WHO IS JESUS?

BY PASTOR MATT PERKINS

FOR I AM ABOUT TO DO SOMETHING NEW. SEE, I HAVE ALREADY BEGUN! DO YOU NOT SEE IT? I WILL MAKE A PATHWAY THROUGH THE WILDERNESS. I WILL CREATE RIVERS IN THE DRY WASTELAND.

ISAIAH 43:19 (NLT)

Let’s face it: change is difficult. Even in the best circumstances, change can leave us feeling like everything is shifting and unfamiliar. We can even pray for a particular change to happen in our life, and then when it presents itself, we instinctively try to hold on tight to what is routine and comfortable, even if it may not be the best for us.

When we face transitions and change in life, here are a few things to keep in mind:

Preparation

God is about to do something new. It is up to us to prepare for what God has arranged for us. Hint: He plans to prosper you and not harm you (Jeremiah 29:11).

Perception

We must be aware and attentive as God brings “the new” into our lives. If you aren’t looking for it, you could easily miss what God desires to do because it’s so natural for us to focus on the status quo.

Provision

Whenever God brings new vision and direction, He will also provide a way. This Scripture clearly states that God will make a way where there doesn’t seem to be one.

Patience

We need to trust the process. Trusting the process can be difficult, but as we walk by faith, knowing that we’re on the path of God’s choosing, we will get closer to our destination day by day.

As I reflect on this passage of Scripture, I am reminded of the first verse of “’Tis So Sweet to Trust in Jesus.”

‘Tis so sweet to trust in Jesus

Just to take Him at His Word

Just to rest upon His promise

Just to know, thus saith the Lord

Getting through uncertain moments with peace, wisdom, and appreciation for all that lies ahead is necessary and only possible through His grace.

Moving Forward

Ask God where your trust level is. What areas of your life can you more intentionally place in His care? Sing the words of this beloved hymn, and ask for grace to trust Him more.
