Hiya! My name is Mr. Wilson and I’m a very affectionate 4-year-old boy who loves going for car rides and meeting new people. I also happen to be deaf. I will rely on you to communicate with me via body language, hand signals, and even facial expressions. Because of this, our bond will be special and unique! I am great with other dogs but not cats as I find them fun to chase. I have completed a 6-week obedience course where I learned all kinds of things. I have a willingness to please and to adapt to my deafness and I’m learning new training skills. Having the handicap of being deaf does not stop me at all. I’m looking for a family who will continue my training so I can work on learning more hand signals. I’m an all-around amazing guy and would do well with an adventuresome family. I’m also neutered, vaccinated, and heartworm negative. Adopt me and let’s create unforgettable memories together! Contact Hamilton’s Healing Hearts by email at hamiltonshealinghearts@gmail.com or give them a call at 910-271-5170 for more info on me.

Unconditional love, gratitude and tail wags to Cathy of Wiggle Butts Photography for giving me the opportunity to be a cover model. I appreciate your help and talents!

We are a sister and brother pair named Twizzler and Malcolm, just 3-years-old and super-loving as well as playful! We are a bonded pair so we must be adopted together. That’s me, Twizzler, the girl, on top. Malcolm and I both have a genetic eye condition that makes one of our eyes a bit cloudy, but it does not affect our quality of life or ability to bring joy to your home. Come meet us today, please. You will

find us at Southport Oak Island Animal Rescue (SOAR). Adoption hours are from 8am to Noon on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday (closed on Thursday and Sunday). If you have any questions, please call SOAR at 910-457-6340.

We are sponsored by SOAR in loving memory of all their wonderful, furry friends who made it safely to the Rainbow Bridge.

My name is Cinnamon and I’m a 47-pound, 4-year-old girl with a heart as sweet as my name! Despite facing neglect and mistreatment in the past, I have a spirit that remains unbroken, and my resilience shines through like a beacon of hope. I am searching for a sanctuary filled with love, patience, and understanding – a place where I can heal and rediscover the joy in life. With each gentle touch and reassuring word, you'll witness my trust slowly blossom, as I learn to wag my tail once more and embrace the warmth of human companionship. Because of my past, I do have a few requirements, such as a fenced-in yard, and I would like to be the only pup in the home. Together, you and I can rewrite my story and show everyone that I am deserving of all the love and care in the world. If you're ready to be the hero in my tale of redemption, come meet me today and let's start a new chapter filled with endless love and second chances. Paws Place is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10am to 2pm and there is no appointment necessary. Please call 910-845-7297 or email info@pawsplace.org with any questions.

I am sponsored by The Tree House Gang at Saltscapes Landscaping. Thank you!

SOUTHPORT OAK ISLAND ANIMAL RESCUE

I’m Suzie! At just 11-months of age, I’m a Treeing Walker Coonhound mix girl who is friendly, playful and full of affection. I have puppy energy to spare and would love to meet you in the play yard for some fun and games. We can cuddle, too! You’ll quickly see why I would be such a delightful and cherished new member of your family! Adoption hours are from 8am to Noon on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday (closed on Thursday and Sunday). For info, call SOAR at 910-457-6340. ♥

RESCUECONNECT

I'm Mickey! I was surrendered to the shelter for no apparent reason - because I'm wonderful! I am around 1-year-old, 22 pounds, neutered, heartworm negative, and current on all vaccines. I do well in a crate (after some short grumbling since I'd RATHER be with my people). I am housetrained and good with small kids and cats! I am a little intimidated by large dogs and could use some guidance on interactions with other dogs my size - a family with some dog experience to help me get settled would be ideal for me. For more info, please fill out an application at www.rescueconnectnc.com or call 910-302-7290 to schedule a meet and greet with me. ♥

PAWSITIVE PARTNERS PRISON PROGRAM

If you love big, friendly Labs, you'll love me, Queso! I’m a friendly, outgoing 2-year-old Lab mix boy who loves all people and other dogs! At 85 pounds, I’m currently in the Pawsitive Partners Prison Program in Burgaw being trained in basic obedience skills by carefully selected inmates. I passed all my temperament testing in the shelter, so besides being loveable and smart, I am super gentle, too. I will graduate from the program on July 9. If you're interested in meeting me, fill out an adoption application at www.montyshome.org. You can also email adopt@montsyhome.org or call Gail at 732-693-8462. ♥

COLUMBUS HUMANE SOCIETY

Hi there. My name is Moxie and I’m a 2-year-old, short-haired Torbie. I’m a calm and friendly girl who loves lap time! My foster mom says I’m very cuddly and sweet. I am litterboxtrained, I’m spayed and vaccinated and I’m good with other cats. Will you be my forever family? For more info or to adopt seven pounds of love, contact my foster mom at 224-805-2825. ♥

KITTY PAWTROL

Hello, my name is Adam and I am looking for my forever home. I am a complete lover and cuddler but I also really like to play. I am told that I play hard and love hard! I do find myself getting bored so I would do best with another cat or cats to play with. I am on the bigger side and very athletic. My foster mom tells me that I make her laugh a lot. I don't like to be by myself, which is why I would also prefer having some kitty or doggy friends to keep me company when I'm not hanging out with my human. I am always ready to meet people so I hope someone out there is wanting give me a chance! I’m already neutered, vaccinated, dewormed, and on flea medicine. Please email kittypawtrol@yahoo.com, call 812-598-0130 or visit us online at www.kittypawtrol.org. ♥

My name is Torta and I need a forever family. My foster mom and my big brother are very nice and have really helped me come out of my shell. As you can see, I am a petite girl and get called “adorable” a lot. I will be shy at first and will need an understanding person to give me some time to come out of my shell but I promise it will be worth the wait! Once I start feeling comfortable around you, I absolutely love pets and laying on you or being by your side. I also like to play and I am told that I sound like a herd of elephants when I start running around. I do enjoy another kitty to play with as long as they are not too domineering. I have very good kitty manners and always use the litterbox. I am spayed, vaccinated, and on flea medicine. Email kittypawtrol@yahoo.com, call 812-598-0130 or visit us at www.kittypawtrol.org to adopt. ♥

A SHELTER FRIEND

I used to be called Tiny Tim but boy, did I grow. At 9-months of age, I’m about 50 pounds so now you can just call me Tim. Sadly, I had a rocky start to life. Thank goodness for rescuers looking past my flaws to seek the perfect place for me to shine! First came a professional trainer to teach me the rules of dog. I take my time getting used to new people and ask for your patience. I am so worth it! I love toys and love to play. I also adore other dogs and am very submissive. I am neutered, vaccinated and on heartworm preventative. I am crate-trained and comfortable in my crate when you are away. And as you can see, I am very handsome with my silky fur coat. Call or text Sean at 910-918-5118 or Silvia at 910-876-0539 to learn more about me and how we can meet. ♥

Hi, my name is Kai! I am a large and plush 9-year-old declawed Tabby boy. My two brothers and I lost our home when our owner no longer wanted us and sent us all away. We live at a shelter where the people are very nice to us, but we would love homes of our own again with people who will love us for the rest of our lives. My brother Jay was adopted last week and he is so happy! I hope it is my turn soon. I like other cats, I am sweet and calm, and I am neutered, vaccinated and litterbox-trained. Please, won’t you think about giving me a home? Call my friend Sharon from The Ruffian Foundation at 910-262-8890 and let’s set up a day and time to meet. ♥

OPERATION TOPCAT

Hi, my name is Anna (Ah-Nuh...like from the movie Frozen). I am a 3-year-old Pit mix girl who LOVES people, ignores cats, and will require a proper introduction to new dogs. I really enjoy running and playing in a fencedin yard and would love to be part of an active family. I am spayed, vaccinated, microchipped and ready to play in your backyard. My name is Sriracha! I’m a 10-month-old fully vetted and microchipped girl. I love to play, lay next to you, and tell you all about my day. I’m very vocal! I enjoy freeze-dried beef treats, scratching posts, and plastic spring toys. I am shy with dogs but I’m great with other friendly cats and kids. I’m not a fan of loud noises, sharing my food, or getting my claws trimmed. When I’m over stimulated, I’ll walk away for some alone time. I’m confident, sweet, playful, food motivated, and very affectionate! Apply to adopt me at www.operationtopcatnc.org. You may call 910-545-9885 or email lovemycats721@gmail.com for more info. ♥

CAROLINA ANIMAL PROTECTION SOCIETY

My name is Athena and I’m a 4-year-old, spayed female who is current on vaccinations. My siblings and I came to CAPS after our family was faced with eviction. I’m a very laid-back and pleasingly plump little girl. I like to be petted, and I love to hang out with my family and siblings. I would do best in a quiet home without dogs and small children. For info, email capsrescue@yahoo.com, call 910-455-9682, or visit www.capsrescue.com. ♥

I’m Mr. Kitty, a 1½-year-old boy with shiny black hair. I am fully vetted and negative for FeLV/FIV. Sponsored in loving memory of Roxy.

Looking for a friendly fellow to enjoy life with? How about me?

I’m a 1-year-old Pit mix boy who is always wagging my tail at friends and strangers alike. I am so excited to see people and I’ve done well with the dogs I’ve gotten to know while here at the shelter. I have a happy-go-lucky personality, I’m already neutered, and my ID number is A487705. I’d love to meet you, your kids and any other dogs you might have, so please come and visit me at New Hanover Sheriff's Office Animal Services Unit in Wilmington. Adoption hours are Monday through Friday from 11am to 3:30pm and on Saturday from 8am to 11:30am. For more info, call 910-798-7500. See you soon!

I am sponsored by Robyn Davis in loving memory of Lou.

I’m a beautiful Shepherd mix pup named Ariel! I came to CARE with an injury which left me with permanent coordination and balance challenges. I may fall down a little more or have a few more challenges getting up, but this does not stop me from playing and running with my puppy friends. While I try hard to be a good girl, my condition can result in an accident here and there but a good routine and lots of yard space could be a big help. I’m in need of a loving home, with a yard and hopefully other dogs or kids to play with! To meet me, call 910-256-2624 or email carewilmington@yahoo.com.

I am sponsored by Atlantic Animal Hospital who supports Coastal Animal Rescue Effort (CARE).

◄I’m a darling Calico girl who is easy-going and friendly and I’m looking for a loving home. My past life was quite chaotic as I was one of 12 cats brought to the shelter by my former owner. My ID number is A488205 and I’m just 1-year-old. I love cat nip, I love seafood-flavored food and treats and I’m curious about my toys. Please visit me - you’ll see I’m wonderful! ♥

►I’m the cutest little Pocket Pittie girl you ever did see, just 1-yearold and 30 pounds of pure love! I’m so cute prancing around the shelter yard with my short little legs, all smiling and happy, and I’m totally okay to pause my prancing for some belly rubs, of course! I’m sweet, playful and a sucker for attention. Come on over, and please bring your children and any other dogs that you may already have at home so we can meet. I’m spayed and my ID number is A486447. ♥

◄My name is Rosie (A402871) and I’m a lovely girl with a sweet personality and medium-length fur. I came into the shelter on the thin side but the kind folks here have been giving me kitten food mixed in with adult food for the extra calories. I’m just 5-years-old, spayed, vaccinated and litterbox-trained. I’m exploring the cat room, but I’d prefer to be exploring my new home and enjoying the soft pets and caresses from my new family. Won’t you come and visit me today? ♥

►Hi there, my name is Max (A477644)! I’m a total sweetheart who loves all toys and all people. At just 1-year-old, I’m a Pit mix boy who was abandoned by a previous owner so now I’m on the search for a new love. Like all young pups, obedience training would bring out my full potential as well as create a loving bond between you and me! I have behaved well at doggy daycare and would love to be part of an active, committed family. If you have another dog or kids at home, bring them with you for a meet and greet! ♥

◄I’ve been here for over 100 days! Hi friends, my name is Grunt (A341682) and I’m a Husky mix boy with two ice blue eyes that will melt your heart. The shelter staff say I’m a laid-back fellow who is more interested in getting pets and rubs from humans than playing with toys. At 8-years-old, I am neutered, vaccinated and I’d love to meet you and your other dogs or kids. In fact, I’ve been to doggie daycare and am excellent with people and other dogs! I’ll be such an ideal companion! ♥

◄I’ve been here for over 80 days! My name is Ginger Snap (A484634) and I’m absolutely the sweetest girl! I love belly and chest rubs, I love people and I love cozy blankets. At 6 to 8-years-old, I enjoy playing but will also be happy to chill on the couch with you.

I’ve been to doggie daycare and behaved excellently with people and other dogs. Bring any dogs or kids that you have at home and let’s all get to know each other! ♥

◄ Hi! I’m Piper, a 1-year-old short-haired Tabby girl. I’m a very observant kitty. I like watching you, and then when I’m comfortable, I’ll come over to greet you. I am spayed, up to date on vaccinations, litterbox-trained and microchipped. Won’t you please come over and get to know me? I’m looking for a kind and gentle cat-lover who will enjoy seeing me blossom. ♥

◄Hi there, I’m Duke, a 5-year-old Black Lab mix. I’m house-trained and friendly with kids and other dogs, but I can be a bit timid at first. It’s thought that some people in the past were not very nice to me. I’m looking for a different sort of person, one who is patient with a big, soft heart. I enjoy going for walks and playing in the water, and I’d love a fenced yard for exercise and playtime. Please visit me at the shelter. We could be a perfect match! ♥

◄I’m a Survivor!

My name is Rizbee and I was found emaciated and deserted on the roadside. Pender County Humane Society took me in, got me to a doctor, and now I’m at a healthy weight and feeling great!

At 3-years of age, I’m an affectionate Pit Bull boy who loves to lay in laps and cuddle. I am neutered, vaccinated and heartworm negative, and I recently completed a month-long training program that will help me thrive in my new home. Please come by to get acquainted and find out the skills I have obtained during my training. I’d love to meet you! ♥

◄Hello friends, my name is Morris! I’m an Orange Tabby boy, just 1-year-old and extremely sweet. I check all the boxes: affectionate, happy, curious, playful, loving, friendly…the list just goes on and on! I am also neutered, up to date on vaccines and litterbox-trained. I tested negative for FIV and FIP which is very good news. Now I'm just waiting for a lap to call my very own. I’ll be ready to greet you, so please hurry over! ♥

►Terrific Tabby Alert! Hi everyone, I’m sweet Cora, a 1-year-old Tabby girl who loves cuddling with humans! I also enjoy playing with toys and would totally entertain you with my antics in our home. I am so happy to greet people in the playroom and I purr very happily when you pet me. I am vaccinated, spayed, litterbox-trained and microchipped. Come on over to the shelter and meet me! ♥

◄Calling All Boxer fans!

My name is Piper and I’m a 5-year-old Boxer mix girl. I’m sad to say the reason I am looking for a home is because my beloved owner recently passed away. You can imagine how confused I am as I have been a treasured family member since I was a little puppy. I am housetrained, vaccinated, on heartworm prevention and I once lived with a cat named Rudolph, who is also at the shelter waiting for a home. I’m friendly with children and my shelter friends were told I’m great with other dogs, too. I would be perfect for someone who is looking for a couch companion to cuddle with. Does that describe you? Please come visit me today! ♥

We are mellow, easy-going kitties who promise to bring joy into your life with unlimited cuddling sessions. I’m Stevie Wonder because I don't worry about a thing, except thunderstorms. As long as I am loved, everything is right in the world. My brother, Boo Boo, and I are senior male kitties who are declawed, neutered, vaccinated, FeLV/FIV negative, dewormed and on flea/tick prevention. We are good with other animals and have lived with other dogs and cats. We also could enjoy the company of kids as long as they are gentle. We are on the chubby side and I am missing one eye. My brother and I have only known one home for our entire lives and have always been treated with kindness. We recently lost that home through no fault of our own. Our mom had to move into a nursing facility and we were not allowed to go with her. Becoming homeless blindsided us so we may briefly be a little cautious, but we’re very friendly and confident once we know you. I love quality time with a human, and maybe my brother (if you decide to adopt us together). I love to be brushed and will roll over on my back so you don't miss any spots. Please call or text 949-702-5502 if you would like to be a companion to one or both of us.

Hi, my name is Freckles. Are you looking for perfection in the form of a dog? Ok, so nobody is perfect, but I think I come pretty close. I am a male Spaniel mix who is about 3-years-old. I was sprung from a rural NC shelter. I am already neutered and need to lose about 10 pounds, but I am a joy to be with each and every day. I am house-trained, crate-trained, great with dog (and cats and bunnies) and I love a good belly rub. Taking naps on the couch and just being in the company of others makes me so content. I will make an excellent addition to a loving family. For more information, please fill out an application at www.rescueconnectnc.com or call RescueConnect at 910-302-7290 to schedule a meet and greet with me. Hope to meet you soon!

I am sponsored by Cape Fear Spay/Neuter Clinic. Thank you!

►We are a bonded pair who would love a home together. My name is Merlin and I’m a 4-year-old Boxer mix. My very good friend is Vivian and she is a 5-year-old Lab mix. Sadly we were surrendered when our owner could no longer care for us. It’s become evident in our time here that Vivian is my emotional support buddy. The shelter promised they will do everything they can to keep us together. I am very shy until my Vivian is around, and then I follow her everywhere. As one of our volunteers said, we are two peas in a pod. We are both good-natured and friendly dogs. We know how to sit on command and take treats gently. Together, we are a wonderful pair. We are hoping to find a loving home for both of us. Part of our adoption fee has been sponsored. Yay! Do you have room in your heart and home for two good dogs? ♥

12:00 to 5:00 Tuesday - Friday 10:00 to 3:30 Saturday

◄I’m a long-haired floof who is looking for a permanent home. My name is Sheldon. I’m a sweet boy who was born in a home with other pets and was surrendered though no fault of my own. My owner became sick and could no longer care for me and my siblings. I can be timid at first, but I quickly warm up with scratches behind the ear. Want to know what I love even more than scratches? Catnip! ♥

►Kitten season is in full swing! I’m a 2-month-old sweet fluff ball named Pugsley and I’m just one of MANY cute and cuddly kittens available for adoption at Onslow County Animal Services. All kittens are up to date on starter vaccines, have received 30-day flea/ tick prevention, are spayed/ neutered and microchipped! Walk-in adoption hours are Noon to 5pm Tuesday through Friday and 10am to 3:30pm on Saturdays. ♥

►At first glance, I may look like a senior dog but it’s likely that I’m only around 3-years-old. My name is Ariel and I came to the shelter as a stray and severely emaciated. My story is unknown, but I most likely had a difficult life. I’m described as a gentle girl with soulful eyes. Recently, I enjoyed a spa day and came back looking and feeling so much better - and then I got even more love from the folks here. I have a good-nature and enjoy receiving affection but I need a home where I can rebuild my confidence and feel safe. I tested heartworm positive, so I will need a family who will follow through with my treatment, as well as helping me back to a healthy weight. Our non-profit partner, Paws 4 Purpose, is happy to help adopters of us heartworm positive pups with the cost of treatment, so please do not let that keep you from meeting and adopting me. ♥

◄I’m Arnie and it can be hard to get noticed as an adult cat in a room full of kittens. As an orange boy, I’m certainly deserving of attention. I’m a good-natured and friendly kitty who enjoys a good scratch between the ears. I’m a Tabby who is neutered and approximately 2-year-old. My dream is to go home to a nice sunny window ledge, a cozy napping spot and a human companion to give me all the scritches. If you are looking for a handsome orange boy, I'm the one for you! ♥

►I’m a cute kitty with a pink nose and a black mask, and I look like I should be a superhero! My name is Barbara and I came to the shelter with someone saying they found me, but I came with a dramatic entrance! When asked to proceed with the intake process, the finder became agitated and ended up dumping me in a crate in the lobby. The shelter is pretty sure that it was my owner who brought me in. Nevertheless, I have fit right into the shelter life so I can fit right into your home. I love catnip, I like meowing at my caretakers and people walking by, and I enjoy taking catnaps. ♥

Get Your Lab Love Right Here! My name is Aster and I'm a 1-year-old Yellow Lab mix girl, as sweet as can be. I’m your typically happy pup, but I’m a survivor, too! Yep, I somehow ingested rat poison before coming to the shelter. Thankfully, my new friends got me emergency care and I ended up having five blood transfusions! As you can see from my photo, I have made a full recovery and am feeling great. I love to play with other dogs and kids, I enjoy going for walks and I just really enjoy life! I’m definitely ready to be adopted and be someone’s sweet baby. Maybe yours? Come on over to Pender County Humane Society so we can meet, play and get to know each other! For visiting hours or any other information, please call 910-259-7022.

I am sponsored by the Furry Friends Re-sale Shop in honor and memory of all the animals who've passed through the doors of Pender County Humane Society.

Hi, I’m Macy! I am a wonderful 8-year-old Australian Shepherd mix girl who has lived in a home with children for 7-years. My old family ended up moving overseas and did not feel that the relocation and lifestyle change would fit me, so I was returned to CARE. I enjoy the company of other dogs that fit my play style, but usually I just like to chill and enjoy the fresh air. I appreciate getting all the pets from my human friends and one of my favorite activities is getting cozy in a comfy bed for a nice nap. I love treats, but I am working on getting to my ideal weight. I am otherwise happy, healthy and ready to find a comfortable home and new family to call my own. I am spayed, vaccinated, heartworm negative, microchipped and ready to meet you! If you are interested, please call 910-256-2624 or email carewilmington@yahoo.com.

I am sponsored by Atlantic Animal Hospital who supports Coastal Animal Rescue Effort (CARE).

◄My name is Lester T. and I am an old soul inside a young body. I’m 1-year-old and I don’t play too much, but sometimes I can’t get enough of my fishing pole. That little white area on my nose is the perfect “boop” spot, which isn’t my favorite, but it makes my foster mom happy so I’m ok with it. I enjoy getting pets all over and scratches on my cheek and I will snuggle right into your lap. I’m a little cranky when first introduced to other kitties, but I adapt. I’m FIV+ and it is not currently affecting my health. I have a normal life expectancy and can be around non-FIV cats. ♥

◄Hi, my name is Reeses. I'm a spunky girl with lots of sass. But the good kind of sass. I tell it like it is but will love you unconditionally. I love getting attention and pets, and having my long-hair brushed. I had double knee surgery and the doctors said I recovered really well. Something about my kneecaps weren't in the right place, so they had to move them back. Anyway, I would do better as an only cat because, I mean, look at me - I am a queen. I will tolerate and even play with other kitties if I must. Older children would be better for me as well. Hope to meet you soon! ♥

Adoption Fairs EVERY Saturday from 11am - 3pm at Pet Supplies Plus in Porters Neck (134 Hays Lane) or call 910-707-4372 to meet by appointment.

◄I’m Luna Bell, a gorgeous, sweet, spunky and inquisitive 2-year-old lady. I thoroughly enjoy frolicking around the house with toys and exploring. I adore being petted and held, but I’m still learning how to be a lap cat as I prefer to lay near you on the couch! Struggling to survive, I was found outside in some bushes where I was trying to protect my newborn babies. My babies have all been adopted, but my instincts are still strong and because of this, I’m reactive around other animals. I need to be the only animal in the house. I don’t attend adoption events so if you’re interested in meeting me, please reach out to us. ♥

► Have you ever seen such a cute curly-haired orange cat? My name is Shirley Temple and I am a sassy and classy girl who is very good about making her opinion known - I am quite vocal. I always want to be around my people getting attention and getting cuddles and pets. I like to sleep right next to you, and my purr can be heard from across the house. I’m playful and will be a great constant companion for someone. I’m a diva, but I do well around friendly cats with a proper introduction. Please send us a message to meet me in my foster home. ♥

◄▲We are Sansa (Tortie) and Joellie (Tabby) and we’re bonded best friends. I was an animal cruelty case because I was dunked in a tub of motor oil as a kitten. Despite that event, I still love people and am a lap magnet. My friend, Joellie, is blind and required a surgical procedure for eyelid agenesis. You'd never know she’s blind, though, since she has the confidence to get the zoomies all over the house and seek humans out for affection. We are both very loving lap cats with lots of personality. We must be adopted together and our ideal home would be on the calmer side with no infants or toddlers. Since we do not attend adoption fairs, would you please come meet us in our foster home? ♥

►My name is Milk Dud and, despite the looks of it, I am an energetic boy who’s super fun to play with. I love it when you drag a ball on a string or have a laser to chase. When I’m not playing, I love to cuddle with you or lay wherever you’re working or sitting. I may be a little shy at first, but will blossom into your best pal! I would prefer a home with no other cats. If you’re interested in adopting me, please reach out to set up an appointment as I do not attend adoption events. ♥

BOOP, my name is Hope! I am a sweet, playful girl who loves treats and toys and I love to give hugs. A nice couple found me on the side of the road and helped me get healthy. My foster mom has had me for about a year. I love her for taking such good care of me, but I'm really looking for someone who can play with me and maybe even take me on adventures. I love to go for rides in the car, as long as it’s not to the vet. I'm approximately 3-years-old, vaccinated, spayed, heartworm negative and on heartworm prevention. I'm a Treeing Walker Hound so I have a hound voice. Are you looking for a loving friend with a zest for life? I'm your girl! Make sure you have plenty of stuffed toys for me to disassemble because that’s my second favorite thing to do after riding in the car. If you would like to meet me and see if I’d be a good fit for your family, contact my Roseys Rescue foster mom by emailing roseysweezers7@aol.com or calling / texting 910-547-0998. You may also visit us at www.roseysrescue.com or on Facebook at Roseys Rescue.

I am sponsored in loving memory of Kathy Brite.

Hi there, friends! I’m a 6-month-old Shepherd/ Husky mix boy who came into the shelter as a stray. I’m very sweet and friendly and would pal around best with another laid-back, easy-going dog as I do need more

self-esteem boosting. I really want to engage with my person, so a family who will give me a job to do to keep my mind busy would be awesome. Experience with my breed is required! If you have another dog or kids at home, please bring them with you for a meet and greet. My ID number is A488068 and I’m at New Hanover Sheriff's Office Animal Services Unit in Wilmington. Adoption hours are Monday through Friday from 11am to 3:30pm and on Saturday from 8am to 11:30am. For more information, please call 910-798-7500.

I am sponsored by Fuzzy Peach (Monkey Junction). ♥ Free pup cups to any pet that visits! ♥ Fuzzy Peach loves pets.

◄I'm Charlotte, a friendly and loving Beagle mix girl, just 33 pounds and 11-years young! I’m the perfect size for snuggling on the couch or taking for leisurely walks outside. I have some special needs and a bit of neurological history, but don’t let that deter you. I have so much love to give and Paws Place will be glad to tell you more about my needs. I get along with dogs and cats and love attention. Meet me at the shelter, please! ♥

◄Hello, I’m Mocha, and it’s so nice to meet you! My pals say you are looking for a 1-year-old girl, brown in color and weighing 47.6 pounds... hmmm, well, you must be looking for me! I guess that means we're going to be best friends forever! My human friends say I am a ‘Free Spirit’ and that I beat to the rhythm of my own drum. This means I’m better suited for a family without small children. You see, sometimes I forget I’m not the size of a new born puppy. I like to play and sometimes forget how to play carefully. I don’t mean to, I just get so excited! I would also love to have a fenced in yard, go on walks and have adventures with my new forever family. So what do you say, won’t you come over and meet me - I’m a fantastic girl! ♥

◄Hi friends! My name is Ace and I’m a 5-year-old German Shepherd boy who weighs in at 62 pounds. I had a rough start to life but since my arrival at Paws Place I’ve put on weight and am feeling great! I’m busy showing the humans my goofy and playful personality. I am also learning to walk on a leash and can even sit! I am ready for adventures, naps on a cozy bed and movie nights with you! Won’t you please come meet me? ♥

◄Hi! I'm Anchovy, the newest addition to the shelter family, and boy, am I making waves! At just 5-months-old, I'm still a tiny fish in this big pond, but I'm growing faster than you can say 'fish food'! I’m a Shepherd mix girl, 23 pounds currently. I may be named after a tiny fish, but my heart is as big as the ocean, and I can't wait to find my forever family to swim through life's currents with. So, if you're looking for a bubbly companion to splash around and have fun with, come meet me, Anchovy! ♥

◄Hey everyone, I'm Stormy, a girl who is the life of the party! At 11-months-old, I'm still a pup, but I've got energy for days and a heart full of love. Being a Black Lab mix, I've got classic Lab goofiness and loyalty, but with a little extra pizzazz! Playtime is my favorite time, whether it's chasing balls, playing tug-of-war, or just zooming around the yard. But don't worry, I'm a cuddle expert, too! There's nothing I love more than snuggling up with my favorite humans after a long day of fun. Let’s meet at the shelter real soon, okay? ♥

◄Hi, I’m Ruby, an 11-month-old, three-legged wonder with a heart of gold! At just 29 pounds and growing, I’m a brave girl who hasn’t let anything dim my shining spirit. With my wagging tail and contagious zest for life, I’ve proven that true strength comes from within. Whether I’m chasing after my favorite toy or cuddled up in your lap, my love knows no bounds. Please visit - I’ll bring you so much joy! ♥

Hello everyone, my name is Moe. I am a medium-haired, 9-year-old declawed boy. For years, I was an emotional support animal for my beloved human mom. But a few months ago, she became very ill and has to have a lot of care. She wanted to be sure that I, her beloved Moe, would be cared for after she is gone. I came to live at The Ruffian Foundation. The volunteers love me but I want my own human again. I am calm and gentle and love to be petted. I am fine with other cats and I enjoy company. I am also neutered, vaccinated and litterboxtrained. Won’t you consider giving me a home where I can live out my years with a human all my own? Please call Sharon with The Ruffian Foundation at 910-262-8890 and let’s set up a day and time to meet.

I am sponsored by Tony and Peggy Durso. Thank you!

Hi everyone, Winnie here! I am so happy I can say I'm here because me and my sibs almost weren't. You see, the guy who owned us said he was going to throw us in the river (that couldn't be a good thing) if someone didn't come get us! Thankfully, someone came and scooped up me and my siblings and brought us someplace safe. Now I am waiting for my forever home of my very own. I am hanging out with my foster mom and furry foster brother. I love playing with him, but I think I get on his nerves sometimes. I really like to play and so I would love to find a furever home that has a furry brother who loves to play as much as me! I love running around and I have lotsa puppy energy (just ask my foster mom) so having a place for me to play whenever I want would be pawsome! I am getting age appropriate vaccinations, I’ve been microchipped and spayed and I received a clean bill of health. I'm so excited to still be here and not in the river. I can't wait to meet my furever family! Please call Freedom Bridge Animal Rescue NC at 843-614-0231, send an email to freedombridgeanimalrescuenc@gmail.com or visit www.freedombridgeanimalrescuenc.org to adopt me.

I am sponsored in loving memory of Larry Thayer.

◄ I’m Clarence, a 3-month-old happy-golucky boy and one of the sweetest kittens you’ll ever meet. I’m a fuzzy gray floof who is outgoing, social and super-playful. I love to be petted and enjoy the company of people and other cats. I’ll make a great addition to any home. My mom and siblings are all pictured on this page and we have our kitty bags packed. Call or text 910-599-2755 to meet any of us! ♥

◄I’m Chloe, a 2-year-old girl who is the most loving and laid-back mama cat ever! Not only am I just the sweetest, but my fur is a totally sweet pattern as well. The best guess to describe me is dilute gray Tortoiseshell/ Calico with white chest/feet and orange Tabby legs! Three of my kittens are featured on this page and the fourth, Claude, is on page 30. Call 910-599-2755 to arrange a day and time to meet and get acquainted! ♥

◄Hi there! I’m Ranveer, an 8-month-old black smoke panther with velvety fur and gorgeous, expressive eyes. I’m a total lover and if you sit down, I’ll come and snuggle right next to you. I love to be petted and purr in delight. I also love to zoom from one end of the house to the other and back. I play with my toys and with other cats and I’m OK with the dog at my foster home. To meet me, give my friends a call at 910-599-2755. ♥

◄I’m Clara, the only baby girl among my siblings (who are all pictured on this page along with my mom Chloe) and I’m such a beautiful little dilute gray Tortoiseshell. I just love my toys and peeps! Don’t worry, though, I am a mellow sweetheart who likes to be held and petted softly. I can be a bit shy at first, as I try to keep up with my brothers but, like most young ones, I warm up quickly. Please call or text 910-599-2755 and let’s meet! ♥

◄I’m Clarke, the most handsome gray and white baby kitten with the longest whiskers you’ve ever seen! Besides being adorable, I am full of energy and love to tumble into a

whole pile of my kitten siblings (also featured on this page). We are all curious kittens who are learning to appreciate lap time, chin scratches and head butts. At 3-months-old, I’m ready to be yours. Call or text 910-599-2755 today! ♥

▲My name is Carmen and I’m a gorgeous Lap Cat, just 1-year of age. I’m a medium-haired Calico girl with the most gentle personality. My terms are very simple: pets and purrs. I don’t mind other cats but will be just as happy as an only cat, provided I get a lot of quality time with my human. Please consider adopting a young adult cat. Simply call or text 910-599-2755 to arrange a visit with me. I promise I’ll shine like my inner kitten! ♥

My ID Number is A486618! I’m a silly, happy-golucky Hound mix girl who loves people, treats and playing in the sunshine! At 6 to 8-years-old, I am spayed and ready to be your devoted best friend. Meet me at New Hanover Sheriff’s Office Animal Services Unit and call 910-798-7500 with questions.

My name is Red (A451704)! At 3-years-old, I’m a laid-back Lab mix boy who loves belly rubs. I’ll try to get in your lap, too! I am neutered and looking forward to the day you arrive. Please hurry over to New Hanover Sheriff’s Office Animal Services Unit and call 910-798-7500 with any questions.

Lucy Tuna

ADOPT: All of our cats are anxiously waiting to be adopted! Whether you want a mellow Lap Cat or a bundle of energy, we will help you choose the cat who is right for you!

BUMBLE BEE

My name is Bumble Bee and FURR rescued me from a terrible situation. My big, bright eyes look just like a bee and my colors do, too. I am no bigger than a football and I have quite a silly and sassy personality. After I get to know you, I will follow you around while meowing and sticking my tail straight up in the air. I'm only 1 to 2-years-old, I’m spayed and vaccinated, and I love belly rubs. They tell me that I've probably had a litter of kittens in the past. I wonder what happened to them? All I need is a little patience and love to become your little friend. Please come visit me soon. I would probably prefer no dogs (they stink) or loud children (they also smell), but I will do just fine with other cats. Just call me "Bee" for short.

DONATE: Covering medical costs, pet supplies and food are every day expenses for FURR. We accept monetary and non-monetary donations which are tax-deductible to the extent of the law!

OSCAR & EMMY

We are Oscar and Emmy and we would be honored to award your home with love and joy. We can provide you with tons of fun every day. We enjoy play time and with lots of room to run all over the house, we will entertain you. We are silly siblings who just love life. At 1½-years-old, we will be the best kitties you've ever had for many years to come. We love new challenges, chasing toys, playing with kids and talking all about it. We are fully vetted, microchipped and ready to rock and roll. Why don't you come play with us and see what we have to offer. Check out videos of us at www.catfurr.org.

VOLUNTEER: There are lots of ways to help our cause, from raising awareness about spaying/neutering, to helping with fundraisers or simply volunteering time to care for the kitties!

CHARLIE

My name is Charlie. I am a teeny tiny female kitty who barely weighs 5 pounds soaking wet. I have had a traumatic kitten life and in a tragic turn of events, I saw my brother killed by a coyote. I somehow survived, but I need love and a quiet household so I can build up my confidence. You will not believe how GORGEOUS I am. I look like a little stuffed animal and I love to be held and brushed. I just need someone to dote over me and give me kitty treats. I’ve already been spayed, I’m current on vaccinations and I’m all set to move in with you. Stop on by our website at www.catfurr.org and check out videos of me.

Attention all Husbands! Do you have a wife who wants to bring home every homeless animal she sees? If that’s the case, I am the one for you! I am a pretty girl who was rescued from a mop bucket along with my two babies. I am confident and I like to be in charge but I’m also very social and affectionate. Other cats, dogs and young kids look like they are straight up out of a horror movie - so I need to be an only pet. Husband (aka: my new daddy), I am your ticket because you won't ever have to stop your wife from adopting more and more animals. I offer the perfect excuse. You will never have to say no to your wife as she holds kittens at adoption fairs. I will get to do it for you. You will only have one pet if you come get me. My name is Lysol. Please come meet me at Petsense at 1215 West Gate Drive in Leland or you may call Jill at 910-620-3783 with questions about me. For info, updates and upcoming adoption events, please visit us online at www.facebook.com/adoptanangelnc.

I am sponsored in honor of all the wonderful foster mommies and daddies who care for homeless animals.

Wanna have some fun with me every day of your life? Well, come on over and get to know me! I’m a 4 to 4½-month-old Shepherd/ Husky mix girl who is friendly, playful and happy to be with people. Like all young pups, a basic training course would be most beneficial and help me reach

my full potential. It would also be a wonderful bonding experience for me and my new family! Bring your kids and any other dogs you might have with you when you come visit. My ID number is A487851 and I’m at the New Hanover Sheriff's Office Animal Services Unit in Wilmington. Adoption hours are Monday through Friday from 11am to 3:30pm and on Saturday from 8am to 11:30am. For more information, call 910-798-7500.

I am sponsored by the Hufstedler family in loving memory of their past loved fur babies: Ella, Rex, Misty, Buddy, Dottie and Houston.

◄Dexter (AF1585) is my name and I’m a 1-year-old Pit mix boy, not too big and not too small. They say I’m just right! I’m up for fun and games or couch snuggling. I’m hoping for a little of both! I am already neutered and, as you can see, I’ve got my white shoes on and am ready to walk on out of here with you by my side! ♥

▲Hi, I’m Dewalt (AF1971), a 1-year-old tri-color Hound boy with ears that never quit and my friends say my eyes are soulful! I’m getting lots of love here at the Doggie Dorm but they tell me that it’s nothing like what I’ll get when I choose my one and only family. Let’s meet! ♥

◄I’m a unique find named Grimsby (AF1609)! It’s not often you see a blend of Hound and Great Dane which makes me quite a tall boy and very handsome, too! I’m just 3-years-old, already neutered and ready to be the best friend you’ve been searching for. Please stop by the shelter and pay me a visit. We can get to know each other in the play area and we just may discover that we are the perfect match! I can’t wait until you get here. ♥

►Hi there, my name is Shirley (AF1681)! My friends here call me Pretty Girl and I do kinda look like a painting with my multi-colored fur. At 8-years-old, I have everything it takes to settle right on into the household. I am spayed, vaccinated and litterbox-trained, and I’m ready to show you how easy life can be with a grown up kitty! Please stop by so I can choose you! I’m ready for home. ♥

◄Are you looking for a girlfriend? I’m Trixie (AF1761) and I’ll be a great gal pal! I’m quite a looker with my pretty blonde fur and my big Pittie smile and my flowing long ears. I’m just a youngster, too, at 2-years-old. Please hurry on by to meet me...we’ve got places to go, people to see and fun to have! ♥

Please visit our Facebook page to see other animals up for adoption.

◄Hi, I’m Keaton (AF2411), an 8-week-old kitten boy and I’ll let you in on a little secret - it may look like I’m all alone in this photo but I’m actually surrounded by lots of other kittens who are also ready for loving homes! We come in all sizes, shapes and colors and we hope to soon see you here. You will have a great time and you just may find your perfect darling! ♥

Looooooving you... is what John Jacob does best! My name is John Jacob Jingleheimer Schmidt, and I’m a funny and affectionate young pup full of energy and love! I’m a loyal companion who will stick by your side through thick and thin.

Although I’m a bit of a joker, I’m always up for a good snuggle and some belly rubs. I’m a friendly pooch who loves meeting new people, but I will always want to stick by my special person. I’m small for my breed (only about 35 pounds), perfect for a snuggly lap dog! I do very well with other dogs, though I can get a little scared of large male dogs (my rescuers think it may have been a large dog who attacked me, nearly causing me to lose a leg). I have tested well around cats, though I’m very curious about them. Depending on the cat, they may not appreciate my interest. I am heartworm positive, but have started treatment to eradicate the parasites. My adoption includes a contract that requires my treatment be completed through Wagon Tails Farm Rescue. I am neutered, microchipped, up to date on vaccines, and ready for my furever home! Overall, I’m a fantastic companion who is sure to bring laughter and joy to your home. If you're looking for an affectionate, loyal and funny pup, I’m the one for you! To apply for adoption, please visit us online at www.wagontailsfarm.org/adopt and start the application process. For more info, please call Wagon Tails Farm Rescue at 910-375-3105.

I am sponsored by Pawville. Thank you!

Hi! I’m Claude, a 3-monthold black and white baby boy. I’ve been a bundle of joy to my foster family, but will soon be ready for my own family. I'm a little purr machine who will keep you on your toes and bring a smile to your face. I can be separated from my mom Chloe and my siblings (featured on page 21) but two kittens are always better than one since we youngsters thrive when we have another fluff ball to tumble and chase! To meet me, my mom, or my siblings, please call or text Cat Adoption Team at 910-599-2755 and let’s arrange a day and time. You can also send an email to catilm@earthlink.net or message my friends on Facebook @CatAdoptionTeamNC.

I am sponsored by Danny and Lisa Merritt in memory of all their fur babies waiting at the Rainbow Bridge.

►Hi, my name is Ruby because I'm such a gem! At least that's what my foster Mama says. I'm about 3-years-old and a Hound mix. I was super scared in the shelter and then I got moved to a FBAR foster home. That was so cool, but it took me a hot minute with my foster mama to know that I was going to be ok. I am still a little nervous but I feel so much better now! I would love to have a fur brother who will show me the ropes and help me learn even more about being a doggy. A home with a fenced backyard would be super cool, too. I am super sweet and super healthy. I am vaccinated, microchipped, heartworm negative and spayed. I guess I'm ready for my forever home. I sure do hope you want to meet me. ♥

►My name is Annie (aka Jade) and I'm about 4-months-old. It’s believed that I lived most of my life in a cage because I had flat feet and was super scared in a crate. I didn't get much attention and was so lonely and scared, I decided to run away. Now, I'm with a super cool foster mom and I have other furry siblings to hang out with until I get my very own forever home. My feets are good and the doggy doctor said I am very healthy! I am current on vaccinations, I’ve been spayed and I even got a microchip. Everyone says I'm super sweet with medium energy. I love being around other furry friends and running around on the grass. My favorite place is rolling outside in the yard - it’s so fun! You should try it! I really hope you want to meet me. ♥

►Hi, my name is Super and I'm only about a 1-year-old. I like other furry dog siblings and would really like to have one all to myself. I figure that the two of us can hang out and she can help me if I get nervous. I like doing zoomies sometimes, so that would be awesome if I had a place to do that. I went to the doggy doctor and so far so good. I am getting up to date on all my vaccines, neutered and a microchip thing so if I get lost (and I won't) someone can find my people. I kinda think that there's a perfect home out there for me and I really hope that's true! ♥

►My name is Tigger! My foster mama named me that because she said I’m kinda goofy. I don't know what that means, but all I know is that she tells me I am a very good boy and very smart, even though I am silly sometimes. I know how to sit, down, sit pretty, army crawl and a couple of other things I won't say so they will be a surprise! I love my furry foster siblings and I love any humans, too. I think they're great. Especially when they're rubbing on me and giving me treats. I went to the vet and I’m super healthy. I’m neutered, heartworm negative, and microchipped. I sure would like a fenced yard so I can do my zoomies when I want. I'm still a youngin' at about 2 to 3-years-old so I like to play! I wouldn't mind a fur sibling, but I'm ok by myself if you like to have fun and go on adventures with me. ♥

►Hi, my name is Wallen and I am still waiting for my furever home and I don't know why? Doesn't anyone want to give me a chance? I promise to love you! You see, I came from a not-sogood situation and that makes me sad but I LOVE my foster parents and siblings. I know I am a bully breed but I am no bully! Once I trust you, I will love you forever. And honestly, just a few treats and I'm yours! I am learning manners with a really cool guy named Jeff. He says I am a good boy. My doggie doctor said I am healthy and have no little wormy things in my heart. I'm neutered, microchipped, and on heartworm prevention. Sometimes I get itchy skin, but my foster family gives me some medicine so it gets all better really quick. Well, enough about me - What ya think? Maybe you want to meet me? I hope so. ♥

◄My name is Yoda and I'm about 2 to 3-years-old. I love my people and would be great with or without a fur sister. I LOVE doing zoomies so I’ve gotta have a place I can do that, please. I'm learning my manners with my friend, Jeff, and my foster parents say I'm doing a good job! They're helping me be my very bestest self. I went to the doggy doctor and all is good with me. I have all my doggy shots, no heartwormies and I’ve been taking medicine every month so I don't get them. I’ve also been neutered and microchipped. So, I am all ready to go. My new family must promise to continue my training because I love it so much. I promise I will be the bestest boy ever! ♥

Hi, my name is Rowan and I’m a 7-year-old Boxer mix girl who is ready to join your family! I am house-trained, leash-trained, and I do very well with basic commands.

Long walks on the beach are one of my favorite activities (see my photo) and I also love playing with other pups! I am spayed, vaccinated and on heartworm, flea and tick prevention. A home without young children would be best for me, but I am great with other animals and would love a canine companion! If you’re interested in providing a sweetheart like me with a forever home, please call CARE at 910-256-2624 or send an email to carewilmington@yahoo.com.

Happy 4th of July!

Remember to bring pets inside during fireworks. Every year animals run off and are lost due to the noise.

◄I’m Jagger, a very handsome Husky mix boy with a thick, muted coat and gorgeous blue eyes. I’m friendly and eager to please, 1-year-old and 58 pounds. A basic training course would help me reach my full potential and I’d love a fenced-yard to play in. I am up to date on vaccines, neutered and take my heartworm pill every month. Am I the one you’re waiting for? ♥

◄I’m a brindle Pit Bull boy named Draco and I’d love to meet you! I enjoy being with people and I love to run and play. I’m eager to find my forever home so that I can shower my new family with love and kisses! At just 3½-years-old, I weigh 65 pounds and am neutered, vaccinated and microshipped. If you already have a dog, bring him or her along with you for a meet and greet! I might be the perfect fit for your family. ♥

◄Hello! I’m Connie, a 1-year-old Alaskan Husky mix girl with one blue eye and one brown. I’m a friendly and affectionate dog who loves to play. I'm also very clever and very treat motivated, which makes me easy to train. I’m a wonderful companion and I love to be included in all family activities. I’d do better in a home with no small children, as I still have a lot of puppy in me and like to play. I am heartworm positive, but I'm already spayed, vaccinated and current on heartworm, flea and tick prevention. Won’t you come meet me? ♥

◄My name is Dale and I’m a total hoot! I love to play and am good with other dogs. If you have another dog at home already, bring him or her to the shelter so that we can meet! I’m a 1-year-old Boxer mix boy who would love a fenced-in yard for playtime. Like all young pups, I could learn a lot in basic training and it would be a great way to bond for you and me! I am neutered, vaccinated and current on heartworm, flea and tick prevention. Come visit me soon! ♥

The shelter is currently open Monday through Friday from 10am to 2pm and closed on Saturday and Sunday.

►I’m a stunningly beautiful dilute Calico girl named Flo and I’d love to be part of your family! Right now I’m charming all the shelter staff and doing a little bird watching from the cat room’s cozy window seat. I’m an adult girl, spayed, up to date on vaccinations and litterbox-trained. I have everything it takes to be your best girl, so please come meet me soon! ♥

◄Hello, everyone! I’m Ramona, a 3-year-old black and white girl who is simply gorgeous! I’m new to the shelter and a bit shy, but I’ve been opening up more and more as I get comfortable. I adore sitting at the window and watching the world go by. Got a window for me? I am spayed, up to date on vaccines, litterbox-trained and on flea prevention. ♥

Hi, I’m Goldie, the goldenhearted Retriever mix pup who brightens every room I enter! Yes, I’m an adorable girl, 16-weeks-old, and I found my way to Paws Place along with my two sisters. Weighing in at a petite 18 pounds (but growing by the day!), I’m a bundle of joy with a wagging tail and a nose for adventure. With my soft fur and playful spirit, I’m sure to bring endless smiles and warmth to any home lucky enough to welcome me! Come on over to Paws Place and see why I’ve stolen everyone’s hearts. There is no appointment necessary and visiting hours are Tuesday through Saturday from 10am to 2pm. You can also call 910-845-7297 or email info@pawsplace.org with any questions.

I am sponsored by Pawville. Thank you!

It’s me, Nova, and I’m here to be your next loveable companion! I’m a sweet Hound girl, just 1½-years-old. I am looking for my forever home and I’d love little kids to play with. A fenced yard would be awesome, too, because I have a lot of fun energy. I enjoy playing with toys and other dogs, and you can often find me laying belly-up in the sunshine. As you can see from my photo, I’m a true nature lover. I’m already spayed, vaccinated and on heartworm prevention. Come on over to Pender County Humane Society so we can meet, cuddle and get to know each other! For visiting hours or any other info, call 910-259-7022.

I am sponsored in loving memory of Milo, Rocco and Don Johnson, who are loved and missed every day!!!

◄I am a Calico kitten with Tabby stripes in all my color patches. Some people call me a Calico Tabby, some call me a Tabbyco and some call me a Torbie with white. Most people just call me cute! I am current on age appropriate vaccinations and I have already been spayed. My name is Blossom and I’m a 3-month-old shorthaired kitten who is looking for a forever home. Do you need someone to keep you company? ♥

►I’m Nemo and I’m very indecisive. I can’t make up my mind if you are going to be my friend or not. I’ll run up to you, let you touch my head and then run away. It’s really hard for me to stand there with you until I get to know you. I’m a 14-month-old, black and white kitty and most people seem to want a younger kitten, or one more unusual than me, but we could be best friends if you give me the chance. ♥

◄Hi, I am Sara and this is my sister, Sue, pictured below and we would like to be adopted together. We have been here for a while and now we think it’s time to move on to a new home. I can be happy almost anywhere, but Sue is

shy and she depends on me to help her feel safe and relaxed. I hope we can find a family willing to adopt two very wellbehaved 1-year-old cats. We think we can be a good addition to your family. ♥

▲►We know you’re tired of seeing black and white kittens. Well, we’re tired of being overlooked because of the color of our fur and not the love in our hearts. There are a lot of us black and white kitties around, but we are one little family giving you three options! I’m Flirt and I’m a girl with barely any white fur (pictured on the top left). My brother, Fred, has a moderate amount of white (pictured on the top right). Then my other brother, Frank, has lots of white (pictured on the bottom). We’re only 4-months-old so we’re lively and playful. We don’t need to be adopted together, although that would be nice, but we are ready for our forever homes. ♥

▲►We are a beautiful litter of kittens, but none of us look even a little bit alike. Ellis is the only boy and he is an orange Tabby. Echo, pictured top right, is gray and white. Elf, the littlest one, is a pastel Calico. We came in with our mother when we were just born. That was 4-months ago and our mother has gone back to her home, leaving us here to find some new homes for ourselves. We are a lively, highenergy group and will bring some new spirit to your home.♥

If you would like more information, please call Feline Urgent Rescue and Rehab at 864-483-2444 or send an email to adoptafurrcat@gmail.com Terry is our personal assistant and she’ll be happy to answer any questions and arrange a time for us to meet.

If you have a spare room or bathroom, please consider fostering a kitty or two. You will be the bridge between what was and what can be. A pathway to a new life. Fostering is a very rewarding experience for a family or an individual. You will get to enjoy the company of us lovely kitties and feel like a hero. Because you will be to us!

►I’m a scruffy dog named Ambrosius, but feel free to call me Bro for short. I am young and I only weigh about 35 to 40 pounds. I'm a ball of playful energy with a heart of gold. Being around people is my absolute favorite thing, so walks, cuddles, and playtime are all at the top of my list! I get along great with other dogs, so if you have a furry friend at home, I'd love to be their new buddy. Just be warned, I might be a little vocal about my excitement. My bark is big because I just want to join in on the fun. If you're looking for a happy, energetic pup to add sunshine to your life, look no further. Let's meet and play! Please contact my foster parent, Miya, at 910-617-2344. ♥

►Hi, I’m Sadie Mae. I am a gorgeous, fluffy young adult. I only weigh about 35 pounds and I do great with other animals and older kids. I can be shy at first, but I warm up. I would do best in a quiet home with a fenced in yard. Another dog in the home would be helpful to show me the ropes. I have gone to doggie daycare and done well. If you would like to meet me, please call Jill at 910-620-3783 or come meet me at Petco on Saturdays.

►Are you looking to add a cat or two to your family? Well then, check us out! We are a lovely bonded pair of siblings named Blue (girl) and Georgie (boy). We are just 2-years-old and lost our home due to a

human’s allergies. We are calm and super sweet and love to get neck and belly rubs. We love each other, but are a little fearful of dogs. To meet us, stop in today at PetSense in Leland and see if you're a match or you may call Jill at 910-620-3783 with questions about us. ♥

►My name is Turks and I am gorgeous orange Tabby. I am a young adult who was rescued from an overcrowded shelter. I can be shy at first but I do warm up to become a sweet, social guy. I get along with other cats, but I have not been around dogs or kids yet. Please come meet me at Petco at 324 S. College Road near Market Street or call Jill at 910-620-3783 with questions. ♥

►My name is Mandy. I'm 1-year-old, and I’m spayed, dewormed and have been treated for fleas. I am a dainty, orange female which is a RARE FIND! Did you know that most orange cats are boys? I was transferred from Brunswick County Animal Services along with my 3 brothers and they've been adopted. Now, it's my turn to find my loving furever home. I'm definitely what you'd call a "Cat's Cat". I will thrive with a companion cat (male or female). I'm submissive and will not have any behavior issues. My foster home has a submissive adult male and female and I play with both of them. So if you're looking for a companion for your cat - I'm that cat! I'm friendly, loving and affectionate and very playful at times. I might be a little shy and timid at first, but as soon as I trust you, I will make a great addition to just about any home. I have never been around children or dogs, so that's unknown. If you are interested in adopting me, text Melinda at 910-471-6909. ♥

◄Lap Cat Alert!! Did you know that Lap Cats are pretty rare and they only come around once in a while? My name is Ember and I am a 1½-year-old neutered male orange Tabby. My favorite pastime is snuggling and I love to curl up on laps or in your arms at night. I also don't seem to mind dogs, of course the cat-friendly kind. Come meet me at PetSense in Leland or contact my foster mom, Jen, at 631-260-6142 with any questions. ♥

Breed Rescues

RUSSELL RESCUE OF THE CAROLINAS

My name is Lady and I have been in foster care for some time. I came from a home that didn’t treat me well and I was fearful of humans - keeping my distance. I have made a lot of progress. I need a secure fenced yard to share with another dog who can help me gain trust in my human. I currently have a female Jack Russell Terrier bestie who showed me the ropes. I love my foster mommy and getting all the scratches. I love treats! I prefer a calm environment with a person to begin with, who has a lot of patience and understanding of my breed. I promise I'll do my best to trust you. My home should be kid and cat-free. Email RussellRescueNC@gmail.com, call 910-821-3504 or visit www.facebook.com/russellrescuecarolinas. ♥

CAROLINA BASSET HOUND RESCUE

Are you looking for a pair of All-Stars to join your home team? Look no further than us! I’m Fenway and I’m bonded with Wrigley. We are more Beagle than Basset, but CBHR took us in because we are so darn cute. We might be named after ballparks in two very different cities, but we are a matched set if there ever was one. Where Wrigley goes, I follow and vice versa. We are great snuggle buddies and perfect pups for a family who enjoys lots of activities. We love to play with toys and our favorite game is watching our foster people pick up and put away all our toys (so we can pull them back out again). Such fun! We also love to watch TV and were so excited to get to see the Puppy Bowl this year. We are house-trained and like to ride in the car. We are frightened by sudden loud noises but we are really good dogs who sleep soundly through the night in our kennel. I am a little more reserved than Wrigley, and we are both a little cautious when meeting new people. We get along great with everyone we’ve met so far. Our fosters haven’t observed us around kiddos, but they feel we would do well with them. We are not lap dogs, but we do like to get attention. And let me tell you, I really enjoy getting pets from our foster dad. Wrigley loves to eat and sometimes shoves me away from my bowl, but neither of us shows any aggression around food. Our foster parents take us and our canine foster brothers to doggie daycare, and we love it! We come home exhausted after romping and playing with the many friends we’ve made there. If you are looking for a fine pair of Hounds, you will have won the World Series with us! We are the sweetest! To adopt us or another Basset, please call 888-909-2387 or visit us online at www.cbhr.com. ♥

HALFWAY HOUSE FOUNDATION

I'm Oreo, a 5-year-old Husky with a lot of sass and energy to share. I absolutely love attention and will always be by your side, ready for our next big adventure. I might be a bit bossy and full of energy, so I'll need someone who can keep up with me and keep me busy. I do great with kids and other dogs, which means I'd fit right in with an active family. But, I have to be honest - I have a high prey drive and just can't be around cats or other small animals. One of my cutest quirks is my sitting style. I sit with my back legs splayed out like a frog, which has earned me the nickname "Frogsky." If you're looking for a companion who will bring joy, laughter, and endless love to your home, I'll love you fiercely and loyally until my last breath. My team transports all over the United States, so my new home could be anywhere (except Hawaii or Alaska). Please visit www.huskyhalfwayhouse.org/adopt and fill out an application. If you’d like more info, email huskyhalfwayhouse@gmail.com or text 918-618-7070. ♥

FREEDOM GERMAN SHEPHERD RESCUE

Whether you are a Bridgerton fan or your favorite childhood book was “Eloise At The Plaza”, you have to admit that any Eloise deserves a posh and lavish life. I admit, I have had quite the glow up. My New Year did not start off great but I’ve since moved into my foster home and have blossomed into a beautiful young lady. My name is Eloise and I’m loving, cute, cuddly and nurturing. I really playing with my foster fur siblings, even though I am calm and collected. I am around 1½-years-old, 65 pounds, crate-trained, house-trained and great with cats and dogs. I am still building confidence so having another confident dog in the home would be an added bonus to help me learn even more. I have not been around children, but think I would do well with supervision. I love stuffed toys and take care of them as if they are my babies. A yard with a minimum of a 4-foot high fence is required. I do well on walks and love car rides and I’m low to moderate energy. I enjoy my lavish life as a couch potato! I don't mind going to the vet or being groomed. If I could be a member of your family, please complete an application at www.freedomgermanshepherdrescue.org and an adoption coordinator will be assigned to you. Please call 919-670-5905 or email info@freedomgsrescue.org for more information. ♥

Hi there, I’m Sid, an adventurous 1-year-old Retriever mix boy with a heart full of hugs! At 41 pounds, I’m a loveable pup who is always up for an escapade and eager to explore the world around me. With my charming personality and affectionate nature, I will steal your heart in no time. I’m a quick learner too, already mastering the art of sitting like a pro, especially when treats are involved. Get ready for endless cuddles and countless adventures with me by your side! You’ll find me at Paws Place and there is no appointment necessary - just come on by during visiting hours which are 10am to 2pm on Tuesday through Saturday. You can also call 910-845-7297 or email info@pawsplace.org with any questions.

I am sponsored by Ocean Grill and Tiki Bar in Carolina Beach and in loving memory of Bess and beach dogs everywhere.

I’m Azalea, an adorable little goof who is full of SO much personality and love. My human friends can’t wait to see me living my best life in my forever home! At 8-months-old, I’m a spayed Hound mix girl who came to CARE with Parvo but, with the love, care and medical expertise of the veterinary staff at Atlantic Animal Hospital, I have made a full recovery! Now, all that’s left is to find me the perfect home. If you are interested in a meeting or would like to know more about me, please call 910-256-2624 or email carewilmington@yahoo.com.

I am sponsored by Atlantic Animal Hospital who supports Coastal Animal Rescue Effort (CARE).

My name is Mira and I'm a 4-year-old German Shepherd. My people abandoned me at a rural shelter after leaving me tied to a tree my entire life. I was pulled from the shelter and I'm in a wonderful foster home now. On my freedom ride, the transporter told my foster mom that she thought I had a seizure. We went straight to the vet office and I've been taking Keppra ever since. I've had a few more seizures as we got the dosage and schedule worked out, but I'm doing great now. I am a very calm, sweet girl, but I'm very aloof until I get to know you. I would do best in a calm, quiet home and I get along with all of my foster brothers and sisters. Oh, and in case you wanted to adopt me, my medicine costs $31 a month at Costco. That’s only around $1 a day. I am a little finicky and will only take my meds if it is wrapped in melted cheddar cheese or wrapped in black forest ham lunch meat. I'm much too smart for pill pockets or any other sort of trickery you might try. For more info about me or if you’d like to meet me, contact Coastal Canine Rescue by calling 910-470-5554 or emailing coastalcaninerescue@ec.rr.com. You may also visit www.facebook.com/CoastalCanineRescue to see pictures of me and other pups looking for homes.

I am sponsored by Pawville. Thank you!

►I’m the cutest little kitten you ever did see, just 10-weeks-old and ready to be your best boy! My ID number is A056491 but I hope you’ll think of a great new name for me. I’m just one of dozens of cats and kittens waiting for homes here at the shelter. Come on over, pet and cuddle us, and choose the one who steals your heart away! ♥

◄Hi there! My name is Rex (A056039) and I’m a very handsome Lab mix boy, just 1½-years-old. I’ve been at the shelter since May 12, 2024 and I can’t understand why? Could it be because I’m heartworm positive? But that is totally treatable and I’ll be so grateful to you for adopting me and giving me a brand new life. Are you the lifesaver I’m searching for? ♥

Open Monday through Friday: 8am to Noon and 1pm to 5pm

Open Saturday and Sunday: Noon to 4pm

Please Adopt! WE’RE OVERCROWDED AND NEAR CAPACITY.

◄What a beauty I am! At just 2-years-old, I’m a golden-haired Border Collie mix girl who has been waiting for a home since June 2 of this year. Now why am I sitting here when I could be making some lucky person or family so very happy? Come on over to the shelter and get to know me. My ID number is A056377. We just may be the perfect match! ♥

◄I am a friendly and fun girl who is ready to make your life so much happier! Come visit and watch my tail wag as you greet me at my kennel door, then take me into the play area for some cuddle time. I’m a 2-year-old Pit Bull Terrier girl, red and white in color. I’m spayed and heartworm positive, but please don’t let that stop you from adopting me, they are totally treatable! My ID number is A055221 Come visit me soon! ♥

◄House Cat Alert! My name is Ray (A056363) and I’m a 7-yearold girl who is quite confused by my presence here! I’m used to living in a home with a family. I am spayed, up to date on vaccines, litterbox-trained and microchipped! And guess what - there is NO COST TO ADOPT ME thanks to kind friends of the shelter. Please give me a second chance at a happy life! ♥

◄As you can tell from my photo, I am ready to walk out of this shelter and into your car, home and heart! My name is Hades (A055225) and I’m a Black Lab mix boy who has been waiting for a family since April. I have already been neutered and I am negative for heartworms as well! At around 5-years of age, I’m a very sweet and friendly fellow who would love to see your face at my kennel door. We can go into the play area and get to know each other! ♥

I’m a smiley boy named Jacques and I recently took a weekend field trip to a foster home. I’m excited to say that I did great! I did well in a crate overnight and I loved going for walks, playing chase and hanging out with the family. I’m eager to please, very smart and responsive to corrections. Being a high-energy dog, I do best when getting plenty of exercise and enrichment. So if you are looking for a couch potato, I'm not the pooch for you. I love to run and play and adore interacting with my people. Bath time, belly rubs and giving kisses are great fun for me. I would be an amazing companion in a home with older children (due to my size and activity level) who want a four-legged friend to share in their adventures. It's been more than 2-months since I came to the shelter, so it's important to understand I will need time to adjust and feel "normal" in a home environment (and life outside of the kennel). I just know in the right home is out there so I can be a loyal, loving and beloved companion. Call Onslow County Animal Services at 910-937-1164 or 910-455-0182 or email animalservices@onslowcountync.gov for more info!

I’m a sweet girl named Sadie and I’ve been waiting for my forever family for over a month. Through my microchip and tags, the shelter was able to track me to multiple homes and owners. In my short life, it seems that I’ve sadly been passed from home to home to home. At 6-years of age, I am a Love Bug who loves meeting new people, giving kisses and getting lots of belly rubs and pets. I got straight As on my grooming report card and came back to the shelter feeling and looking like a new pup. I’m ready for a fresh start and a real forever home. I deserve a family who will love me for the rest of my life. I’m not disposable and neither is my love. I tested positive for heartworms and need a special family who will make sure I get treatment for a healthy heart. The shelter’s non-profit partner, Paws 4 Purpose, helps adopters with the cost of treatment, so please don't let that keep you from adopting a wonderful companion like me. If you are looking for love, I’m looking for you! You can meet me anytime during shelter hours. No appointment needed! Call Onslow County Animal Services at 910-937-1164 or 910-455-0182 or email animalservices@onslowcountync.gov for Info!

I am sponsored by Christy Lee. Thank you!

Wilmington, NC based non-profit, paws4people® foundation, proudly announces the placement of Coleman, a Crisis Response Facility Dog for Novant Health.

Hi, my name is Nebraska and I am a stunning Calico beauty Queen. I’m around 13-years-old and I’m a very loving and sassy girl. I found my way into a scary shelter last year and was very lucky to make it out. I am a Lap Cat and a huge cuddle bug, and I love to sleep against my person's side. I love attention, but if you do something I don't like, I will let you know, so small children would not be a good fit. It will take a while to adjust to a new environment, so I am available as a fosterto-adopt, which will give us time to get to know each other. I tolerate other cats if they don't get in my space, but I would be great on my own. I am calm and quiet and would be a great companion. Sometimes I get the zoomies and play like a kitten. I am current on vaccinations, spayed, and litterbox-trained. For info, call or text All 4 Cats at 910-707-4372 or email info@all4cats.org.

I am sponsored by Greenwood Pet Camp in memory of Duke.

Hi, my name is Nacho and I’m the handsome guy you saw on the May 2024 cover! I am around 3-years-old and even though I’m considered a bully breed mix, I am definitely no bully. In fact, I love hugs and always try to be the bestest boy! My current goals are getting someone to throw the ball for me, locating yummy treats for my belly, and finding a loving forever family. I’m in a foster home right now and have three furry step-siblings, which is a lot of fun. One of them makes a weird noise, kinda like a meow, but that's ok with me. I’m a pretty chill guy, already house-trained and leash-trained. I am also vaccinated, microchipped and neutered. My people told me I have heartworms, but that I shouldn’t worry because they will make me all better and, if someone wants to adopt me, they will pay for the rest of my treatments. Yay, for you and me! My foster mom says I am super sweet and she knows I am going to make someone really happy. I’d be good with or without a fur sibling (but no puppies or small dogs), and my paws are crossed with hopes that you want to meet me. Please call Freedom Bridge Animal Rescue NC at 843-614-0231, email freedombridgeanimalrescuenc@gmail.com or visit www.freedombridgeanimalrescuenc.org.

I am sponsored in loving memory of Nolan, a compassionate dog lover.

Thundering Paws Pet Adoption

►My name is Bear and I’m a 4-year-old prince. I’m super cuddly, affectionate, and love to be petted while I rest my head and paws on your lap. I had successful surgery on both eyes to treat an eyelid condition called entropion. That means my eyelid margins had 'flipped' over and as a result, hair was rubbing on the surface of my eye. I am fully recovered and do not need a 2nd surgery. Yay me! If my family will please keep my eyes clean by wiping them with warm water daily, that would be great. I am fully vaccinated, I am already neutered, I tested negative for Feline Leukemia and FIV, and I take flea prevention. I am doing very well and will make a purrfect emotional support animal. I love to stay by your side and purr as I give you love. I will be fine as a single cat. Please contact us today to meet or adopt me! ♥

◄My name is Clyde and I’m a 1½-year-old Tabby. I am the cat ambassador here. I love all the cats and will rub on kitties to be friends! With humans, I am a little shy at first but I’m very affectionate and enjoy pets and belly rubs once I get to know you.

I do not enjoy being in a crate at pet adoption events because I like to walk around freely and I easily get frightened by loud noises. I’m up to date on shots, neutered, tested negative for Feline Leukemia/FIV and microchipped. I’m ready for my forever home! ♥

►My name is Gulliver and I’m a 9-month-old white and black gentleman. I’m neutered, handsome, and looking for a forever home with a fellow kitty I can play with! I am a good boy, I’m up to date on vaccinations, I tested negative for FeLV/ FIV, and I’m dewormed and on flea prevention. I’m very friendly and ready to love you. ♥

►Hi, I’m Precious! I’m a 1-year-old, long-haired Calico who loves to make biscuits and make you feel loved. I arrived at Thundering Paws along with my kittens but I am ready for adoption since my boys have since found loving homes. I am spayed and fully vaccinated. Will you please give me a forever home? I promise to be your faithful companion. ♥

▲Hello, we are Breo (brother) and Bluey (sister), born April 2024. We are cutie pie siblings - I’m Breo, the black one and my sister Bluey is grey. We hope to find a home together as we are bonded and love each other. We both tested negative for Feline Leukemia/FIV, we are dewormed, and we will get our first shots when we gain some more weight. We were saved from a shelter where we had run out of time. We’re an affectionate and playful pair who love to be petted and make everyone smile! ♥

►Hi, my name is Oreo! I was rescued from under a shed at Lowe’s. I went to the vet and tested negative for Feline Leukemia/FIV, and was dewormed. I’m too young for shots and spaying now but will go to the vet as soon as I’m ready. I love to play, I’m very friendly and I’m litterbox-trained! ♥
