COLDWELL BANKER Spreading its Culture of Awesomeness in Orange and Beyond

WRITTEN BY: ALYSSA DAVANZO

Coldwell Banker, the nation’s largest residential real estate brokerage, connects buyers to the latest local listing information, comprehensive neighborhood data and to local market experts who understand what it takes to help buyers and sellers reach their real estate goals.

Aileen DeFeo is the Branch Vice President, Realtor and Brokerage Manager at the #1 Coldwell Banker unit office in Connecticut, located at 236 Boston Post Road in Orange. As a lifelong Orange resident, Aileen is passionate about living and working in her community.

“With having my Real Estate license and a successful career, I could’ve gone anywhere, but I chose Coldwell Banker Realty because I love the exposure of a national brand, the company and the communities we serve,” she said.

GROWING THE BUSINESS

Aileen managed one small office on Racebrook Road, added a Woodbridge Office and then two years ago moved her Racebrook Road office to a larger space on the Boston Post Road. She now has 160 agents that specialize in all of New Haven and Fairfield Counties. “We like to say that ‘We move America’ because truly we do,” Aileen said.

With diverse expertise in residential, commercial, rental and investment real estate, Aileen says that it is critical for her and her team to

continuously sharpen their skills in order to be trusted advisors to buyers, sellers, and the industries they touch. She takes intense pride in Coldwell Banker’s fresh and energizing corporate philosophy, calling it a ‘Culture of Awesomeness.’ “One of my favorite sayings is ‘Turn your advice into a habit.’ It really is what you have to do to grow a successful company,” Aileen said. “At the end of the day, we’re consultants – not just real estate agents. The reason someone is moving weighs

heavily on every decision that we help them make. If a client asks me how the market is, I’d better be prepared to answer that question honestly and with evidence to back it up.”

With all-time low interest rates giving buyers more buying power, the real estate market is hotter than ever during COVID-19, and Coldwell Banker agents have pivoted to meet the needs of clients without missing a beat.

GOING VIRTUAL

“During the spring market in March, people hesitated to put their homes on the market because of safety concerns and safety comes first,” said Aileen. “My team quickly adapted to the digital business landscape, and we now offer virtual appointments, open houses and meetings through Zoom and Microsoft Teams. Governor Lamont listed real estate transactions, residential leasing and renting as essential services, and once everyone realized that the process of listing and selling could be done safely, there was a rush of supply and demand.”

With people spending more time at home, Aileen has watched the need “Our residents want outdoor firepits, fresh coats of paint on the walls and more space for home offices,” Aileen said. “We’re a concierge service for our clients. Whether they need attorneys, home inspectors or construction contractors, we’re a one-stop shop for those resources.”

UTILIZING SOCIAL MEDIA

Over her 31 years in the industry, Aileen says that the keys to success are listening and staying ahead of technology.

“By far, the biggest growth has been our digital reach,” Aileen said. “With social media, we now can instantaneously touch people locally, nationally and internationally. Everyone can get information at the click of a button, but I still firmly believe that relationships are the most important part of a real estate transaction.”

COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT

The Coldwell Banker agents are known for their philanthropic efforts, from donating toys annually to the Yale Toy Closet and hosting drives for local food pantries to serving as a corporate sponsor for many community events such as the Amity school play. Recently, the agency announced a new partnership with St. Jude Children’s hospital.

“One of the things I’m really proud of is in 2018, the Orange Chamber of Commerce awarded us the ‘Business Of The Year Award,’ and I firmly “With the Coldwell Banker Cares program, agents give a portion of their commission back to different organizations in the communities we serve. We also support charities by being hands on, like holding AdoptA-Pet events, sponsoring events at the senior center and by being active members at our local Chambers. I work with the most generous group of people you could ever imagine.”

Aileen moved to Orange at 12 years old, and she spent every year at the end of the summer at the Orange Fireman’s Carnival and September weekends at the Orange County Fair. She even went to school with a boy who would one day become her husband. Aileen and Mark raised their three children in Orange and still reside there.

“When I think about what I love about Orange, it’s not just one thing – It’s everything,” Aileen said. “I love that if I’m walking around the track, I’m either going to run into someone I know or I’m going to meet someone new. This is a wonderful place to raise kids, and I feel truly blessed that every day I am happy to go to work. My heartbeat is in Orange, Connecticut and I don’t see that ever changing.”

Do you have a question about real estate? Even if you are not a buyer or seller and just have a question about the market, Aileen encourages you to call Coldwell Banker at 203-795-6000 and ask. 

5Reasons to Make Your CBD Store Your Go-To

In a crowded market, it can be difficult to determine which CBD brands to trust. To get the most out of your CBD experience and regimen, it’s important to work with professionals who can not only answer questions but point you toward the right product and dosage depending on your individual needs. From the people in the stores to the brands on the shelves, here’s why Your CBD Store should be your new goto for all things CBD.

1. QUALITY CONTROL.

With CBD balms and tinctures now sold at gas stations and grocery stores, not all CBD is created equal. And as demand for CBD has continued to soar, it’s become hard to fi gure out which products aren’t simply riding the trend, using low levels of CBD as an excuse to rack up the price. That’s where Your CBD Store comes in — these stores do the vetting for you. “All of our products use the highest quality of industrial hemp, and all our products are third-party tested,” explains Clay Percy, COO for the 1st dedicated CBD store in the state located in Milford, CT (June 2019). This standard applies not only to products already sold in stores but to those being considered for distribution. “We are very fortunate that we have a research and development department that is constantly looking into new products,” Lenore Martorelli says of his Your CBD Store in Clinton. “New products are being tested to enter the market every day.”

2. GENUINE PASSION.

Each Your CBD Store partner has their own reasons for getting into the CBD industry. But all share a common thread: a passion for helping people and a belief in the potential of CBD. Harris Grannick, owner of the Greenwich Your CBD Store, actually comes from the family behind Grannick’s Pharmacy, an independent local fi xture since 1942. After being introduced to CBD at the family pharmacy, Grannick decided to dedicate his career to CBD and open Your CBD Store. But not all partners come from a background in the health industry. Lenore Martorelli of Clinton came out of retirement to help educate his fellow seniors on the potential benefi ts of CBD after losing his father following a battle with chronic back pain. Similarly, Scott Zabka of Your CBD Store Southington, Avon and Bristol chose to open his location after seeing the ways CBD was able to help his wife with her ailments. It’s this passion for CBD and belief in its potential that each partner brings to their Your CBD Store location.

3. PATIENT-FOCUSED CUSTOMER SERVICE.

When it comes to fi guring out which concentration, dosage and application is right for you, you’re never on your own at Your CBD Store. At each location, customers are met by highly educated and trained specialists who answer questions and provide guidance. “I believe what separates Your CBD Stores from other CBD products or outlets is the knowledge and education we provide customers and the products themselves,” says Percy. “All our CBD experts are knowledgeable and, most importantly, sincere.” Martorelli adds. “We always look out for our customers’ best interests and take as much time as needed to fi nd what works.” But Your CBD Store isn’t only there to help customers in the moment; their specialists also help you maintain a CBD regimen into the future. “Our mission is not only to sell our product but to inform, educate and get the right information to people,” says Martorelli. “We encourage our customers to sit with us and to fi gure out a plan for their CBD use going forward.”

4. COMMUNITY ROOTS.

With 25 locations across Connecticut, there’s always a Your CBD Store close by. By having so many stores, Your CBD Store not only provides convenience but roots itself in the local community. “We are present at town events and enjoy supporting our sports teams and school fundraisers,” Percy explains. “We also hold educational seminars, and each week we highlight a local business in our community,” he adds. These relationships, built alongside local Chambers of Commerce, are especially key in these uncertain times and can help to break the broader stigma around cannabisderived products. “As we grow in our community, we are activists for debunking the myths of CBD,” says Percy. “Many in our community are looking for natural health alternatives, and we are here to educate them on their options with CBD,” he added.

5. A GLIMPSE OF THE FUTURE.

As the CBD space continues to grow at a seemingly exponential rate, Your CBD Stores are hopeful their research-driven, patient-centered approach will become the industry standard. “In the next fi ve to ten years, I think other CBD brands and companies that are just here to make a quick buck will be gone,” Martorelli says of the future of his industry. “People will gravitate to a better quality product that gives better results.” The future is also likely to see more research into CBD and other cannabinoids, like CBN and CBG, as well as more acceptance from the mainstream medical community. “We believe that CBD will continue to be embraced by more and more,” Martorelli says of the next steps for CBD.

From quality control to cutting-edge technology, Your CBD Store represents the future of the CBD industry in its stores, partners and philosophy. Find a Your CBD Store near you or visit www.cbdrx4u.com. Like Us on Facebook
