Entrepreneur Education How do I communicate? By Elizabeth Smith Communication channels are something we use all the time in our lives, without even realizing it. There are many different types of communication channels. I will introduce a few of them to you in this article and also share the one I use the most. First let’s go over what they are. Communication channels simply put - are what we use to communicate with each other. According to the Knowledge Hut Website Project Management course “the different types of communication channels are face-to-face conversations, video conferencing, audio conferencing, emails, written letters and memos, chats and messaging, blogs, formal written documents, and spreadsheets.” (KnowledgeHut, Communication channels, 2019) The one I use the most nowadays is video conferencing. Ever since COVID-19 started I’ve been using applications like Zoom more and more for meetings with my internship supervisor.

Virtual Book Club The E-myth Revisited - Why Most Businesses Don’t Work and What to do About It is a book by Michael E. Gerber. It goes over why most entrepreneurial pursuits fail and how to keep yours in business. Gerber introduces us to Sarah and he talks about the stages of a business (p.14 - 18). Gerber (1995) describes three personalities that you need to balance the entrepreneur, the manager and the technician. Each personality has different strengths, needs and wants. He states that it is almost impossible to balance them as they are all very strong and demanding personalities (p.19-33). When you first start your business things will probably be going pretty smoothly, but slowly they start to change, and you may find yourself falling behind and eventually your business may fail (p. 34-42). There are times when businesses need to consider getting help and Gerber describes this in the adolescence stage. He recommends hiring others to do what you can't or don't want to do (p. 41 - p. 50).
