elcome to the March 2011 issue of The Real Estate Magazine and if you are visiting, welcome to the Wood River Valley.

While thinking about what to write for this March issue, the question I asked myself was; “What do I like about March?” March is an interesting month that I think gets taken for granted. It’s kind of the last of winter and, of course, the first of spring. (Which begins on Sunday, March 20th) The days get significantly longer and warmer and here in beautiful Sun Valley we can actually sit outside on the south side of the house and absorb a little bit of warm afternoon sunshine. Most years the avid skiers can still ski and those of us who don’t ski can start planning our gardens. I also like March because some of the braver birds start to return and although I get excited about seeing them I also worry about them when we get a late winter snow storm. March is traditionally the highest precipitation month of the year. As we transition from one season to the next let’s remember to not take ourselves so seriously and to remember the ‘Value of a Smile’; It costs nothing, but creates much. It enriches those who receive, without impoverishing those who give. It happens in a flash and the memory of it sometimes lasts forever. None are so rich they can get along without it, and none so poor but are richer for its benefits. A smile creates happiness in the home, fosters good will in a business, and is the countersign of friends. It is rest to the weary, daylight to the discouraged, sunshine to the sad, and Nature’s best antidote for trouble. A smile is no earthly good to anyone until it is given away.
