Use your Loaf... Many people who are concerned about their health are changing their dietary habits, yet many of us are unaware of the potential nutritional value of bread. Quite frankly, bread has got a ‘bad name’ and is often blamed for gaining weight, the rise in allergies and for making us feel bloated and lethargic. There is some truth behind these accusations, as industrial milling and a highly processed loaf contains enzymes, fats, bleaching agents, preservatives and emulsifiers. Yet, an organic, stone ground loaf truly is the ‘staff of life’ and contains more nutrients per weight than meat, milk, fruits and vegetables. When flour is stone ground there is minimal processing at cooler temperatures ensuring that there is as little destruction of nutrients as possible. Good bread contains a rich supply of vitamin B and E, high quality protein, unsaturated fats, minerals and carbohydrates. Industrially milled flour, which is used in over 95% of Britain’s loaves, is made from grain that has been driven through machinery at high force and high temperatures, squashing the grain to within an inch of its life. The Egyptians are believed to be responsible for the process of leavening around 4,000 B.C, they used bread as central to their economy, used in payment for wages and bills hence the phrase ‘earn some dough’! However, what interests me is that at some point everyone started to settle and learned to grow crops. Then some of them discovered (probably by accident because they got distracted by a woolly mammoth or a sexy tribesman) that if they left ground grain and water mixture around long enough it began to bubble up and rise! Those facts – that all around the world bread became a staple at some point for most people – catch my imagination. For most people bread is the basic food. It long predates Christ as a symbol of life – a metaphor for all that is essential, basic, natural and good. Immigrants travel with their bread which is why we can get things like pita, baguette, ciabatta, tortilla, naan bread … Bread baking does not need to be stressful and you can fit it into the busiest of lifestyles. Better quality ingredients will result in better loaves of bread. Different techniques may make the difference between an award winning loaf and a perfectly delicious, edible loaf of bread. Many people who taste good bread may not want to eat poor quality bread again, if they have the choice. This is beneficial for their health and therefore society as a whole. Further, it is also beneficial for the environment because good bread is the end product of a good process that involves responsible farming, milling and baking with minimal waste. So please be encouraged to try making your own bread at home, it is really easy and really cheap. You don’t need a bread maker or even a tin. All you need is a bowl, a cooker, a small surface on which to knead bread, a baking tray and the ingredients of flour, water, salt and yeast. It is a restful thing to do on your own and a fun thing to do in a group. Some of you may want to set up your own cottage industry supplying bread to your local communities - it is not so long ago that there were communal bread oven in each village, - often the slash marks on top of your loaf was your individual signature to tell whose loaf was whose ! A DIY bakery would be an excellent community venture, where good health and relationships flourish! Rosie Clark

Mercedes-Benz SLK 350 BlueEFFICIENCY AMG SPORT By Tim Barnes-Clay, Motoring Writer THE NEW Mercedes-Benz SLK is an attractive car but you will only www.carwriteups.co.uk Twitter: @carwriteups be able to demonstrate to one friend at a time that, in this case, looks keep pace with performance. It is a strict two-seater after all. Indeed, the third generation SLK takes driving pleasure and open-air enjoyment to a new level. It blends light-footed sportiness with stylish comfort, a striking sports-car design with total suitability for everyday use and top performance with exemplary ecology. On the outside, the body of the new SLK emphasises its classic roadster proportions and puts them in the spotlight to thrilling effect. Behind the long bonnet there is a passenger compartment positioned far back, and a short tail end. Inside, the cabin is quite generous for a two-seater. To achieve this, the designers have developed interior appointments which offer you the highest degree of perfect perceived quality and precision. The centre console and other trim parts gleam in brushed aluminium, and galvanised air outlets, integrated in the dashboard, emphasise that this model well and truly belongs to the Mercedes-Benz sports car family. Under the bonnet, the SLK 350 harbours a powerful new 6-cylinder engine, featuring the standard-specification ECO start/stop function. This enables commendable efficiency without compromising on sportiness. In fact, it is up to 25 per cent more economical than its predecessor. Yet the 306bhp, 3498cc lump can thrust you from 0 to 62mph in just 5.6 seconds and on to a top speed of 155mph. And, amazingly, even if you flex the SLK’s muscle, the car can return up to 39.8 miles per gallon. If truth be told, the potent pocket-rocket offers fun at the wheel in every respect, with no feeble compromises. It succeeds in uniting sumptuous seating and high-quality equipment with athletic prowess. All-weather driving enjoyment – with the roof open and closed, in leisure-time and everyday use – is also firmly anchored in the SLK’s genes. With all these attributes the all-new SLK 350 from the German geniuses at Mercedes-Benz is surely one of the most refined and practical roadsters available on the market today.

07866 389004 I know there are hundreds maybe even thousands of photographers in the area so I always feel honoured when someone chooses to book with Pennycress. So what makes myself and Pennycress different to all the other great photographers out there? Well, quite simply I specialise in maternity, newborn and baby photography. Not all aspects of photography require the same skills, equipment and experience. After a few years of trying out various areas of photography I have chosen to focus on the area that really was always my passion, and lets be honest who whouldnt want to work with wonderful newborns every week! Specialising in this one area means my training, equipment and experience are all geared towards maternity and newborn portraiture. I have chosen not to do weddings, fashion, landscape or commerical photography. Having spent my whole career working in childcare and education I am not sure why I didnt realise sooner that this was where I was meant to be at!

I am so pleased to be looking forward to celebrating my 100th newborn next month and am also now offering mentoring and training to other photographers who are interested in this very adorable genre of photography. You can view more of my work at

Sharon Longshaw of we want 2 work has a WARNING for you.... I had the idea for We Want 2 Work in May 2010, I immediately purchased the URL's and set about finding a developer to construct the website for me. During the construction period things grew a little wobbly at times but I just put that down to the nature of the Techie Geeks building it. We launched the website on 10th January 2011 and things went great, we had over 700 Job Seekers sign up in the first 5 days and the business world loved the concept of the website. Then it all started to unravel, first off we realised that certain functions we had asked for were totally missing, then it became apparent that the search engine within the site was a massive fail, it was key to the whole site being able to function so at that point we had to stop marketing it to our paying customers i.e. SME's. Things then went from bad to worse when we realised that the guys had stolen my URL's and therefore controlled my whole business, including access to my Paypal account. It took 4 months of hard fighting to get my URL's back in to my name and under my control. I then had to refinance getting a whole new website built which to be perfectly honest with you has cleaned me out financially, but has also taken it's toll on my health, the whole experience has been devastating. The new website launched without hiccup on 1st June 2011 but with no money left for marketing its a struggle to say the least. I would so hate to see this happen to anyone else trying to build an honest business for themselves, I'm trying to get word out that this can happen. I had no idea that a URL could be hijacked before it happened to me, I hope warning might make people aware that this can happen.

If you would like further Details about this please contact Sharon through

Come to your senses! For some years now I have been using a blend of aromatherapy oils whilst tutoring maths. When students have taken the blend into exams with them, they say it is helpful to re-create the calm, confidence and concentration they experienced in the sessions with me, and there have certainly been some good results! Earlier this year I was asked to bottle this blend, and “Successence” was born. This was closely followed by a blend to aid well-being, “Wellnessence”, and a blend to help put the spring back in my step after the winter months, “Happinessence”. These became my trio of “scents of success/well-being/happiness”, with the extra ‘oomph’ of flower essences added, all in colourful bottles. Mists of change, scents of purpose! Our sense of smell is the most powerful of our five senses and we can make good use of it, and our other senses, to make positive changes in our lives. Wondering how? That’s where my “Successents Plus” courses can help – workshops and one-to-ones aimed at helping people ‘come to their senses’, in every sense! “Successcents Plus” is being developed so you can Find out how to use your 5 (& more!) senses to help you feel better, be better and do better. Learn how to enhance your success, well-being and happiness, and get more out of life. Leave feeling refreshed, resourced and ready to get back out there

The “Successcents” trio are now available in The Natural Food Store on Exchange Street and Innana’s on St Andrew’s Hill, both in Norwich. Details of my “Successcents Plus” courses will be available on my website www.successcents.co.uk , which should be up and running soon! Meanwhile info@successcents.co.uk will reach me if you’d like further details… Tricia Davies

Trusting your Inner Sat Nav by Rev’d Cindy Hurn

“If only. If only I had listened to myself... I knew there was something wrong but... Ohh.. Why didn’t I take that leap - I knew it was right..” Sound familiar? Hind sight, an invaluable experience reminds us of what we somehow already knew. It is in this review the bigger picture is seen. We never seem to be surprised at our hindsight as it is all so incredibly obvious, at least now anyway. Imagine how much easier, more efficient our business decisions, life choices would be if only we could turn up the volume of those little feelings or promptings which help us to see the bigger picture clearing the path forward. Gut feeling. We have all heard about it and most certainly felt it but did we always trust that feeling or did our intellect think it away? That is where the problem lies. Running right along side of our sense of sight, smell, touch, taste and hearing is another, our intuition. This much more sensitive sense unless encouraged hangs out more in the wings preferring to handle things back stage while the other five squabble over who indeed takes centre stage. Any one of us involved with the production of an idea knows only too well the importance of the hidden ones - all the behind the scene stuff which keeps everything running smoothly and deals with the unexpected. Our six sense can also be described as our inner sat nav. As it has the ability always to see the bigger picture. Not only what is around the corner but as well what lies below the surface. So multifaceted is this sense and yet so unappreciated. Ignored and left to get on with things, scanning, evaluating, sensing it can be undervalued as it is not it’s way to compete shouting louder than it’s more boisterous brothers and sisters. In the end receiving regretful recognition from inevitable hindsight. The trick then is to learn to appreciate and to sensitise ourselves to the whisper, prompt, or stomach turn of our inner sat nav. Like anyone one of us the more we are trusted the more confidant we become. Rev’d Cindy Hurn, an intuitive, from day one, knows only too well the gift of Intuition. “Why think the way when you already know the way?” Her intuition plays an integral part in all she does and so encouraged certainly plays centre stage within her life. Cindy is offering a 2 day workshop to dispel the myth and help strengthen the connection to this valuable inner sat nav. For more information on “Awakening Intuition” contact Cindy 01603 300885 or email cindy@cindyhurn.com If you are feeling a ‘prompt’ act now. www.cindyhurn.wordpress.com
