Country Better Than City

Country Life is better than City Life

City life and country life are very different to each other. The bustling city is alive with people and activities, whereas the country is relaxed and quiet; but which is better? I strongly think that life in the country beats the city by far because of the better environment and friendlier community. The tranquil setting of the country is definitely superior compared to urban life, and is really appealing to everyone. Firstly, the environment in the countryside is much more relaxed and peaceful compared to the city. The UK newspaper, The Cornish Guardian, quotes: "It's official: country living beats the hustle and bustle of city life. People living in the South West countryside are...show more content... Scientists have researched that parts of the brain that deal with stress and emotion don't handle crowds well. A quote from Natural News says "A sound diet, exercise, plenty of sleep – and escaping the concrete jungle of city life. All of these things contribute to a longer, healthier and less stressful life, according to new research." The answer is simple – if you don't want to be so stressed all the time, move to the country where there are no crowds. This also explains why people who are born and raised in the city have much more anxiety and stress in their lives. In comparison, being exposed to nature and away from hectic life in the city really helps. Country life is like a community. Because there are fewer people in country towns, everyone cares and watches out for each other, which helps reduce stress. Furthermore, country folk are generally not as busy, and seem to be much more relaxed. They don't need to buy much, live simply and houses are much cheaper, so they will have less to worry about. In the city, however, houses are expensive so everyone works harder to pay off their loans. As a result, if you want to cut down on your anxiety, pressure and stress, you will have a much better life if you leave the city and stay in the country.

Country People vs. City People

The constant buzz of the city or the tranquility of the country? There has always been the debate over country life and city life. The question is, which is better? I am trying to create a new perspective. Country people have advantages over city people and city people have advantages over country people. It boils down to three things, environment, opportunities, and values. The most prevalent difference between country life and city life is the environment. This can be anything seen with the naked eye or it is an aspect that needs to be exposed over time. First, what we can see with our eyes. Sometimes the easiest things seen are the best parts. Some may say that in the country there are not many places to explore. This is not true; the country has endless opportunities to explore. Nature never becomes boring. The seasons are constantly changing and the opportunities never run out. While in the city, you have fewer unique places. There is an upside to living in the city, there are new things that do pop up. For example, plays, music events, sporting events etc. With this, you will never be alone. Where as in the country you always can find a quiet place to be alone. Although this is a downside in the city, you have more opportunities to find who have similar interests as you. Another aspect, is crime. There are two different ways to look at this. While in the city you could think that the people are safer due to the fact of guns, or you can Get

The country and the city life depicted in Alan Paton's novel Cry, The Beloved Country portray two different aspects of life in South Africa in the later half of the 1940's. The country life in the book is Ndotsheni and the city life is Johannesburg. Neither country life or city life would be considered perfect. Both living areas enjoyed positive aspects and negative drawbacks. The country was looked at as the backward part of South Africa, and the city was looked at as the advanced part of South Africa. For the most part though people living in the country would rater stay in the country, and those who make their living in the city would rather live there. These two parts of the country were only separated by a day's worth of travel on...show more content...

The Africans of Ndotsheni were backward people. They did have a school, but there were only teaching the same principles that had been passed on for generations. They were an uneducated people, as far as it would have been thought in the European sense of education. Family plays an important role to the tribes of Ndotsheni. The whole tribe looks after each other as if they were one large family. When a person is sick the whole community prays for a quick recovery. The community was anything but modern at this time. They little of modern technology and saw very few motorized vehicles.

Quite a bit different from the life in Ndotsheni was the city life of Johannesburg. This was an industrial city thriving off the mining of gold deposits. The white man was making a fortune off of the gold industry. The city was home to mostly all Afrikaners. The surrounding suburbs were where Africans were able to buy land or set up in shantytowns. This type of housing was barely decent enough to be called a home. In a suburb such as Claremont it is shabby and dirty, and the streets are filled with filth. In these areas is where loose women and criminals tended to live or hide out in. These are also the areas where the black children did not attend school either because they do not care or their parents do not care, or the schools are full. (59) The whites of the city
