Grants & Contracts: includes foundation grants and government grants and contracts. Service Fees: includes environmental education service fees and fees paid by AmeriCorps sponsors as match to the federal funds that support PCEI’s AmeriCorps members and placement programs. Other Income: includes income from such things as plant sales, special events, interest income, endowment income, consulting fees, and service and eqipment fees.

2010 was a challenging, yet interesting, year financially for the Palouse-Clearwater Environmental Institute (PCEI). Our major effort on AmeriCorps placement came to a temporary end, while we landed a major contract to complete Paradise Creek restoration work at the University of Idaho campus. It was difficult to say goodbye to four of our dear, full-time staff members due to the loss of the AmeriCorps funding; yet it was exciting to welcome 24 seasonal employees who planted nearly 19,000 trees and shrubs along the newly exposed Paradise Creek as it meanders through the University of Idaho. The year also marked a series of program releases; in 2010, we were able to declare success on the following projects that PCEI was instrumental in helping to start, and which became independent from our work: Backyard Harvest, the McCall Outdoor Science School (MOSS), and the Moscow Community Garden. We are proud of the work of all three programs that have grown over the years and continue to make a great impact in our region. These three programs add to the many ideas that PCEI has helped to nurture and spawn over our 25 year history. The year closed as we began to celebrate 25 years of “connecting people place and community” in the Palouse-Clearwater region! Thank you, members, donors and volunteers for your invaluable contributions to the community, the environment, and your local environmental organization. PCEI will continue working toward your commitment to sustainable living.
