of rider. The relation of these stats is something that doesn’t directly relate to the stats matrix. Category 1: Grand Tour Riders Important stats: FL/CL/HI/TT/END/RES/REC Category 2: Climbers Important stats: FL/CL/HI/END/RES/ACC Category 3: Time trialists Important stats: FL/TT/END/RES (+ CL/HI) Category 4: Sprinters Important stats: FL/HI/END/RES/SP/ACC Category 5: Hill specialists Important stats: FL/CL/HI/END/RES/SP Category 6: Cobblestone specialists Important stats: FL/HI/END/RES/SP Thanks to an update from Se7en the stats of the young riders within the FDB 14 have been made to have the development that relates to Matthijs’ stats matrix.

Difference between riders? Just like in our well known bunch of riders there are different types of riders making the big accolades in the Grand Tours. There are riders who are just pure climbers (CL + ACC), there are riders who have got a big weapon in their time trial (TT) and there are cyclists that need to rely on their constancy (REC).

Difference between riders? As illustrated in the example above we tend to make a difference between puncheurs and riders who like one strong pace the whole time. Someone with high ACC stats is better served when he splits up the bunch time after time, while the true pace riders had better work on their own pace.

Difference between riders? For time trialists, the stage profile is the essential factor that decides if a cyclist can go for a success or won’t be in the top classification. In a complete flat time trial you won’t have to watch the CL and HI stats, while the hilly time trials will be decided on those stats!

Difference between riders? Matthijs has kept an eye on the difference between the real big power sprinters and explosive sprinters. You will have to tune your sprint train depending on how your sprinter is categorised! You’ll have to watch the HI stats of sprinters, if there are some hills to be climbed in the final kilometers of the stage…

Difference between riders Some hill classics are known to be more of a climbing classic than other classics. Thats why we have made a great relationship between the CL and HI stats, which allowed us to make the ideal mix for different races just to get the most realistic results.

Difference between riders? There is a big difference between flat cobblestones, hills with cobblestones and just regular hills which we find in the northern classics. Within the FDB we’ve looked for the perfect balance between these sectors to give the different specialists their correct stats for every race element.
