Priceless March 2024 Adopt ♥ Rescue ♥ Donate ♥ Foster ♥ Volunteer TM Expanding Families One Pet at a Time

My name is Luna and I’m a super sweet, 2-year-old German Shepherd and Husky mix girl. Recently, I had my heart broken. You see, I once was part of a wonderful family. They loved me and I loved them immensely. In my beloved family, there is a very ill little girl. I bonded with everyone, but most especially with that little girl. Sadly, she was hospitalized for an extended period of time and I missed her terribly. When she finally came home, I felt the need to love and protect her, so whenever someone wanted to attend to her, I would lay on her to keep her safe. I was never aggressive about it but, because of her fragile nature, everyone was afraid I would unintentionally hurt her. With lots of tears, I was returned to the shelter. Now, instead of sleeping in bed with my much loved family, I’m in a kennel.

I am vaccinated, house-trained, leash-trained and spayed. I love treats, desire adventure and enjoy obedience training. I know several commands and am eager to please you. All kinds of toys are great, but squeaky toys are my favorite. As an ideal companion, I genuinely adore people. I get along with other dogs, but my play style may be too dominant for some. If you could be the family I’ll treasure for a lifetime, please call or text Sean at 910-918-5118 or Silvia at 910-876-0539 with A Shelter Friend to learn how you can adopt me. I’d like to send kisses and heartfelt appreciation to Cathy of Wiggle Butts Photography. She made my cover shoot at the New Hanover County Arboretum so much fun and she brought the most scrumptious doggy treats, too.

My name is Finn and I'm a 1-year-old boy. I am a gem of a dog who is house-trained, neutered and vaccinated. I was rescued from the Bladen County Animal Shelter after being there for quite some time. I am super friendly and love to be with humans. I get along fine with other dogs. I have yet to be around cats but given my outgoing and loving nature, I can’t imagine I won’t get along with cats, too! I love giving kisses and cuddling. I will follow you everywhere and want to be with you always - you will be my best friend. My foster mom says I am very food motivated and this helps me to listen well. I am looking for a human who has the time to love on me and play with me. Given my age, I will need to get some energy out during the day. I love to play! Please contact my foster mom at 910-431-2993 to adopt me.

I am sponsored in loving memory of Rita and Larry Garst.

Hi, I’m Phoenix, a grateful young adult girl who was rescued from the street as I was giving birth to four adorable kittens. My life was saved weeks later when I was rushed to the hospital with acute mastitis and sepsis. Now recovered, I have turned out to be a sweet and affectionate cat who, to everyone’s surprise, is very playful! I love to bat my toys around and chase them down the hall. I get along well with other cats and love to hang out near my humans. I’m also spayed, vaccinated and litterbox-trained. To meet me, please call or text Cat Adoption Team at 910-599-2755 and let’s set a day and time. You can also send an email to catnc@earthlink.net or message my friends on Facebook @CatAdoptionTeamNC.

I am sponsored by Danny and Lisa Merritt in memory of all their fur babies waiting at the Rainbow Bridge.

A SHELTER FRIEND

Hi! I am Ellie, a happy 3-year-old girl who adores ALL humans. I want nothing more than to please you and will return your attention with hugs and kisses. Besides humans, I love balls so we can have loads of fun playing together! I am already spayed and current on vaccinations so I’m ready to move in. Hurry! Please call or text Sean 910-918-5118 or Silvia 910-876-0539 to learn about me and how we can meet. No one will ever love you like a dog who was once abandoned. ♥

RESCUECONNECT

Hello, My name is Hank! I am a 65 pound boy who is 6 to 7-years young! I like other dogs and cats and probably children. I’m an overall mellow and easygoing boy, perfect for just about any family. I love being with humans and getting love. The only thing I am not a fan of is riding in a car - that is not fun to me. My bags are packed and I am ready for my forever family. For more info or to fill out an adoption application, visit www.rescueconnectnc.com or call 910-352-5150 for more information! ♥

HUSKY HALFWAY HOUSE FOUNDATION

CAROLINA ANIMAL PROTECTION SOCIETY

My name is Cosmo and I’m a very sweet, but very shy boy. It takes me a little while to adjust to a new environment, but once I get comfortable in your loving home, I love to play. I’m good around other cats and very patient with kittens of all sizes. I am 3-years-old, neutered and up to date on vaccines. I’m looking for a family who will be patient with me. Could that be you? For more info or to adopt, please call 910-455-9682, email capsrescue@yahoo.com or visit us online at www.capsrescue.com. ♥

WAGON TAILS FARM RESCUE

My name is Rocky. Sadly, I lost my first human after 8 to 9-years together and now I'm looking for someone to love and hang out with me. I'm not as spunky as my foster siblings, but I still enjoy a good trot outside a couple times a day! My vision isn't so good, so I sometimes run into things while I learn the layout, but after that, give me some cool floors and comfy beds/pillows and I'll be the bestest dog ever! To apply, please visit us online at www.wagontailsfarm.org/adopt and start the application process. For more info, please call 910-375-3105. ♥

SOUTHPORT OAK ISLAND ANIMAL RESCUE

My name is Eve and I am an 8-year-old spayed female Husky with a unique spotted pattern. I grew up on a puppy mill farm before I was rescued by Husky Halfway House. I don't know what a couch is or what it is like to be in a home but I am so ready to find out. I am just a super sweet older girl who wants to find someone special to love because I really enjoy giving love to the dog handlers at the rescue. It would be so awesome to get that kind of attention all of the time. I can be bossy with other dogs but only when I want them to respect my space. If you want to know more or potentially adopt me, go to www.huskyhalfwayhouse.org/adopt and fill out an application or text 918-618-7070. My team transports all over the United States, so my new home could be anywhere (except Hawaii or Alaska). ♥

Looking for a low-to-theground Lap Dog and best friend? Well, have a look at me, I’m Wesley! I’m told that I’m likely a mix between Basset Hound and Corgi, and I’m a total cutie-pie, just 5-years-old and ready to make lots of fun memories with you. As you can see, I’m carrying a tennis ball in my mouth and that should give you a clue as to one of my favorite things to do: chase tennis balls! Don’t be fooled, though, I also enjoy relaxing, especially if I can cuddle in your lap! I hope you’ll soon make a plan to visit SOAR and get to know me. Adoption hours are from 8am to Noon on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday (closed on Thursday and Sunday). If you have any questions, please call SOAR at 910-457-6340. ♥

FUREVER FRIENDS ANIMAL RESCUE

HAMILTON’S HEALING HEARTS

Hi, I am Chick-fil-A, a 2-year-old, 49 pound, healthy Lab/Boxer/Pit mix. All of my 9 puppies have been adopted so now it is my turn. I am a super friendly, fun, patient and affectionate girl who loves to play with toys, friendly dogs and all humans. I walk perfectly on a leash, I’m potty and kennel-trained, I am vaccinated and a microchipped. You can watch a video of me on the FFAR Facebook page. I am being treated for those nasty heartworms, but FFAR is paying all costs. Interested adopters may contact Sharon at 910-617-3760 or Capeside Animal Hospital at 910-383-2100. ♥

PAWSITIVE PARTNERS PRISON PROGRAM

Hi, I’m Miley, a 2-year-old Hound mix girl. I LOVE everybody and get so excited when I meet new people! I get along great with other dogs and have met cats and they are ok, too. I complete my 7-weeks of obedience training on February 29 and am ready for a forever home. I come with my own crate, walking harness and leash, as well as a training DVD so you can learn all my cues. I am also microchipped, spayed, vaccinated and on heartworm prevention. To adopt me, please fill out an application at www.montyshome.org and we’ll call you to set up a meeting! If you have questions, call 732-693-8462 or send an email to adopt@montyshome.org. ♥

COASTAL ANIMAL RESCUE EFFORT (CARE)

I’m a beautiful Shepherd mix pup named Ariel! I came to CARE with an injury which left me with permanent coordination and balance challenges. I may fall down a little more or have a few more challenges getting up, but this does not stop me from playing and running with my puppy friends. While I try hard to be a good girl, my condition can result in an accident here and there but a good routine and lots of yard space could be a big help. I’m in need of a loving home, with a yard and hopefully other dogs or kids to play with! To meet me or learn more, call 910-256-2624 or email carewilmington@yahoo.com. ♥

Attention Dog Lovers! My name is Raven and I’m a Labrador Retriever mix with a zest for life. I’m 2-years-old, 35 pounds, heartworm negative, microchipped, current on vaccinations and spayed. I’ve been tested with every dog here and I love them all! I absolutely love everyone I meet. I was transferred here from a rural shelter in Louisiana. If you would like more info or would like to adopt me, call 910-271-5170 or send an email to hamiltonshealinghearts@gmail.com. ♥

My name is Stella

I’m a 5-year-old Bengal girl who needs to be an only cat. I have a beautiful coat and just want someone who can love me and let me sleep on the couch. I am already declawed, vaccinated, spayed, microchipped and on flea preventative. If you have a home without other dogs and cats, please call 910-271-5170 or send an email to hamiltonshealinghearts@gmail.com to adopt me. ♥

COLUMBUS HUMANE SOCIETY

I am Jax, a 9-month-old, handraised, bottle-fed baby and the only one to survive in my litter. I love lots of attention. I have been neutered and I am up to date on all age appropriate vaccines. I’m litterbox-trained, but I need a tall box or one with a cover, because I sort of throw litter everywhere when I'm finished. I get along very well with most dogs (small to medium size ones preferably) and I love children as well, especially when they baby me. I am not sure about other cats as I have not had a lot of experience with them. I would probably do fine after an adjustment period. I will need a little time to adjust to a new environment as well. I can offer you many years with lots of love. Call my foster mom at 910-625-9715 so we can meet. ♥

We're Happy To Welcome You Back In To Our Newly Renovated Hospital!

Hi! I’m Misty, a 6-month-old female kitten who was rescued on a cold and misty day in January. I quickly discovered I wanted a human’s love. I am very loving and purr all day. I love to play with cat toys and climb the cat tower. I am still a little fearful of loud sounds and unfamiliar people, but I become less so every day. I am spayed, vaccinated (Rabies and FVRCP), and received dewormers and flea treatments. I like other cats but have never been around a dog. I can’t wait to give love to my forever home. To meet me, contact my foster mom, Debra, at 804-814-2421 or debralfincher@yahoo.com.

I am sponsored in loving memory of Susan Brown.

◄I’m Norman (A477868) and I’m a 5-year-old Husky mix boy who is looking for an active family who will give me lots of love!

I passed all of the assesment tests given to me here and I get along with other dogs, girls especially. I’ve not torn up any of my blankets and I enjoy Kong toys to chew on. If you have any other dogs or children in the family, please bring them to the shelter so we can get acquainted! ♥

►My name is Cash (A440750)!

I’m a loveable 2-year-old Pit Bull boy who lost my home when my family split up. I’m playful, crate-trained and I enjoy attention from humans.

Like all young dogs, basic training would help me learn lots of new things and would be a great bonding experience for me and my new family. Oh, if you have another dog or kids at home, bring them on over for an introduction! ♥

◄Just look at what a handsome boy I am! At 5-years-old, I’m a tan and white Pit Bull who has impressed everyone with my quiet and laid-back personality while inside my kennel. But let me get some ‘outside time’ and I am running wide open with all smiles.

The staff say I am a “gentle soul” and they love being around me. I was tested with other dogs and did well with female dogs and other laid-back male dogs. If you have a dog or kids at home, please bring them with you for a meetand-greet! My ID number is A478335. Come on over! ♥

►If you’ve had your heart set on days filled with puppy kisses and puppy cuddles, I could be the boy for you! At 8-months-old, I’m Domino (A477127), a Pit Bull Terrier who loves people and enjoys play time in the shelter’s fenced yard.

I am food motivated and the staff is teaching me to “sit” before I get my dish. Like all pups, basic training would help me reach my full potential and you and I would bond as we learn together! Come and get to know me! ♥

◄Hi there, my name is Sauza (A400373) and I’m a 5-year-old Pit Bull Terrier girl who loves to play. I have an affectionate nature and can be a “leaner” at times, most especially when I’m getting some good back scratches or belly rubs! I sit patiently for food and am spayed. I’ve even been to a local doggy daycare facility for exercise and had a great time. Come meet me! ♥

◄I’m a happy, bouncy and playful girl, just 1-year-old and full of love for you! I’m a very pretty Shepherd mix and I’d love to be part of an active family. Long walks on the beach, hiking in the mountains and runs through the neighborhood would be right up my alley! My ID number is A478770 and I am spayed. If you have another dog or kids in the family, please bring them on over to the shelter so we can have a Meet and Greet. See ya soon! ♥

I am Beau and I am a very happy and loving 2-year-old male dog. I think I am a Shepherd and Yellow Lab mix. I have lots of energy and love to play, go on walks, and run. I enjoy playing in the water and ocean waves. I would like a home with a fenced yard where I can get lots of exercise. I am very smart, I know a few tricks and I am a good candidate for training. Mostly, I want someone who wants to provide lots of love and companionship. I am located in Holden Beach, NC and look forward to meeting my furever parents. To meet me, contact my foster mom, Debra, at 804-814-2421 or debralfincher@yahoo.com.

Hey, let’s hang out and make air biscuits. My name is Benjamin and I’m a 1-year-old wonderful boy. I am a real people kitty who loves to sit next to you so you can pet me and give me head, chin and belly rubs. In return, I like to give kisses. I'm a grey Tabby who is super friendly, calm and a great companion. I tested negative for FeLV/FIV, I’m litterbox-trained, and I’m up to date on shots, neutered, and microchipped. I’m great at caring for kittens but I like to be the boss of cats so I'll do better in a home with cat-friendly dogs. ◄Hi, I’m KitKat and I’m a 6-month-old Tortoiseshell. I have beautiful gold markings and super soft fur. I am super playful and athletic. I love affection and will hop on your lap or chest for pets and rubs. My best fur-friend is a dilute Calico named Mila (pictured below). We play together and love each other’s company. Could you give us both a home? ♥

◄I'm an adorable 5-month-old Calico named Mila! I tested negative for Feline Leukemia and FIV and I’m up to date on vaccinations. In February, I was spayed and microchipped. I’m a super affectionate girl who loves to play with anything and cats! I’ve never been around canines but I do not think I will have any problems if introduced properly to cat-friendly dogs. I’m a petite kitty and my best friend is KitKat (pictured above). It would be wonderful if we could be adopted together. ♥

►▼We are a cute litter of four and I’m the only girl. My adorable brothers are pictured below. We are all orange and white and super cute. We’re just learning to eat on our own and become independent from our mom. We will get our cute names when our individual purrsonalities start to shine. We are now 9-weeks-old. Why don’t you fill out an adoption application today and get pre-approved?! ♥

►Hi, I'm Juliet. I'm an 11-month-old orange Tabby girl who loves to be held on your shoulder! I've been through a lot since I was rescued, and spent the first months at the vet. I am spayed, vaccinated, negative for FeLV/FIV and in great health. I'm a little shy at first, but will come out of my shell in no time. I like to slow blink and give you loving looks. I’m looking for a quieter forever home with no dogs or young children! ♥

◄My name is Clyde and I’m a 1-year-old, neutered, shorthaired gray Tabby with white. I am the cat ambassador here. I love cats and will rub on kitties to be friends. I am a little shy at first but very affectionate, enjoy pets and belly rubs when I get to know you! I do not enjoy being in a crate at pet adoption events because I like to walk around freely and I am also easily frightened by loud noises. People misunderstand me and do not want to try to pet me. I’m vaccinated, negative for FeLV/FIV, microchipped and ready for my forever home! ♥

▲Kids love to pet me! My name is Peter Valentine and the heart marking on my side is my signature charm point. I am very friendly and I get along with kids, cats and dogs. I was abandoned at an apartment complex, was rescued and taken to the vet. I’m 2-years-old, vaccinated, neutered, and tested negative for FeLV/FIV. ♥

Thundering Paws Pet Adoption

Hi friends! We are affectionately known as “The Dynamic Duo” by our two-legged peeps. Let me tell you a little about us. My name is Wendell and I’m a 7-year old, out-going, loving, spotted Chiweenie. My brother, Skipper, is a spry 13-year-old, loving, low-key, black Schipperke. We both adore daily walks and plenty of cuddle time! Anyway, here’s our situation. Our forever human Mom passed away suddenly last month making us both utterly heartbroken and homeless. A kind family is currently fostering us, but we desperately wish to once again have a furever soft place to land and call home. Skipper and I are bonded and need to stay together. We are a “packaged deal” - if you get my meaning. We are neutered, fully vaccinated, heartworm negative, house-trained and leash-trained, require a fenced yard, get along with cats and other dogs and love to take rides in the car! Quite the total package, right? Might you be our furever person? If yes, please contact Crystal at 910-264-9560.

We are sponsored in loving memory of our Mom, Queen Anne, a dear friend who is deeply missed.

All 4 Cats

◄Good day, my name is Luna Bell I am a gorgeous, sweet, spunky and very inquisitive 2-year-old lady. I thoroughly enjoy frolicking around the house with toys and exploring around. I adore being petted and held, but I’m still learning how to be a lap cat as I prefer to lay near you on the couch! Struggling to survive, I was found outside in some bushes where I was trying to protect my newborn babies. My babies have since all been adopted, but my instincts are still strong and because of this, I’m reactive around other animals. I need to be the only animal in the house. I don’t attend adoption events so if you’re interested in meeting me, please reach out to us. ♥

►Hi! My name is Cyrus and I’m a beautiful black and white female kitty. I’m 8-months-old and a bit timid but once I get to know you, I become a puddle of purrs. I’d do better in a quiet house and I don’t like dogs but I love people! I do not attend adoption events so contact All 4 Cats if you’d like to meet me! ♥

◄My name is Milk Dud and, despite the looks of it, I am an energetic boy who’s super fun to play with. I love it when you drag a ball on a string or have a laser to chase. When I’m not playing, I love to cuddle with you or lay wherever you’re working or sitting. I may be a little shy at first, but will blossom into your best pal! I would prefer a home with no other cats. If you’re interested in adopting me, please reach out to set up an appointment as I do not attend adoption events. ♥

◄Hi! I am Oberonn, a playful 8-month-old boy with big beautiful ears. I do well with cats, dogs and children. I am looking for a family who will play with me and love me. Could it be you? I do not attend adoption events, so please contact All 4 Cats if you’re interested in adopting me. Thank mew! ♥

◄▼We are Sansa (Tortie) and Joellie (Tabby) and we’re bonded best friends. I was an animal cruelty case because I was dunked in a tub of motor oil as a kitten. Despite that event, I still love people and am a lap magnet. My friend, Joellie, is blind and required a surgical procedure for eyelid agenesis. You'd never know she’s blind, though, since she has the confidence to get the zoomies all over the house and seek humans out for affection. We are both very loving lap cats with lots of personality. We must be adopted together and our ideal home would be on the calmer side with no infants or toddlers. Come meet us in our foster home. ♥

Adoption Fairs EVERY Saturday from 11am - 3pm

► Have you ever seen a curly-haired orange cat? My name is Shirley Temple and I am a sassy and classy girl who is very good about making her opinion known - I am quite vocal. I always want to be around my people getting attention and getting cuddles and pets. I’m playful and will be a great constant companion for someone. I’m also a diva and I don’t do too well with other cats. I want all the attention. Send us a message to meet me in my foster home. ♥

Hi, my name is Milo. I’m a 2-year-old male Australian Shepherd and Chow mix who’s been neutered. I’m a very loyal, cute, and fluffy boy who loves to give kisses. I was surrendered by my previous owner for some resource guarding issues that I am currently in training for now. I was in a home with many other dogs and people and it was a little too much for me.

My hips are a little sore, even though I’m only 2-years-old. I will go to your home with all my preventions, medications and supplements. All my vaccines are up to date, too. I need a family who can maintain my training and give my Shepherd brain some constructive and positive outlets. I’m really trying to be a good boy so I can find my forever home. Any potential adopters are invited to come to my future training sessions to see all I have learned. Please call or text my foster parent at 703-945-2155 to meet me.

I am sponsored in loving memory of Maverick.

Hi there friend, I’m Smuckers and I got my name because of how sweet I am, just like the jam! At 5-years-old and 50 pounds, I’m a Hound boy who loves going for walks, meeting new friends, playing with toys and snacking on those treats called dog cookies! I am being treated for heartworms at the moment, and am taking things easy, but I will be as good as new in no time! The humans have been giving me fun toys to play with so I’m definitely not bored. Every day is like Christmas because every day I get a new toy to try out! Come on over soon, okay? I would love to meet you! Paws Place Dog Rescue is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10am to 2pm, and there is no appointment necessary. You can also call 910-845-7297 or email info@pawsplace.org with any questions.

I am sponsored in loving memory of Steve Zimmerman.

Hello Lovers of Sexy Russian Blues! My friends here at Feline Urgent Rescue and Rehab call me Blue Marlin I'm just the sweetest, gentlest boy who is a teensy bit shy but I’m super sexy. My fur is so incredibly soft and I really love to be petted! I get along great with all the other kitties here and it should come as no surprise that everyone at FURR loves me. I have a brother named Perch and we look just alike. Although, he’s a little pudgy and loves a good belly rub. You can adopt both of us together if you’d like or you can just adopt me. What's more beautiful than a silvery smooth Russian Blue mix? Not much! Hop online and check out videos of me at www.catfurr.org. Please call 864-483-2444 or email adoptafurrcat@gmail.com to adopt me.

I am sponsored in loving memory of Jane “Button” Honeycutt Spencer.

◄Hi there, I’m Ferris, a 25-pound, 3-year-old boy! Some call me short-stack, low-rider, or the teeny-weeny Hound dog, but let me tell you, I have a full-sized personality! I’m active and fun and would love a home with a fenced-in yard. I’m also a very chill dude who likes sitting at a window and watching the birds. Sometimes I’ll even sing with them! And I’m definitely a big belly rub lover! If you want a pal who is affectionate, active, and has the voice of an angel, I am your guy! ♥

►Hi, I’m Ellie, a petite 32-pound Terrier mix girl who just celebrated my 2nd birthday! Since my arrival, I’ve been learning leash manners and a few other tricks. I just love going on walks! I am still very much a puppy, so I love to play, run and go on adventures. But don’t get me wrong...I do love a good cuddle session on the couch. If you love adventures and low-key movie nights, I am your girl! Stop on by...I promise you won’t miss me, just look for my ears! We could be forever best friends. ♥

◄Howdy! My name is Travis and I’m a Hound mix boy, just 2-years-old and a perfect medium size at 51 pounds. Now I may be two, but I still have so much puppy in me! I am curious, I love to play, I am trying to learn my manners, and I am learning how to walk on those harness things that the humans use. It is very exciting to learn new things! I think I hear the dinner bell so I am going to skedaddle. I hope to meet you soon. Tell them I sent ya! ♥

◄HEY HEY! It’s me, Gouda, a sweet and bubbly Hound mix boy who loves to play! At 3-years-old, I’m a social butterfly who is looking for a super-fun family to go on adventures with. I just love the outdoors! If you are looking for a hiking, beach or walking partner, I’m your boy! The best thing about me is that after a long day of adventure I am 60 pounds of pure cuddle bug. I am Paws Place’s longest resident, so let’s meet at the shelter real soon! ♥

◄Cinnamon is my name and I’m a 3-year-old, 43-pound snuggle-bug girl who’s had a rough start in life. Due to my shy, timid ways I’d prefer to be the only pup at home. The humans believe I wasn’t socialized much, so they’re very patient and let me settle in at my own pace. I know there is love in the world, and that my person is out there. Won’t you please come visit and get to know me? ♥

◄Hi there, I’m Mocha and I love to cuddle, get pets, be rubbed, all of the things. I just love to be loved! Not only am I a good girl, I know how to sit, too, as you can see from my photo! I’m young at 1-year-old and I weigh around 39 pounds. I would love a forever home with loving people and a fenced-in yard. Sometimes I forget how big I am when I play, so it would be best if there are no little ones in the household, just teens and/or adults. Give me a cookie when you visit and I’ll sit for you! ♥

Hi, my name is Buster and I am still a youngin' at 1-year-old. I would love to have my very own person so I can be a Lap Dog and just get loved on. I do like other pups, but I really like humans! I will let you know if I need something (my foster Mama says my barking is talking and that sometimes I have a lot to say). I went to the doggy doctor and she said I was very healthy but I need to stop eating something called chicken. It makes me itchy and a little grumpy. I had lots of skin problems, but now I am so much better. I'm a little guy but my personality makes up for it for sure. If you have an open lap, I'm yours! Please let my peeps know if you would like to meet me. If you would like more information or would like to adopt me, email Freedom Bridge Animal Rescue NC at freedombridgeanimalrescuenc@gmail.com or give them a call at 843-614-0231. “What an absolutely loveable girl!” That’s what my shelter friends say about me, and it’s what I hope you’ll say as you’re filling out my adoption papers! I’m a 6-monthold Black Lab mix, already spayed, vaccinated, microchipped and ready to head on home. Like most puppies, I’m active, playful, friendly and fun! I enjoy teething chew toys and being with people. If you have another dog or kids at home, bring them with you for a meet and greet! My ID number is A479229 and I can be found at New Hanover Sheriff's Office Animal Services Unit in Wilmington. Adoption hours are Monday through Friday from 11am to 3:30pm and on Saturday from 8am to 11:30am. For more information, call 910-798-7500.

◄Hi! I’m Oliver, a laid-back, super affectionate boy who loves to be near my humans as much as possible and I enjoy being petted. I just turned 3-years-old and was returned to Cat Adoption Team through no fault of my own - it’s just that my owner’s work circumstances changed. I’m a fantastic companion and lived in my former home as an only cat, but I get along with other felines. Please call or text 910-599-2755 to meet me! ♥

◄Hi there, I’m Damien and I’m a uniquely colored brown/chocolate Tabby with hints of vanilla ice cream sundae with caramel! At almost 2-years-old, I’m a laid-back and very affectionate boy who lost my family when they moved away and couldn’t take me with them. I was returned to the rescue along with my brother Dorian due to no fault of our own. You can see a picture of Dorian on this page also. Since we are sad and confused, everyone would like to see us stay together. If you are interested in a pair of friendly, loving and laid-back young cats, we would be a fantastic addition to your family! Give Cat Adoption Team a call or text at 910-599-2755 and let’s decide on a day and time to meet face-to-face. ♥

◄I’m Josie, a sweet, young girl with the softest black fur. I was adopted two years ago and have been returned to Cat Adoption Team because my owner moved away. I just turned 5-years-old and deserve better. I love to be near my humans, I thrive on attention and I reward you with a big purr. As a sleek house panther, I’m active and like to perch in high places, such as the top of a cat tree. I get along well with other cats and I don’t even mind the dogs at my foster home. To meet me, please call or text Cat Adoption Team at 910-599-2755. ♥

◄I’m Dorian, a friendly, affectionate, gentle and playful boy. I’m also a beautifully colored brown/ chocolate Tabby with white, caramel and peanut butter (?) smudges. I’m as sweet as can be but super confused because I’ve lost the only home I’ve ever known. After being adopted together with my brother Damien as kittens, we were returned to the rescue when our family moved and couldn’t take us! At almost two-years-old, we’ve been together all our lives and would be sad and depressed if separated. Damien is pictured on this page also. If you’re interested in a pair of friendly, loving, and laid-back young cats, we two would be a great addition to your family! Simply call or text 910-599-2755 to set up a day and time to meet. See you soon! ♥

◄▼Hi everyone! I’m Esmeralda, the black and white girl on top, and this is my pretty sister, Loralei. She’s a brown and chocolate Tabby with white fur. Now just 3-months-old, we were rescued from the great outdoors. We two curious girls have quickly learned the advantages of indoor living and we really appreciate scrumptious treats! We love to play with each other andyes, for treats - we will sit next to you for a petting session. We two brave little souls are a sweet pair who will need someone to help us feel more comfortable in our forever home. We are sprouting up fast and our personalities are just blossoming. Please call or text 910-599-2755 so that we can meet! ♥

A FOSTER HOME SAVED OUR LIVES

There was nothing wrong with us. We just ran out of time.

Please contact your local shelter if you have room in your home for a temporary pet and would like to know more about fostering.

Hi there, my name is Sid (A480395) and I’m a 12-year-old Pit mix boy. If you’re wondering why a fellow my age is sitting at a shelter rather than cuddling with a loving family, I am too! You see, I was found as a ‘stray’, but when my owners were found and contacted, they never came to the shelter looking for me. It’s quite a mystery, especially when you consider what a laid-back and friendly sweetheart I am. I definitely still have pep in my step and enjoy playing in the shelter’s fenced yard. If you’re looking for a companion to take on walks and snuggle with, I hope you’ll consider me! And if you have another dog or kids at home, bring them with you for a meet and greet. I’m at New Hanover Sheriff's Office Animal Services Unit in Wilmington. Adoption hours are Monday through Friday from 11am to 3:30pm and on Saturday from 8am to 11:30am. For more information, call 910-798-7500.

BUBBLES

My name is Bubbles and there is no other kitty like me. I was rescued by FURR while hiding out in a bunch of pallets at a seafood place. I was so scared and hungry and I didn't know what was going to happen to me. Now, I'm the sweetest companion and the best thing since sliced bread. I love all the happy FURR kitties and volunteers who help me. I have the most adorable tiny meow meow and I am very talkative. I am now healthy, spayed, vaccinated, affectionate and cute as a bug. I promise that if you come visit me, you will love me! I'm alr eady grateful to you for reading this. Hope to see you soon. Check out videos of me at www.catfurr.org so you can hear my little voice.

DONATE: Covering medical costs, pet supplies and food are every day expenses for FURR. We accept monetary and non-monetary donations which are tax-deductible to the extent of the law!

CHARLIE

My name is Charlie. I am a teeny tiny female kitty who barely weighs 5 pounds soaking wet. I have had a traumatic kitten life and in a tragic turn of events, I saw my brother killed by a coyote. I somehow survived, but I need love and a quiet household so I can build up my confidence. You will not believe how GORGEOUS I am. I look like a little stuffed animal and I love to be held and brushed. I just need someone to dote over me and give me kitty treats. I’ve already been spayed, I’m current on vaccinations and I’m all set to move in with you. Stop on by our website at www.catfurr.org and check out videos of me.

VOLUNTEER: There are lots of ways to help our cause, from raising awareness about spaying/neutering, to helping with fundraisers or simply volunteering time to care for the kitties!

SHELLS

Hello Kitty Lovers! I’ve tried so hard to find a forever home. I was even featured on the cover of PawPrints Magazine. How could anyone resist my beautiful and unique coloring and this sweet face? I am a young dilute gray Tortie girl. I get along well with ALL the kitties at FURR and I just LOVE to chase the laser light. My next favorite thing is treats. I’ll come running when you shake the box. I hope you'll give me a chance to steal your heart away! Please come out and visit with me. You'll be so glad you did! I especially like getting those cookies after doing my cool tricks. If you’re looking for a medium to small dog, I’m just 44 pounds - a perfect size! I love to get pets, hugs and kisses. I’m affectionate and great with people of all ages, especially kids. I really love company and I’m vocal when I want attention. I enjoy playing with my favorite flier wand and crinkle toys. My favorite place is by the window or snuggling next to you under the blankets. I would do best being the only animal in the household; I’m not the biggest fan of dogs, but with time and patience I may be able to get along with other cats. I would be the happiest with someone who is home often to give me lots of attention. In my first home last summer, the resident cats didn't accept me and in my current foster home, I’m not able to get along with their friendly dog. I have lots of love to share if your family is in need of a new companion. Won’t you come meet me at SOAR? ◄Hi, I’m Ms. Kitty (AF144), and I’m looking for a home where I can kick back and live the relaxing life of a senior citizen. At 12-years-old, I’m more than ready for good times with friends and family...and you’re more than welcome to give me a cuddle during nap time! ♥

◄Hey guys, Sully (AF94) here! I’m just a puppy boy at 4-months-old, and I need the guidance of a loving family. I’ll be a super guy, and I'll learn really fast. I’m a Pittie type and my friends here say that my silver-blue coat is totally beautiful and it accents my unique eyes. I guess you could say I’m one of a kind! Stop by so we can have a Meet-and-Greet in the play area! ♥

◄Hi, I’m Raven (AF7), and at 9-years-old I’m a gentle soul who is easy to walk and be loved on. I have to admit, I do love belly rubs and attention! My ginger-red coat is easy maintenance, and I am, too! I’m a Labbie type of girl, already spayed and up to date on all my vaccinations. As much as I love my friends here, I desperately want my own family. If you have a soft spot for mature girls like me, as well as the wisdom to know that I’m ready-made to be a fabulous companion, please come over and meet me! ♥

►I’ve been told I’m a staff favorite! My name is Freya (AF29) and I am barely older than a baby kitten at just 1-year of age. My friends would like you to know that I’m a great find! I’m simply adorable and a true sweetheart. Won’t you please stop by and see if we’re a Life Match? You’ll soon see why everyone thinks I’m a gem! ♥

◄Hi, I’m the mighty Simba (AF213)! I’m one of a couple of Husky types here at the doggie dorm right now, and we know there are Husky lovin’ homes out there, so I just wanted to give a shout out that we’re ready to rock and roll and join the party!

I’m a 6-year-old boy with bright blue eyes. Stop on by, please! ♥

SATURDAYS!

I'm Maverick! I am the most affectionate boy who is 2 or 3-years-old. I’m looking for my full-time human who will give me all the pets and forehead kisses in the world. I used to be a stray cat and got stuck in a fence, which resulted in losing my back right leg (hence my pirate name). But this hasn't slowed me down at all! I want to find my forever human to cuddle with and who will scratch my neck where I can't reach anymore. I love getting head and neck scritches, forehead and cheek kisses but if you stop, I'll tap your shoulder and politely ask for more. I am also an industrious biscuit-maker and want nothing more than to be around my human 24/7. I like other cats, and while I haven't been around dogs before, they would probably be ok as long as I get first dibs on human cuddle time. A note from my foster mom, “Maverick is the most affectionate cat I've ever met (including my own cats, which is saying something). I can't wait for him to find his home where he can have as much time and attention as he wants. He is a little shy on first meeting, but within an hour of knowing him he was purring and climbing in my lap to headbutt my face. I am sponsored by Pawville. Thank you!

I'm Peace, a 6-month-old Shepherd/Black Mouth Cur mix girl looking for a forever bestie to do all the fun stuff with. I am initially shy, probably because the first five months of my life have been a little strange. Everything is new and exciting, but it takes me a moment to take it all in. I am working on leash stuff but I really like playgroup. I know life will get so much better and someone out there will help me build up my confidence and let my worries slowly creep away, thanks to the love they will share. Until then, I will be waiting. I know you are out there and that you were made for me! I’m at Paws Place Dog Rescue and there is no appointment necessary for us to meet. The shelter is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10am to 2pm. You can also call 910-845-7297 or email info@pawsplace.org.

I am sponsored in loving memory of Wicket Zimmerman.

►Hi, I’m Joi Belle. I'm just a tiny girl, just 4 pounds, and I am a Yorkie mix. I don't have much hair right now beause it was a knotty mess and I had to shave it off. I wear little sweaters to keep me warm outside when I handle my business. I went to the vet and they said I need to have all my teeth pulled. My toofers are bad as is my breath but that's ok, I will still be beautiful! I love my foster mama but I sure would like my own family.

I love laying in my human's lap and getting rubs. I like other doggy friends but I haven’t been around cats. I’m vaccinated, heartworm negative and microchipped. Once I get my teeth taken care of and spayed, I’ll be good to go.

Would you like to meet me so we can be family? ♥

►My name is Emmy and I lived with my sister, Joi Belle (pictured left), for a long time. I really love her but I would be ok if she had another home and I had a fur brother or sister to love, too. I like hugs and stuff but I can be a little reserved until I trust you. I need someone who is going to give me a little time and then I’ll love you forever. I really do need a fur sister or brother, like I said. I'm pretty scared by myself. I went to the vet and I got all my vaccinations. I still need to be spayed and microchipped, but my people are going to take care of that. I think I’m a Shih Tzu mix but I had to get all my hairs shaved because it was a mess. Now, I think I look fabulous. I hope you are interested in meeting me! I am waiting for you. You like my super cool sweater? ♥

►My name is Poochie, I'm about 5-years-old and I’m super sweet. I was in a very loud place and I heard them say it was my time. I didn't know what that meant, but they all seemed really sad, so then I was sad and scared, too! Then Freedom Bridge came to save me. They told me I was a sweet girl and that they would find me my forever home. I think I'm a Cattle dog mix. I don't know, I don't think I look like a cow but whatever! I like to play with my fur step brothers, but those things that make some kind of a meow noise, not so much! My people said I am heartworm negative. I went to the vet where I was spayed, vaccinated and microchipped. I love humans and if there's an open lap, you know I will be right there for rubs. I hope you’ll see my picture and want to meet me. I'm waiting! ♥

►My new name is Ryder because I’m a little low to the ground. I am a Beagle mix and very handsome. You see, I was at the shelter and no one wanted to adopt me because I was very nervous and shy. My friends at Freedom Bridge came and got me and placed me in a foster home with step fur siblings!

I love my foster family but sure would love my very own family.

Because of the safety of a foster home and step fur siblings, I am not so shy anymore. I think I would be great with you, in a fenced in yard, and with another fur sister or brother to help me keep getting better. I am going to the doggy doctor to make sure I am good to go. I got all my doggy shots, and am neutered and microchipped, too. I sure hope you would like to meet me, just let my peeps know. Can't wait! ♥

◄My name is Carlie and a Good Samaritan turned me in as a stray after finding me in the middle of the road. Everything was overwhelming but I was still just the sweetest girl. My rescuer was so worried about me but couldn't keep me. My new rescue friends made a promise they would keep an eye on me. So after my stray hold was up, I am now the newest member of Freedom Bridge Animal Rescue NC. I’m about 2-years-old and I’m great with other pups. I’m very sweet and playful and will soon be current on vaccines and vetted. I’m already spayed and microchipped. Wanna adopt me? ♥

►My name is Victoria, but call me Torie for short. I'm 9-months-old and life didn't start out so good. You see, my mama died when me and my siblings were born, so we all went to some really nice people who bottle-fed us and made sure we had enough food so we would grow up healthy and strong. I am a Boxer mix and I sure would love my own forever family. I can be kinda bossy, so if I have a fur sibling, a dude who lets me boss him around sometimes would be best. I am also fine if I am the only furbaby, more cuddles and treats for me. I have been learning my manners with my buddy, Jeff. He's pretty cool. He said that whoever adopts me can call him anytime they need help with me learning my manners (for FREE)! I really need a place that has sticks in the backyard (I think you hoomans call it a fence) so I can do my zoomies. I'm still a baby and have playful energy! I think little kids are ok but I probably need some who are older. The little ones make me nervous and they sometimes smell bad. Anyways, that's me. I hope you want to meet me. I sure want to meet you. ♥

Hi, I’m Kami, a 10-year-old Calico beauty who is ready to purr my way into your heart! I’m a very sweet girl, petite in size and so very lovely! I get along well with other cats and would love to make your acquaintance in the open cat playroom. I am spayed, vaccinated, litterbox-trained and ready to be part of a loving household. Won’t you please come meet me soon? You will find me at Southport Oak Island Animal Rescue (SOAR). Hi, my name is Rowan and I’m a 7-year-old Boxer mix girl who is ready to join your family! I am housetrained, leashtrained, and I do very well with basic commands. Long walks on the beach are one of my favorite activities (see my photo) and I also love playing with other pups! I am spayed, vaccinated and on heartworm, flea and tick prevention. A home without young children would be best for me, but I am great with other animals and would love a canine companion! If you’re interested in providing a sweetheart like me with a forever home, please call CARE at 910-256-2624 or send an email to carewilmington@yahoo.com.

►I'm going to start off saying - my name is Grace and I have a problem. The problem is that I am not allowed to live in a lot of places. Why? Because I am so majestic! Seriously, I am a Malamute/ Husky/Grey Wolf mix. I need a place that I can hang out and not get in trouble for being there. My foster mom and I have a great relationship. I'm a real sweetie and I love kids. I am vaccinated, spayed, heartworm negative and on heartworm prevention. I've been in rescue going on 3-years! Don’t get me wrong, I love my foster mama so much but I need to have a family of my own. I prefer a home with kids because I love when they lay down with me on the floor and watch TV. I don't care to hang out with other dogs and I certainly don't like cats. But, if you really want me to ‘grace’ you with my presence (see what I did there), we need to make sure I'm allowed in your county and that you are familiar with my breed. So, who's ready for a big girl like me? If you’re interested in meeting me, please contact my foster mom and she will find out if I am allowed to live in your county. Please contact my foster mom by emailing roseysweezers7@aol.com. ♥

◄Hello, my name is Hope! I am a sweet, rambunctious girl who loves treats and toys and I love to give hugs. A nice couple found me on the side of the road and helped me get healthy. My foster mom has had me for almost a year. I love her for taking such good care of me, but I'm really looking for someone who can play with me and maybe even take me places. I love to go for rides in the car, as long as it’s not to the vet. I'm approximately 3-years-old, vaccinated, spayed, heartworm negative and on heartworm prevention. I'm a Treeing Walker Hound so I have a big voice and I’m not afraid to use it. Are you looking for a loving friend with energy? I'm your girl! Make sure you have plenty of stuffed toys for me to rip up because that’s my second favorite thing after riding in the car. If you would like to meet me and see if I’d be a good fit for your family, please contact my foster mom by emailing roseysweezers7@aol.com. ♥

◄Well, I'm not El Chapo but you can call me El Chaco. I am my brother's keeper (he’s pictured below). When our dad passed away, I knew that it would forever be my job to watch over my brother, Wolfie. Truth is, I get a little nervous when we are separated (let's keep that between us). Anyway, we have been with our foster mom for 2-years now and Wolfie and I just want to have a place of our own. I don’t really care much for other dogs besides my brother, but Wolfie would play with another dog. We are such good boys and we have a lot of love to give. We are vaccinated, neutered, heartworm negative and on heartworm prevention. We love being outside and because we have such thick fur and we even like it when it’s cold outside. Wolfie and I would love to be a part of your family. If you’d like to meet us, please email our foster mom at roseysweezers7@aol.com. ♥

►What's up! My name is Wolfie (because I kinda look like one). My brother, Chaco, and I have been in rescue for almost 2-years. He’s pictured above. I love my foster mama but my brother and I would really like a yard to run around in and a couch to cuddle on. I love being outside and I love my sloth stuffed animal (I take it everywhere with me). We have a lot of fur because we are Husky/ Shepherd/Lab mixes. My brother and I have to stay together because we are bonded and both depend on each other. We have never been separated and don't want to start now! We used to live with our dad but he passed away and someone took us to the shelter. We were so scared there. Our foster mom took us home and we are much happier now. We are both 5 to 6-years-old, vaccinated, neutered, heartworm negative and on heartworm prevention. We are so ready for a family of our own. Do you have enough love for us both? To come and meet us, contact our foster mom by emailing roseysweezers7@aol.com.

Precious Puppy Alert!

My name is Aster and I'm an 8-monthold Yellow Lab mix girl, as sweet as can be. I’m your typically happy puppy, but I’m a survivor, too! You see, I somehow ingested rat poison before coming to the shelter. Thankfully, my new friends got me emergency care and I ended up having five blood transfusions! As you can see from my photo, I have made a full recovery and am feeling great. I love to play with other dogs and kids, I enjoy going for walks and I just really enjoy life! I’m definitely ready to be adopted and be someone’s sweet baby. Come on over to Pender County Humane Society so we can meet, cuddle and get to know each other. For visiting hours or any other info, please call my friends at 910-259-7022.

I am sponsored in loving memory of Milo, Rocco and Don Johnson, who are loved and missed every day!!!

I’ve been such a sweetheart with the staff at the shelter and I enjoy all of the attention they give me. So why haven’t I been adopted? At just 1 to 2-years-old, I’m a neutered Pit Bull boy who was found as a stray with a harness, but nobody ever came to the shelter looking for me. I know ‘sit’ and ‘shake’ and ‘paw’, and I’ve been very gentle while taking treats, food and toys from human hands. Like all young dogs, basic training would be a great learning experience for me and my new family. I’m food motivated, playful and very friendly! If you have another dog or kids at home, bring them with you for a meet and greet. My ID number is A477754 and I can be found at New Hanover Sheriff's Office Animal Services Unit in Wilmington. Adoption hours are Monday through Friday from 11am to 3:30pm and on Saturday from 8am to 11:30am. For more information, call 910-798-7500.

Cat Tails

▲We are an unusual litter of 4-month-old kittens. Our names are Whiskey (top left) and Wrangler (top right) and we’re boys. Willow (bottom left) and Whisper (bottom right) are girls. We were born on a boat in Shallotte. Really! Not only that, but the man’s dog helped lick us all clean and dry after we were born. Then, are you ready for this? We all arrived at Cat Tails in a litter bucket. I know it sounds like a story we made up, but it’s really true. Would you like to have a kitten with this crazy life story? ♥

►I’m a 4-month-old black and white female. My name is Addison and I just arrived at Cat Tails a couple of weeks ago. Even though I’m new, everybody knows me already. That’s because I’m so sweet! When I was turned in, the man said I was feral, but I turned that around as soon as I realized I now had a warm, dry bed with fresh water and lots of food! Really, the only thing I need to make my life perfect is a home and family. Can you help me now? ♥

►The person who turned me in said I was exceptionally nice and she was right. Her only problem with me was my singing. I love to sing and talk! My name is Stevie but everyone calls me Stevie Nicks after the singer. She’s been singing since the 1970’s but I’m just getting started. I’m a 6-month-old girl with long gray hair and I would love to have a person to talk to all day long. ♥

◄I was adopted from Cat Tails a long time ago so when my owner passed away - I came back. I moved in and adjusted right away because I’m a relaxed, laid-back cat, even though I’m very big! My name is Archie and I’m male, 4-years-old and light gray. Everybody says I will be a wonderful family cat. Wouldn’t your loving family like a wonderful cat? ♥

▲My name is Benjamin and these are my sisters, Betsy and Brooklyn. We are a lot of fun and we’re ready to go out and join our forever families. We were born in a home because they were just a little late getting our mother spayed. We’re 5-months-old now and we miss living in a home. Especially one with comfortable furniture and people with cozy, warm laps. ♥

I’m a Survivor!

My name is Rizbee and my story begins a few months back when I was found lying by the roadside in Pender County, emaciated and abandoned. The kind folks who stopped for me weren’t even sure I was alive, but my grateful eyes looking into theirs was all they needed to scoop me up and appeal for help on social media. My new pals at Pender County Humane Society answered the call! They took me in, had me seen by a veterinarian, and now I’m well on the way to a full recovery. I have gained weight, I’m feeling really good and I’m almost finished with my heartworm treatment. At 3-years-old, I’m an affectionate Pit Bull boy who loves to lay in laps and cuddle. Like all young pups, a training course would be beneficial in helping me reach my full potential. With that goal in mind, my shelter friends plan to introduce me to a local trainer who will teach me all the skills I need to thrive in your household I am neutered and vaccinated and would love to meet you!

Please stop by Pender County Humane Society or call 910-259-7022 with any questions about the adoption process.

I am sponsored by the Furry Friends Re-sale Shop in honor and memory of all the animals who've passed through the doors of Pender County Humane Society.

The shelter staff say I have been one “amazing” boy since arriving at the shelter. I enjoy all of the attention and will sit right beside your legs while you rub my chest and give me belly rubs. At just 2-years of age, I’m a Shepherd/ Rottie mix, already neutered and vaccinated. I’m a social eater and I enjoy all different types of treats and dental chews. I am a kisser, too! Won’t you please come get to know me? And if you have a dog or kids at home, bring them along for a meet and greet. My ID number is A480100 and I can be found at New Hanover Sheriff's Office Animal Services Unit in Wilmington. Adoption hours are Monday through Friday from 11am to 3:30pm and on Saturday from 8am to 11:30am. For more information, call 910-798-7500.

I am sponsored by the Hufstedler family in loving memory of their past loved fur babies: Ella, Rex, Misty, Buddy, Dottie and Houston.

To adopt, please stop by an adoption fair or call the number listed in our bios.

◄My name is Mandy. I'm 9½-months-old and I’m spayed, dewormed and have been treated for fleas. I am a dainty, orange female which is a RARE FIND! Did you know that most orange cats are boys? I was transferred from Brunswick County Animal Services alongs with my 3 brothers and they've been adopted. Now, it's my turn to find my loving furever home. I'm definitely what you'd call a "Cat's Cat". I will thrive with a companion cat (male or female). I'm submissive and will not have any behavior issues. My foster home has a submissive adult male and female and I play with both of them. So if you're looking for a companion for your cat - I'm that cat! I'm friendly, loving and affectionate and very playful at times. I might be a little shy and timid at first, but as soon as I trust you, I will make a great addition to just about any home. I have never been around children or dogs, so that's unknown. If you are interested in adopting me, text Melinda at 910-471-6909. ♥

►So nice to meet you. I’m Jenny. I am a really pretty 2-year-old Siamese mix with pretty blue eyes. I am so sweet and gentle. I came into the shelter as a stray. I seem to do well with other animals and am very out-going. I am staying at Petsense in Shallotte and you can meet me there or you can call Jill at 910-620-3783 and she can move me closer to Wilmington if you live up that way.

◄My name is Maya. I am 8-years-old. I am a sweet, calm, amazing cuddle bug. I like nothing more than to give kisses and to share the couch with my bestie...you! I am so happy when you come home so I will greet you with my favorite toy to celebrate. I am coming along with my leash walking and I prefer to be an only pet. I travel fairly well. I am smart and intuitive. I feel safest and happiest when I am indoors. I am loving and very loyal to my people. I was adopted as a puppy 8-years ago but recently turned up at an animal shelter in South Carolina when my adoptive home could no longer keep me. I am grateful my foster mom came to get me and that my microchip alerted the group of my fate. If you would like to meet me, please call Sherry at 910-523-1254. ♥

►My name is Donner and I am amazing. I am just 1-year-old and weigh only 33 pounds. That’s the perfect size! I am happy, playful, sweet and gentle. I do really well with other dogs of all sizes and ages. I can play at a dog park, go to a brewery and even live in an apartment if needed. I was born out in the country, but have adapted to city life really well. So hello Wilmington! Here I come! I have done well meeting cats, but probably would like to play with them. I am crate-trained and learning to walk on a leash. I am just an absolutely fun family dog looking for a family. If you would like to meet me, please call Jill at 910-620-3783 or come see me at Petco on Saturdays 11:30am to 4pm. ♥

◄My name is Pop Tart I am a special girl who is 1-year-old. Sadly, I spent the first year of my life sleeping in a dumpster. I am also deaf so I am a lucky girl to have gotten in and out when I needed to. My inability to hear does not stop me from playing and enjoying being petted. I will need a calm home with someone who will be patient and understanding of my disability. I love to lounge most of the day. I am hesitant with dogs but will most likely be ok with a male cat. Please contact my foster mom for more info or to inquire about adopting me. Her name is Jen and her phone number is 631-260-6142. ♥

►Hey there! My name is Fredricka but you can just call me Freddie! I'm a 2-year-old stray. If you're looking for a sweet, mellow, loving companion - I'm your girl! I seem to do well with other pets and I am the perfect size at just 35 to 40 pounds. I walk well on a leash and I am eager to please. If you would like to meet me, please call Sherry at 910-523-1254 or come see me at Petco in Wilmington every Saturday from 11:30am to 4pm. ♥

Hi everyone! Let me introduce myself. My name is Phyllis and today I had a really sad day. My foster parents made the hard decision to send me to boarding. I know it was a hard decision because they were very sad and cried a lot. It made me sad, too. I know they love me because they said “good girl” all the time and gave me lots of hugs and pets. They got me through that nasty heartworm treatment but we couldn’t make it work. You see through no fault of my own, I am possessive of my toys and need a little work on getting along with other dogs. I was abandoned and left in a yard so what’s a girl to do. I tried really hard but I need someone who knows how to manage my training better. So if you are willing and have some patience, I would love for you to help a girl out. I need someone who has experience with dogs and doesn’t have another dog around or can keep me separate from them until I figure this all out. And I know I will because I’m super smart. If you have treats, I will do just about anything you ask. I will make it worth your time because I am the sweetest, bestest girl ever. Oh, and I adore cats! I hope to meet you soon. Please contact Carolina Boxer Rescue at 910-799-5638, send an email to carolinaboxer@gmail.com, or visit us online at www.carolinaboxerrescue.org to apply for adoption.

I am sponsored by Pawville. Thank you!

When will it be my turn to play and cuddle with a loving family? My name is Boone (A477558) and I’m a silly, fun boy, just 1-year-old and already neutered. I’m a Black Mouth Cur who is very eager to please and very food motivated, which will come in handy during basic training. My shelter friends gave me several toys to play with and I loved them all! I went to a doggie daycare recently for playtime and had a blast! If you have another dog or kids at home, bring them with you when you come to meet me. I’ll be such a loveable companion! I’m at New Hanover Sheriff's Office Animal Services Unit in Wilmington. Adoption hours are Monday through Friday from 11am to 3:30pm and on Saturday from 8am to 11:30am. For more information, call 910-798-7500.

I am sponsored by Adam's Folly Pet Boarding, Bolivia, NC. Thank you!

◄Howdy, my name is Wade! I’m a 5-year-old Husky mix boy with lots of energy and I’d love a home of my own. I am heartworm positive, but the shelter has already started me on my treatment. ◄It’s me, Gunner, and I’m a friendly, energetic boy who loves to run and play! At 4-years-old, I’m a German Shepherd/ Lab mix, about 55 pounds.

I already know some commands and would love to learn more...obedience training would be right up my alley. Come get to know me and bring any dogs you have! ♥

◄Talk about a sweetie! I am the one. My name is Maggie and I’m a 1-yearold Lab mix girl weighing in at just 35 pounds. I am friendly and eager to please and I’m oh-soready to find my forever home. I am also spayed, up to date on vaccines, and on heartworm and flea prevention. Come meet me, you’ll be ever so glad you did! ♥

◄I am beautiful Bitsy, a 1½-year-old Pit Bull mix girl, just 45 pounds. I love children and toys and am house-trained, too! If you have a dog, I would love to meet him or her. I’ve been living at the shelter for one month and am eager to find myself in a loving home. I am spayed, microchipped, vaccinated and on heartworm and flea prevention. ►I’m Sebastian, a 1-yearold Boxer mix boy, and I’m pretty adorable if I do say so myself! I’m a nice size at 40 pounds and am very friendly and energetic. Like all young pups, I would benefit from basic training, plus that will be a great bonding experience for me and my new family! I am neutered, vaccinated, microchipped and on flea/ heartworm prevention. ♥

◄Hello there, I’m a sweet and friendly girl named Esa! At 2-years of age, I’m eager to please and appear to be house-trained. I enjoy running and playing in a fenced yard, especially if you are out there with me! I am likely a Lab/Shepherd mix, already spayed, vaccinated, microchipped and on heartworm and flea prevention. Monty’s Home Needs Volunteers!

Do you feel a tug at your heartstrings when reading about dogs in need of help? Do you wish you could help, but you're already so busy? BUT WAIT...did you know that by volunteering just 3½ hours once a month, you could be helping rescue dogs and make a big difference? It's true and your help is really needed!

Monty's Home is a rescue group that rescues dogs from the Pender County Shelter approximately every other month. The dogs are temperament tested before being placed in the Pender County Prison in Burgaw. Once there, inmate trainers work with basic obedience and socialization to prepare the dogs to be wonderful pets; and they need YOU to help.

Monty’s Home has a thrift shop in Burgaw. The items are donated and the proceeds are used to support the dogs while in their care. The shop is open to the public on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays. There are two 3½ hour shifts each day. Might you be available to take a shift once a month? Volunteer applications are at www.MontysHome.org under the ‘How You Can Help’ tab. For more information, call 910-259-7911.

Hi there, I’m Hogan and I’m 4-years-old and weigh 60 pounds. I am good with other dogs and I don't pay much attention to cats. I came from a rural shelter where I was very thin, heartworm positive and needed a miracle. Now, I am healthy, neutered, vaccinated and house-trained. I also went to a dog obedience school for 8-weeks where I learned all kinds of things. I am a big ol’ goofball with long legs and I know the following commands: sit, down, place, and come. I am looking for a home that will continue the training I received. I would love a family with a fenced yard and other dogs to play with but no young human kids. If you would like more info, fill out an application at www.rescueconnectnc.com. You may also call RescueConnect at 910-352-5150 or 910-302-7290.

I am sponsored by Ocean Grill and Tiki Bar in Carolina Beach and in loving memory of Bess and beach dogs everywhere.

GREAT FAMILY DOG!

My name is Jackson. My owner had to move out of the country for his job and couldn't take me with him. I am 7-years-old, sweet, loving, submissive and just a great dog. I need daily meds for allergies and eat a salmon/fishbased diet due to an allergy to fowl, but the meds are pretty cheap. I am good with kids and other dogs, just not cats. I am 55 pounds and should be 60 pounds so I have some weight to gain. I am also pretty vocal for a Labrador so I’m not ideally suited for apartment living. If you are interested in meeting me, please call Zoe with Adopt-An-ANGEL at 910-899-8696 or come see me at Petco in Wilmington every Saturday from 11:30am to 4pm. For information, updates and upcoming adoption events, visit us online at www.adoptanangel.net or on Facebook at www.facebook.com/adoptanangelnc.

I am sponsored in loving memory of Nolan, a compassionate dog lover.

Hi, my name is Wallen and I am still waiting for my furever home. You see, I came from a not so good situation and that makes me sad, BUT I LOVE my foster parents and siblings. I know I am a bully breed and people think that we're mean, but we really aren't. I am learning my manners but sometimes I get so excited to meet new people, I try to say hello by barking a lot. My peeps tell me that I shouldn't do that and I try, but I can't help myself. I would do great with fur sisters or all by myself. I really want someone to love me forever because I have so much love to give. If you are interested in meeting me (I sure am interested in meeting you), let the peeps helping me know.

If you’d like to adopt me, call Freedom Bridge Animal Rescue NC at 843-614-0231, send an email to freedombridgeanimalrescuenc@gmail.com or visit www.freedombridgeanimalrescuenc.org! P.S. Do you like my snazzy bandanas?

I am sponsored by Tony and Peggy Durso. Thank you!

◄My name is Copper and I’m about 1 to 2-years-old. I came in with an eye infection and was not eating on my own. My eyes are open and cleared up now, and I love insects. I will continue to get healthier with proper care and make a wonderful pet. I’m working on handling as I wasn't used to it from my previous home. ♥

◄I’m Onslow and I arrived here from Animal Control in Onslow County. I was found running around in someone's yard. During my quarantine I laid a ton of eggs! I have since started

putting weight back on and I’m doing well. I can be a bit of a spicy girl, but I’m getting much better with consistent attention. ♥

◄I’m Darrell and I’m about 8-years of age. I love my frozen/ thawed rats but I’m really not a fan of handling. I may relax with time but I may also just prefer to be a more hands-off companion. ♥

►I was picked up by animal control in Fayetteville so I’m currently being called 'Stray Fayetteville' I came in with no history but I look like a young adult. I eat well but really don’t like seeing other dragons. I’m a little timid with handling but I’m still trying to settle in. I should do well in a home with no other dragons. ♥

◄My name is Rose and I was a very loved and spoiled pet but unfortunately, the country my family moved to doesn't allow you to bring exotic pets. I am well-handled and eat frozen/thawed rats with no problem. I would make an amazing family pet. Would you please be my new family? ♥

▲I’m Windsor, a large Corn Snake with a partial lower jaw. I’m not sure how my jaw got like this but with proper care, it won't be a problem. I will need cream put on it often and I will need to eat several smaller mice at a time. I’m well-handled and although I don’t love having my mouth touched, I don’t bite. ♥

►I’m Dottie and I’m about 1 to 2-years of age. I’m not a big eater but I don’t seem to have any health issues that would cause a lack of appetite. I’m still trying to discover what insect is my favorite. I’m not used to much handling, so I can be squirmy but I’ll get more used to it with time. ♥

◄Hi! My name is Toothless and I’m a large Boa who is believed to be a boy. In my last home, I was well-cared for and loved. I eat great on frozen/thawed rats and handle so well! ♥
