ARCHITECTURE & INTERIOR DESIGN PORTFOLIO
PATRICIA GUERRA
Design Philosophy: “My aesthetic combines modern yet neutral style, always incorporating timeless architectural features. By adding a pop of color to certain decorative details, the otherwise neutral palette will always offer ease of change in order to keep up with latest design trends.

SANTA CATARINA RIVER
Rio Grande Basin
NUEVO LEON, MEXICO
Gulf of Mexico San Juan Basin MEXICO
Rivers connect us and are the veins of the world; they clean water and transfer minerals, sediments and some produce energy. Healthy rivers are essential to every one of us – for the water we drink, the food we eat, for our economy, for our health. The Santa Catarina River starts to flow from the east of Monterrey with the river San Juan and ends in the Gulf of Mexico through the Rio Bravo. The diagrams to the right illustrate how small systems live within more significant systems, and a single problem can have many different scales. To address the problem, one must address the different scales of the problem and understand that a mistake can affect all other systems within the system, think of them as multi-dimensional issues, addressed holistically, to help cooperate and reinforce one another. The semi-arid climate of Nuevo Leon does not allow for the presence of the perennial river, causing a water crisis and harmful effects which are directly reflected on human health and economic activity. Today, Monterrey is equipped with underground and surface water sources. (La Boca, Cerro Prieto, and El Cuchillo) The precipitation conditions are overall dry, which indicates the absence of water and the need for underground sources and increases vulnerability. Future risk includes the increase of aridity, higher temperatures, reduced precipitation, increase evaporation, and decline in availability. Moreover, climate change is only intensifying the water crisis. There is an urgent need to adopt new measures and help mitigate the international water crisis as a community.

NUEVO LEON, MEXICO Mexico has one of the largest housing gaps globally, and affordable housing is not easy to come by. Citizens need quality homes while having access to infrastructure and services. The demand is high, but currently, these homes are far from job opportunities and essential services. After performing a market report of Guadalupe, Nuevo Leon, and discovered the area's needs and current state, the finding revealed that the area is undergoing transformation and is currently one of the areas with the most unused space, which makes it an excellent area for innovative growth. To help mitigate the affordable housing problem while building sustainable quality homes will benefit us all, we need to start building homes that effectively respond to the surroundings while facilitating the users' lifestyle to allow them to prosper. The site is located at a corner, and its location is in between the notorious Santa Catarina River and the La Silla River. This area undergoes continuous flooding. The site is designed to mitigate the flooding problem and treat water for reuse while providing quality, minimizing the use of resources, utilizing renewable energy, and effectively responding to the surroundings.

COMMUNITY
SAN ANTONIO, USA The concept of the master plan is to create a closed-loop system for an individual to develop into healthy adulthood. We identified the primary needs for a human to prosper and have categorized them into the following groups. Individual: which is maintaining a sense of privacy while also expressing creativity and individuality. Community: which is a consistent support system that includes having constant people in your life. Furthermore, the be community will promote and strengthen each individual's independence. Mental: which is the assessment of the mind and the individual's overall emotional well being. Moreover, representation and psychological therapy will be provided, along with other additional supportive resources. Physical: This is where an individual develops physical fitness while engaging in sports or outdoor activities.

Soul: This is the centralized health of the entire site, which promotes inner reflection, creativity, and imagination the unified courtyard will house playful activities for children and an amphitheater built into the topography. Each category represents a critical need for an individual. However, when all groups come together as a unified whole, an individual will have the potential to experience fulfillment and self-worth.
